@emmdeemo it will be very noticeable. If you're able to go even lower dish temps you'll probably start to taste a lot of the subtle flower notes on top of the other flavors you'll pick up off the SiC compared to Ti. Some of my flower rosin hits taste amazing, comparable to the flower dankness, and way smoother than their respective flowers.

I discovered the old original round tray with the hole for the silicone container fit the carb cap for the VROD perfectly. Cool to have a tray specifically designed for the VROD carb cap. You can see the tray silicone dab container in the foreground. History repeating is so cool.

The VROD is just fine with flower...it is an adjustment but you gotta get to know the vape. It does the trick just fine so the VROD is all I am going to run for about a month I think. It deserves at least that from me.
It also fits the ol' LolliCap perfectly.

I use the OG stand as my ABV tray and I leave the (never used) LolliCap in there just 'cause it fits so nice there. I must admit that I've had it fly into my trash can on more than one occasion when dumping my ABV tho.

I hope so. I've had the OGFP with SiC dish, and the wraparound, but the SH was just so amazing with flower and my dabbing experience was still quite limited.

Now I'm all full of rosin and using a press, I might be near experienced enough to be able to appreciate the VROD.

Been playing around with temps a little on the SH with rosin. My lungs are on the fritz/got the gremlins in/closed for refurbishment/living a lie, so I've taken a little inspiration from this thread, ppls findings with the VROD, and a random rosin guy I started watching recently...

Getting really nice clouds and no lung irritation at 580f dabbing organic, cured rosin on the SH. Means I can take bigger hits. Awesome. Drawing the fine ball point dabber directly round the dish, almost no oil travel up the dabber stem.

The idea that I might be able to go on even deeper adventures in lower temps with a VROD is very exciting!

Really hoping I notice a flavour difference on the VROD SiC.
Are you dabbing your rosin in the dish? Are u using flower in the bowl also, or straight rosin?

I didnt realize you had the TAG SiC dish already, in that case I will be very interested to hear your thoughts on the halo vs TAG dish's. The halo makes it a lot easier to dab in, I can say that with certainty :)

I fill my shovelhead half way with pretty finely ground herbs, then just a small dab on top in the quartz dish ( for now) I get two really nice hits out of that and yeah I got to slow down with the breath, teeny bit of very dark pooling in the quartz dish, very minimal , still fine-tuning my temps, I'll try turning the carb cap around a bit, I just leave it stationary.
That sounds like a lot of herb, I can get by on one bowl with NewVapes scoop which just covers the double weave screen. How did you settle upon 1/2 full? I guess if you’ve got it vape it. For me I just don’t want to miss out on any goodness and I’ just fine brushing out one bowl and adding another scoop. Respect! -YaMon

Hi man, yeah im just trying different things, to be accurate I usually do a 1/4 fill in the bowl.
That day I watched a video where a guy filled up his sh 3/4 full, but really if I overfill Im getting pretty even, brown, dried out avb ;)

How many good hits off the newvape scoop are you getting?

Vape on mon ;)

Nothing quite like locking down those one hitters, only flavor and meds, the ABV flavor roasts off somewhere in the jar sparing your palate the off tastes. You can walk away with skunk breath that's more reminiscent to your nug jar than your ABV jar.

Would a vrod owner with some free time mind providing us with a picture of the roast of an unstirred flower bowl uncapped vaped at your preferred temperatures, and let us know load size, and what temps you're using?

I take single hits as I documented above, if I have to stir the bowl, then I gain nothing over my WA. Please help a brother out.

At least two very good ones, but I’ll hit it until I’m not getting any vapor at 747 degrees SH uncapped. If I had a grow, a goal, I would not worry about it and I’d be stacking my herb.

I have been using the shower head since it came out. So when I use the shower head I have ingrained muscle memory. When I fired up the VROD of course my approach would be like with the shower head but the VROD is basically a different but similar vape so you may need to adjust your technique like with any vape.

Using the VROD with a slightly slower or softer draw is in no way a drawback or a compromise. A draw with the VROD is still a very nice comfortable easy draw. It is so much like the shower head, however, a little different. That's it.

Zero negatives regarding the VROD and the draw with flowers. It is still a shower head and feels very much the same. I don't know what else to say except the draw is a non issue for me and you too.

