Online glass arrived chipped, how to handle?

So, I ordered some glass pieces, and one had a chip when it arrived. This obviously was a defect in the glass.

I contacted the retailer and sent some pics. Some emails back and forth , but no resolution yet.

Is this something where the buyer just has to eat it, or do online glass retailers normally make things right? Or, does one try to contact the maker instead?

I'm a glass noob, so this may seem like a dumb question. Sorry.

LivingInSpin,
Glass problems I've had with Etsy glassbllowers were always met with unbelievable courtesy, and the one time I had to deal with grasscity, they were good too.

Small American/European glassblowers are so prideful of their work and are such honorable people that they'll guarantee it, while souless grasscity/Everyonedoesit.com type corporations sell Chinese and Indian glass at such a high profit margin that they'll happily replace anything which is identified as sub par.

Tell them you're part of a forum and will post on this issue, it may put some fear in them.
