I just got home from the hospital from having my apendex removed liposcopticly.
It didnt burst, but it was very pain full and now after the sugery i am in a lot of pain eveytime the oxycodone wares off .

I only was given a limited amount of pills they do work and work pretty well so far but i want them to last .and from previous experience using opioids its the constipation that gets me the most .

This all started 2am thursday when i woke up in pain. surgery was friday night at about 1 am so its now been no cannabis since wensday evening . i have cannabis eddible cbd only oil and some soft gel capsals with 2 .5 mg thc and 4mg cbd and lots of flower of varying cbd and thc strains . i use cannabis mostly vaping very , very rarely the oil or capsals .
I vape every day usually cbd and thc strans mixed together.

I know people use cannabis for pain but for me it never seemed to work for pain like i had read it does for others and for serious pain like broken bones or sugery type stuff i still have my doubts .

But here i am in serious pain with bud and oil and thc and cbd . anybody eles out there used cannabis and opiods together to try and help the pain ? And how did it work for you ? Im a little leary about combining the two but if it could help me take less of the opiods and really work that would be good any one want to share any experience . im a little afraid of having a bad reation if i mix them like over anxity or something lime that or geern out or white out or something as i can be prone to anxity as it is

Hey, I'm 64 years old and went through what you're describing when I was 18 years old back in 1972. Young and dumb and full of cum; them were the days! :myday:

Cannabis can help with mild, chronic pain but otherwise forget it.

That "'wisdom", take it or leave it, comes from a lot of years of using cannabis along side my friends who've used as well.

For post-surgical pain you need opioids! Period!

You will probably need 30 day prescription and then quite possibly, ask your doctor to help you taper off your dependency, which is likely to develop even over just 30 days! However, a 30 taper should be breeze for a heretofore naive user.

I have used cannabis and dilaudid (morphine) together successfully for severe pancreatic pain.

Over a period of 28 months following severe food poisoning which damaged my liver, kidneys and pancreas and a plethora of unbelievable related symptoms and neurological damage, I was in and out of the hospital and went through several experimental procedures. Two specialists and my primary physician told me that I was lucky to have survived. I was hospitalized about two dozen times and each averaged a week long stay. A prescription for dulaudid accompanied each release.

Now, it absolutely worked well for the pain, but it often knocked me out or left me in a nonfunctional awake state. I started experimenting with different strains and different amounts. Surprisingly, a home grown plant called Remedy was the ticket to easing pain and reducing nausea. A Vapcap full every hour enabled me to reduce the dilaudid dose by half, then three quarters and finally all together as I recovered. The bud did not eradicate the pain totally but it helped reduce it to a tolerable level. My dilaudid frequency went from every 4 hours to once or twice a day to intermittently through the week. Then finally I stopped it and just carried on with the bud.

Remedy is a high CBD strain. Now that I've completely recovered from that horrid experience, when I toke it it produces a nice light high and it's hard to believe that it was so helpful.

So my advice is to augment your painkillers with bud and try as many strains as you can get your hands on. Hopefully you will find one that helps you to effectively reduce the pharmaceuticals.

I had surgery to screw a bone in my hand back together late last year and they gave me Oxycodone too.

I’ve been using cannabis since I got my card almost 4 years ago to treat pain and inflammation, and I switched back just a few days after surgery.

I still had a few more of the oxy pills during the day over the next week or two when pain was particularly bad and I didn’t want to start vaporozing or edibles early, but there was never an overlap in noticeable effects because I waited like 4-8 hours between them.

For me, the pills did help with the pain from surgery, but they didn’t do very well with my pre-existing pain. Cannabis worked for both.

I’m not saying @Fat Freddy is wrong about how it works for him, but for me it works better on the pain and inflammation I always have than literally anything else I’ve tried, including prescription NSAIDs, Oxycodone, etc.

What works best for me is generally vaporizing a good indica (Granddaddy Purple is my favorite) mixed with whole plant edibles (as opposed to those that are made with just THC extracts).

If you do decide to try both at once, I did see something recently about positive results from mixing them (lower oxy dosages with I believe equal or better results compared to oxy alone), so I’d do a bit of searching and see what sounds best to you.

I doubt it’s good to use large amounts of oxy with it, but low doses may be okay, just check it out for yourself before mixing them.

I did some reading on it but i still havnt vaped yet . i managed to get by all day today with just one extra strength tylonal and one advil . then just about an hour ago took one 5mg oxycodone i dont think i will need to many more of the oxy .

And i guess i will just consider it a bit of a t break as far as the cannabis last time i vaped was wensday so its will be almost a week if i vape tommor

OK, do you have something to take for the constipation, and have you talked to your GP about proper pain relief? Discuss the pain using unemotional language, so don't say it's "agony", they will think you are exaggerating. Use a scale of 1 to 10, and tell them how it impacts your life in practical ways, like does it keep you awake for half the night.

And then get them to prescribe something for the constipation, because that is no fun at all and trust me, you do not want a fissure. If it takes a while to get to your GP, a pharmacist should be able to prescribe something appropriate for the constipation. Pharmacists are great. I use Movicol myself, and know to take it if I'm taking any opioids at all.

Do you have someone around? The obvious problem with combining opioids and pot is that you could get very dizzy and fall, or lose track of eating and drinking properly.

Most people are deficient in Magnesium due to lack of leafy greens like kale in their diet, depleted magnesium in the soils in which our veggies are grown and the ubiquitous glysophates residues which block plants from absorbing what magnesium there is. It is estimated that at least 80% of the population is deficient in this important mineral.

The good news is that many magnesium supliments, such as magnesium citrate have a laxative effect, are calming and help you to sleep, among other benefits. It can be taken in quite large amounts so you just take enough to relieve the opioid induced constipation. Start with the recommended amount listed on the bottle and increase as needed. Take before going to bed.

Magnesium is great stuff, but for a situation like this I'd get something prescribed. You don't want to be faffing around for a week trying to get the dose and type of magnesium right. It's also not the best type of laxative.

The problem with the prescribed laxatives is that they're not meant to be taken regularly. When I was on dulaudid for two years, regular high doses of magnesium was an absolute gift from God. I took a heaping tablespoon of the stuff every night before bed. Wonderful stuff! YMMV

In the hospital they would give me their prescribed stuff. It's harsher, more aggressive. But, not more effective, especially long term and by that I mean it shouldn't be taken for more than a few days in a row.

Well so far today i have not taken any pills no tylonal , advil or oxy.

I guess im healing well . i am still sore but nothing i cant handel. What i cant handel is the bloated constipated feeling i seem to be suffering from . maybe its just as much from the appendicitus as the opiods , im not sure but man i hate that feeling .

I am taking stool softeners and have had a couple movements but ya that has always been the worst for me with opioids . honestly i dont know how people can get addicted to them for that reason . i guess they must have better guts then me because there is no way i could get addicted to them for that fact alone.

Anyway i vaped a couple times today some 1 to 1 ratio stuff . not sure if it did anything at all for the pain . but it did make me happier i guess
