Thank you for this. Looks like I’ll be sticking with my auber and showerhead for now. I’m honestly still very interested in the VROD even though I don’t do double deckers much. I feel like it would be good to have and I’ve been considering a wrap around anyways. Looks like this is the head I’ll get if I do decide to get another. I appreciate the quick response and we all appreciate the testing. Your opinion is always valued here and you have always given me great advice. Looks like the Vrod is gonna be amazing and I’m sure part of that is from your testing. We all thank you :)

I just wanted to add I think that it’s kinda lame that the Vrod only works with newvapes coils because I believe that the 5 pin XLR with the wiring Dnail uses should be standard. I don’t own any mini XLR stuff and I do not plan to. I guess if I got the v rod a sottrring job would be in order. That’s a fine solution and I’m sure I could figure it out, but there’s gonna be a lot of people doing this. Newvape could make some quick cash if they got adapters or sold a coil that worked with a standard XLR box like the Dnail or auber or hexnail. They could charge at least like $50-$70 and people would buy them. They’re gonna need that specific size coil for the VROD. Just an idea instead of giving that money to other coil companies. And yeah you sell a coil for them to solder with, but I think there is more money to be made if newvape would offer everything you need because people are gonna end up buying a new vape coil; a standard XLR coil and then soldering them when newvape could just sell a more expensive option for people who don’t use their mini XLR. Basically people would pay for the convenience of not having to source two coils and solder. Just a thought, cuz I will not buy a new vape box.. I have 2 auber controllers and a basically useless errlectric that has tought me to stay the fuck away from proprietary coils.

YW man I am glad I could help in someway. I think you will really enjoy Vrod when your time comes. Just keep in mind it would not just be a head change but rather the head & nut to go Vrod , your bowl is still compatible as well as your Sh carb cap. I really do appreciate the kind words greatly. I also do somewhat agree with you on the coil selection but NV has there reasons for using the coil they do and I don't want to open a can of worms discussing it. I also understand it is the coil they use and sell so designing something around it was the way to go and I am kind of glad they did as there coil now somewhat locks in and makes a perfect contact with the top and bottom of the head and nut. Something that could not be achieved all the time using the Sh or Wa bc not all coils are created the same and you get that guarantee using there coil with the 4 wraps and larger height than most coils plus I am sure it being larger than most it is dispersing heat better but what do I know, I am no scientists lol. A adapter would be cool though and I am sure if someone has some soldering skills and time on there hands it shouldn't be to hard making them and even making a few $ at the same time. Who knows maybe NV will listen and whip something together, they have always been good at listening to everyone on this forum even if they are not physically present .

Yeah I can see what you mean about the coils. The fact is this design is intricate and it obviously relies on perfect measurements. That means making a device that worked with all coils basically was out of the question. I can totally understand their course of action but I just wish it was all done around a standard XLR coil lol. I guess we can’t have everything we want and you are correct. It’s easy enough to solder and I’m sure I will be able to figure it out or find someone to help me when the time comes. But I wouldn’t be too surprised if newvape came up with a solution. As you said, they obviously listen to us. Which is fucking dope. I love newvape haha. Great company with the best desktop vapes on the planet. I’m really happy for everyone whose gonna enjoy the Vrod. I have a feeling that I’ll end up with one. For now I’ll be looking forward to the Vrod officially rolling out and seeing everyone’s milk shot videos

I just came on to suggest that NV stock another coil or two that will fit the V Rod and work with different controllers, but you guys beat me to it! The adapter suggestion was also a good idea.

On the subject of “standard” coils, I think NV would point out that while many consider the style of connector D-Nail went with “standard”, there are still several other styles sold by multiple manufacturers, and as far as I know there are only de facto standards in e-nails, not anything put together by a government or broad industry group that would really steer people in a specific direction.

NV also has many customers who have bought their controllers and coils over a period of years, and as much as owners of other controllers would be happy with a change, if they didn’t continue to support the products they’ve been selling they’d have a lot of angry customers.

I think selling compatible 3rd party coils or adapters would be the best way to go right now.

For anyone interested, and IIRC, NV posted their reasoning behind the controller/coil connector decisions previously in this thread.

I know of a Florida vaporizer shop who is a fan of the Flowerpot that might be capable of performing the coil mod for @NewVape710 if enough people were interested. They build their own enails so this would be a cakewalk.

