My Gnar Jar review

Hey all so this is my first ever review here but i have the Gnar Jar for a mini review so let me tell you what i thought about my month owning the Gnar Jar.

The Shipment Packaging
:

The UPS Intl package from www.gnarjars.com arrived in a small firm cardboard box no bigger than needed to firmly hug the jar and with fragile stickers on the outside and proper customs and postage forms. Everything as you would want to save space is seen here and professionally done. Although i did find it took a good knife to slice into the box which made me paranoid about cutting down on glass! I think people with shaky hands could have real problems here Niko i would prefer not to tape over the easiest route into the package! Also the Gnar Jar stickers are not something i used and i felt sort of bad about putting them in the trash. Another thing to slimline maybe?

The Gnar Jar:

So like me i bet if you buy one the first thing you will notice is the size is quite large compared to everything else on the market! How big you say? Well i currently have managed to pack in 42 grams of my popcorn sized Mango buds and i have room left for another few grams yet so two ounces packed firmly is the upper limits and an ounce of trimmed and manicured buds seems optimal. You will also notice that the cool triple seal FDA approved silicone lid is huge and no surprises when they state it will hold 7 grams of sticky oils. Now initially upon opening i noticed that usual weird silicone smell all these products seem to have this trait but it will go away by simply soaking in hot water for an hour and i can confirm mine now smells of bud instead of silicone after just a few days. Ah yes i hear you Minnbobber will smell escape you say? Well this is the part of the review i have been most thoughtful about as we have on here someone who did complain about CVaults leaking smells and i previously had my material inside my 3L version and the clamping force on that product meant i could never ever smell my stash period. A Gnar Jar has a different all silicone approach where the lid comes in two parts the top one has screw threads to screw down and when you lift it open you will find the surface upon which your oil will be placed and be compressed into honeycomb patterns! Now at first i did not screw my lid on tight enough and that left the closet smelling slightly weird and it took me a while to figure out that this was a weak link in the way the jar will create a seal. In that the smells will come through the thinner silicone layer for the concentrates and up into the oil compartment and then be at the mercy of how the user applied the screw seal. I think this is probably the only area i have criticism though and could easily be made thicker and stronger in future but it seems to only show this characteristic in small confined spaces and less so if you give it a good screw clockwise. So all in all i would say this offers around 80% of the protection of a CVault which considering the materials used in construction and dual function is what really pleases me about this product and i am happy i bought one because where else can you store so much varied material in one place? The fact that they might beef up the silicone layer and will offer UV glass is downright crazy just think about stuffing in nearly two ounces and 7 grams of oil in one jar!

Awesome! Great review! Glad you like the Jar Rodders! Thanks for your honesty. We will eventually have better packaging. The next silicone lids will be a lot better. Instead of the screw top we will have the pop off silicone lid, so that will improve the design, and yes we will have UV glass and we are currently working on sleeves to completely block out light.

Thanks again man!

Helo Niko,

Nice product.

The UV glass would be great.

Any chance of incorporating a way to slide in a boveda pack in your lids?

Because... I love my uv jars, if only they could incorporate boveda packs (on top of an oil compartment)...

Thank you.
This is something that is in the works. For anyone who doesn't use or need concentrates, our regular lids will have that slot specifically for Bovedas.

Just buy the smaller Boveda 62% packs the Gnar Jar with an ounce inside has plenty of room honestly an ounce in mine only comes up 1/2 to 1/3 of the Jar! I do not think they can incorporate this along with UV and thier new lids. You would break the internet ffs!

@GnarJars Niko the sleeve sounds cool a simple flimsy sock type thing you add to normal jars or what? And then a dedicated UV Glass version too? Sounds amazing i hope by the time this is all done the lids have matured into solid colors too?

That will be the second i will order then i need one of these new lids although im still opening the closet every day or two and having a good whiff around and it is pretty much gone now so i think new lids with the oil layer i mentioned will mean not even the most dank and eye watering armoas will be safe. Looks like a big year ahead for you then Niko :D
