Seal leak in weld point?

I have one water unit that has a bad weld job where they put the down stem into the bottom of the main section. It did not leak when I first got it....but then showed up after a couple uses.

I can not see any cracking or chipping or any deformation in the glass wall or welded area. So they just did a crap job attaching it. It is a pretty small leak, so hoping I can goop it up with something safe.....not sure about any epoxy though....?

Has anyone ever fixed this with some sort of food grade sealer? Silicone sealer?

Silicone 1 sealant (50 or 100 year rated) is best. It will smell like strong vinegar when curing. Find the clear stuff.

Silicone II is an elastopolymer blend that has hydrocarbon things other than pure Siloxanes in the mix. This blend is also available at auto parts stores as "sensor safe", "low odor" or "improved formula", usually with color added. Best avoided for anything contacting something you plan to consume.

You can try fixing the flawed welded joint .
You will need a propane blow torch and
some glass "strings " / "noodles" .

Slowly pre-heat the joint with the blow torch and then add molten glass ,using the blow torch and the glass string .
By this way you can decorate your water unit ,also ,
with some colored glass noodles /stringers .

Thanks guys for the info....I had done some quick research just after posting the question. I found that GE all purpose 100% silicone caulk is safe. Then after getting home and reading Chickens info....it is a Silicone 1 product. So good on me for now.....I will go this route to see if I can stave off the drips.

Stardustsailer.....thanks for that...very usefull info. I will hold off on melting glass just yet as the breached area is so small and I feel I might make it bigger if I do not do a good job melting more glass there.