I have been using my 14mm stubby bowl religiously and have loved it with an EQ bowl!
Recommended it to everyone and a lot of people tried it out.

Now I come to you and say, "I have a new favorite bowl!".

A while ago I tried to use an EQ bowl in my PanHead bowl but it did not quite fit, the basket was slightly too big. I abandoned it for a while until today when i revisited my dilemma.
Off to the basement to locate my bench vise for a bit of brute love!
Just a slight push and it fit perfectly, don't think I can remove it though without destroying the basket.
The baskets rim is slightly wider than the post which is perfect!
Dropped the post down so that the rim now seals against the PanHead and secured the handle.
My bowls have never stuck from the very start, so I have no concerns.

A tiny load now milks up way more than my stubby bowl does!! Same herb, same temp just different bowls. I think it absorbs less heat during the hit due to it's mass, so more heat is transferred to the load?

Either way, rocking another old bowl no longer available!!
Waiting on the sweet looking V-Rod!!

If you want to use the PanHead or ShovelHead with a basket screen without the extra work, back when they were new @NewVape710 said they were sized for the small Evo basket screens (which I believe are supposed to be lids for their deeper screens?).

I believe @DDave also sells that size basket screen...I should pick some up and try it too. :)

I love your creativity and the way you mod to get what you want out of vapes, it's inspirational! But the line above puzzles me, the Pan- & Shovelheads & stubby are still available at newvape aren't they? I didn't think that NV really discontinued their previous bowls... I must be confused about your statement and misreading what you're actually talking about. Please help me, I know being high isn't an excuse for my stupidity but:
Do you know secret-squirrel inside stuff or is clairvoyance one of your superpowers? :D
Is that the plan for SH going forward and I just haven't heard (totally possible)?
Is this an evil Canadian plan to cause a NV bowl rush and destabilise the Flowerpot scene?! :haw:

My plan is to get one of the Showerhead bowls & at least a couple glass bowls from different makers. If the stubby & Harley Bowls aren't available then whatever would a Showerhead use for a bowl? Are you just trying to screw with my sleep tonight because you know it's bedtime for geezers over in UK?
    Dang it, man!

Loving that there's more going on in this thread beyond shipping reports! Shower:leaf:Power!

EDIT: for mistakes and incoherent thoughts

@pxl_jockey The PanHead and ShovelHead are still the latest bowls, and they are still available (as is the old stubby).

NewVape basically said they would stop producing things when people stopped buying them, so as long as they have a decent amount of sales on the older bowls, they’ll probably stick around too.

It's funny you say that. I've been doing the same with the panhead for awhile except I still use the double weave up top and the eq basket has degummed hemp fiber in it. I only have one that's slim enough to fit in and have found that RBT rimless screens work a little better since you can stretch them and I'm only using it to hold hemp fiber.

Still use the OG bowl as my micro doser. I forget which screen I used to use but now I'm rocking an UD glass stem screen which is a perfect fit.

Ordered up a 5 pin male xlr connector today and picked up a new tip for my soldering iron. My enail uses the high5 pin out and I don’t want to order a new controller so I am getting ready!!! It seems it is either the dnail pin out or the high5 pin out that is used. It would be cool if NV offered 2 different adapters to go from NV coils to either one of the other options but guess that would go against their reasoning for using a mini xlr connector in the first place.

Easy enough anybody with little to no soldering experience could do? Any chance you’d wanna post some pics for those of us that aren’t that tech savvy at all?

I'd say so, but like anything, YMMV and doing the appropriate research is always worthwhile. My hands shake so my soldering aint great.

Did a quick search, this guy seems thorough and altho its guitar cables, the only real difference is that the enail coil has more wires than just the two...

A dick move to quote oneself, I know but this is why I'll always remember the Harley connection.

Edwyn never replied to this or said anything but shortly thereafter the adjustabowls became the Panhead & Shovelhead and it made me laugh! IIRC, some member even cautioned him about using H-D names but I doubt that they're paying attention to the vaporization movement or just take it as the complement it is. I found out later that Edwyn loves his hogs, and maybe that's why I made the visual connection in the first place. But imo that Made in USA emblem is still gorgeous icing on the cake. An elegant touch on these bodies for sure, but all NV products are nicely detailed, even the loading scoop is machined so elegantly.
