    Hi All,

I'm on the trail of chasing the ultimate flavor in vaping. I've only ever used herb, never oil, and I was wondering if flavor is better with oil. Is the flavor quality oil with a device like a Thermovape Dart or Cera similar to vaping herb, only without the toasted/nutty/burned popcorn taste at the end?

What flavor differences if any are there between QWISO, QWET and BHO?

Some people suggest that they feel like something is missing when they vape oil compared to herb. Do you feel that something is missing effects wise with oil and if so, do you have an explanation as to why? Are there differences in effects between the different types of extractions?

I like vaping sativa's for spiritual effects and will possibly be using high CBD strains in the future for joint pain, IBS and migraine.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Mods, sorry if this should be in the concentrates thread. Feel free to move it there if you see fit.

    Cheers
    TF

Im not very knowledgable about oil, I only vape what I make since its not legal in canada. I dont really trust anyone making my oil, and mine is always better than the street shit.

Anyway. I usually make QWISO oil. It always tastes very nice (ofcourse it depends on the weed, i always test the herb with my solo before making an oil run), and the effects are STRONG (Generally, QWISO is stronger than BHO [someone correct me if im wrong, like i said im an amatuer]). I get migraines too and trust me when i say the right oil is ur best pain killer. Also I dont feel Im missing anything at all in terms of high satisfaction, but why not combine just vape both oil and herb? Thats what I do. A few hits of oil off my pen, then a few hits with the Solo.

The pen I use is the Atmos rx jr. I know its not popular here on FC, but I like it a lot. I can get a great high off 0.04 grams, and I like the taste. It also fits into my 14 mm bong, which is great. Its a pretty well made vaporizer, but i fucked up the battery by overcharging so watch out for that. Obviously you will have better results with a better vaporizer though.

Thanks for your response @cawshook. It's encouraging to hear that you don't notice any difference in effects (apart from extra strength) between QWISO and herb. It will be interesting if those who do perceive a difference have any science to back it up.

    Cheers

A number of components contribute to a high: cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, etc. These various actives aren't all equally extracted under the same conditions though, so the extraction process changes the ratio of actives available in your product resulting in a different high. Many people find using flowers to provide a fuller high, likely due to a fuller makeup of actives. People who like the psychoactive effects of cannabis are often big fans of concentrates because concentrates contain significantly larger amounts of THC while still limiting the other actives. Some prefer one high, some prefer the other.

Personally, I find flower to be much better at medicating physical symptoms and concentrates to be more mentally uplifting.

What type of oil are you using? I find qwiso gives you the physical effects, but for bho not really. Even though ive only tried bho a couple of times.

Tom if you want to know the method i use let me know. Its very easy, i def recommend you try it because in the end no matter how many opinions you get your better off trying urself and figuring out what you like best.

I've tried everything under the sun, but I now stick strictly to CO2 and grain alcohol. I've never found a concentrate that provided the same physical benefits for my symptoms (primarily gastrointestinal), though I do find that mixing a concentrate with flower provides me longer relief than only using flower.

An interesting bit of evidence to back up my previous post: I have an everclear-extracted shatter that I make using a high CBD strain. The flower tests at 6% THC and 20% CBD. The resulting shatter tests at 30% THC and 30% CBD, demonstrating that THC is extracted at a significantly higher rate than CBD, and the high differs accordingly.
