New here, Wanting to upgrade from my Omicron.

hey everyone, I've lurked around on the boards from time to time for the last 6 months or so, all in my pursuit to find a good portable vape for concentrates. I went through my fair share of crappy China e-cig adapted pens and carts before finding this site and the recommendation for KISS carts. I ended up ordering an omicron and have enjoyed it thoroughly. However as my batteries are starting to near the end of their life, I've been looking for a potential replacement for my omicron.

I've been looking around at the many different options that I'm now much more aware of than I was before (months of looking around and getting to understand these concentrate pens better), and I've pretty much decided on getting a mechanical mod and running an adapter to continue to use KISS carts, and potentially in the future a Hercules.

Now the debate I have, deciding on a mechanical. I've debated for a while between a VV/VW box mod to allow me to potentially run even 7.4V carts, but I really prefer the look of mechanicals and am interested to own one. The thing is, I can't justify dropping 200+ like many big names cost, so I'm at a crossroads. (Also why the Persei and 8 are out for me, sorry W9 Tech, but I'm certainly looking forward to the new alpha c carts!) I'm trying to avoid throwing away a bunch of extra money trying to find the right mechanical mod like I did before.

I've been eyeing a few models, mainly in the 18650 size (though many have multiple tubes, etc) such as:

I've also considered just getting something like a smoktech magneto or a nemesis clone, but I'd prefer not to buy a clone I think, and the magnetos would depend on finding one with the good screw adjustable center pin, but isn't out of the question.

Anyone have any opinions or other ideas?

I've also been considering something like the IPV mini 2, but I'm not sure if I need variable voltage so much.

A nice recollection of manufacturer's and user's post about mod boxes and the hercules. The manufacturer recommends vv over vw.

In a similar boat. My 7.4v KISS cart seems possibly defective, so I can't comment on the eleaf istick 50w I just bought; tear downs show it as a dual battery system, so it should be able to rock the voltage required -- may be a worthwhile cheap alternative. I'll say that I've heard the magneto has some serious voltage drop, was just watching a video on youtube of someone running an inline voltmeter on various mech mods, and that was one of the worst rated (of the reviewer's on-hand equipment, so clearly it still works, just not at the same level as other mods).