Thanks @steama
I think I'm just going to have to get one to try myself but appreciate the reassurance :)
Fingers crossed @VapeFiend.com stock them soon along with extra coils, new posts, carb caps and the dnail sic dishes too.

My showerhead temps have been slowly creeping up. Currently set to 700 on the controller for 1 hitters. My bowl size varies but I never stir and just bin the avb when it's like tobacco or darker

So the VROD needs a slower draw than the showerhead?
I'm not sure I like the sound of that.

Yes this has been my experience as well. Slower draw for even browning with the vrod. I'm also using the vrod carb cap and spinning. 600-650 on the nv controller.

With SH, I'm 650-700ish and faster draw. Spinning the sh carb cap.

Anyway, I love both lol. Haven't touched my EVO, which was my daily driver, for the past couple weeks that I've had my flowerpot.

@waxdab23 I had an evo as my daily driver too, for about 2 years until I purchased the flowerpot :)
I prefer the bowls to the baskets and the double/triple deckers sealed the deal

On the VROD, how much space is there between the top centre airhole and the start of the showerhead holes?

Does that make sense? I've been hitting the showerhead since I got home from work lol

Is the inside of the top domed or funneled in some way?
Im just kinda wondering if Edwyn has done something to ensure the outer edges get as much airflow as the centre?

To be clear. The VROD is a shower head but is a little different. It will milk your glass just as fast and takes the same number of draws to clear the bowl. If you want to see a VROD video just watch one of the shower head because it is basically the same thing.

That darker ring coil artifact in the bowl of my VROD was caused by my learned shower head draw and the heater coil as you pointed out. I was just pulling a little too hard on this vape. I made very slight adjustments to my draw and it works so close to a shower head that I am very pleased.

I am not ever going back to the shower head.

Sorry no videos my friend. Just too lazy.

EDIT:

You should feel completely comfortable getting the VROD. It is a stellar vape.
As I said earlier in the thread it takes a bit of time to get it dialed in to your liking but once you do they are very similar. I had to re-learn a bit myself coming from the Showerhead. I was not expecting to be able to go much lower in temps compared to the Sh but it is somewhat needed as the VRod has superior heating methods now. Glad you got it dialed my friend. I never experienced the ring myself but happy you figured it out. I'm with you also on not going back to Sh now , This thing just hits amazing now for both flower and concentrate and the Sic halo is a dream.

The VROD's top hole where the dish bolts on is smaller than the shower head's wide open face at approximately a 1/4 inch air opening.

If you draw too fast the column of air from the 1/4" hole overwhelms the VROD and just sucks that rapid moving, much cooler air straight down causing the ring effect.

So you need to slow your draw not to have this effect occur. The air from the 1/4 top opening needs a bit slower draw to spread the heat.

Great Info steama, good to have someone like yourself around these parts helping out. I am going to do some testing myself over the weekend but thank you for that.

My pleasure my friend. I like it how we all share and work together as you know you have helped me very recently with my VROD and d-nail purchase. Thank you @Justpassedu

Yw man , that's what it is all about here. I'm glad we can all help each other in a positive way. You all have helped me many times and together we all made this product grow and improve. Glad we all found such a great product bc when I had 1st got one I almost gave up on it when I had issues and I am happy with the help of NV and the forum we improved this vape and made it to what it has become today.

@newvape918 this makes me wonder whether there should be some baffles above the holes to disturb the air enough so that it does not just go down through the center grouping of holes regardless of draw strength? With the ShowerHead all the holes are open straight up, where with the VRod it sound like the main intake is like an inverted funnel. The air is going to take the path of least resistance when in fact we would prefer all the holes have equal air flow. When that is not the case the herb will not be roasted evenly.

When I first got the vrod I didn’t think I liked it. I was getting really dark abv on the outside of the bowl and green in the center. I was actually kinda mad about it. Felt like I wasted my money on it but once I adjusted my draw speed everything was awesome. It took me a few trys to get good tasty vapor with an even roast of the herbs. You really do have to adjust your draw speed compared to the showerhead, once you do it is pretty much the same as the showerhead.

The vrod has replaced both the wraparound and the showerhead for me. It really is an awesome mash up of the two heads and is the head I recommend.
