Ugh! I cringe whenever I see this acronym injected throughout postings online. Unless you're citing a specific source it's all "you're opinion", no?

Not necessarily. Sometimes it may be an opinion, sometimes it is an experience one had, sometimes it is citable info for which the source was lost (IIRC), etc.

I, too, get frustrated with anything done unnecessarily/redundantly, but appreciate people differentiating opinions, experiences, facts, group consensus, reports, etc.

How about people stating opinions, experiences, etc. and presenting them as fact??? Ugggh!
