Anyone have good techniques for wood stems that fit a bit loose? I think it's just old and Stretched from wear? Maybe sand off a cm?

Have you tried using a Ti tip instead of Stainless?

I usually cut and roll up a narrow strip of 0.1mm stainless steel foil to line the countersink with and to reduce its inner diameter a bit, if it gets worn out.

Rolled up strip of thin cardboard or stiff paper does an equally good job there, but has to be changed out now and then.

New o rings will probably be a tiny bit larger or you could buy bigger ones if you think you need to
Cotton thread is another option

Take some hemp fiber or cotton, or even a strand of hempwick (unraveled, a single strand) and wrap around the o-rings.
