Coffees...........

Holy Moly Batman. I've been a multi-cup coffee drinker for a very long time. Currently use an AerobiePress which I really like, but that's not the reason I posted this. The reason that I posted this is that I have just had some coffee that packed more of an adrenaline rush than ANY coffee that I have ever had previously..........and that's just after one cup.

I use an online roaster (Paradise Roasters) who mails me a different bag of whole bean coffee every week from all over the world, but they sent me something new that I'v'e never had before: India Liberica (medium roast) from the Sethuraman Estate. I brewed one cup, and within 10 min, I had to peel myself off the ceiling. WOW !! I then went on their site and read the disclaimer under this particular coffee. It said, in italics: "Warning. Liberica has significantly more caffeine than other species".

No shit !!

I then did a search and found out that it typically has 3 times the amount of caffeine than your typical Arabica or Robusta beans. I had no idea that caffeine content could vary that much between species.

So...........if ya like coffee, not only for the taste, but what it can do for your state of mind, ya gotta search this one out and give it a shot, unless of course, an intense caffeine rush isn't your.............cup of tea, so to speak. :brow:

I love a good cup of french press coffee. Soooo much better than the hot water dripping thing my parents use. Perfect mornings for me always start with a good cup of coffee and my vaporizer ;)

I'm a big coffee drinker as well—I normally get pounds of coffee from a local roaster, Jones. It's great coffee and if you use their 'featured' deal it's very reasonably priced—I just wish the type of featured coffee would rotate more often. I sometimes find myself buying a much more expensive pound of coffee for some variety.

I'm gonna have to find that kind of coffee soon! I often have a cup (or two) with a morning vape, and it puts me in a great place. I don't really feel caffeine that much anymore—but when combined with weed I definitely feel the impact. I think Liberica may be just the thing ;)

hmmm, choose your source wisely . I've just read up on folk lamenting it's aroma of over-ripe fermenting fruit, or described as "so repulsive it became interesting" or "Only cupped it once and it was unpleasant at best (fully washed)." lol

I can't seem to find any on line in the UK, except at the London department store Fortnum and Mason's restaurant, where it costs £8 a cup :o. I expect this will require calls to specialist dealers

Regarding taste, for me, I don't find it repulsive, but............I have had better tasting coffees, but I've never had a coffee that packs this kind of wallop..........never. In doing a bit more research, this coffee has 3 times the amount of caffeine as other coffees (although to me, it feels even more than 3 times the amount). I usually drink 2 to 3 cups of coffee back to back in the morning. One cup of this does me just fine. Kind of reminds me of using my PD. ;)

But I do agree with Wat. Choosing your source for coffee is just as important as choosing your source for MJ for the grower and roaster and specialized processing can make a HUGE difference no matter what coffee one gets.

This is where I get mine and a page from this particular species: http://www.paradiseroasters.com/india-liberica/

Edit:
I had this coffee for the second time this morning. If any of you do decide to try this, I have to offer this warning. If you drink coffee primarily for the taste, I'd look elsewhere, not because it's a bad tasting coffee, but because it's affect is so fucking intense that you won't want a second cup until someone scrapes you off the ceiling, and believe me, my caffeine tolerance is pretty damn high.

lwien,
Hehe sounds like some pretty good coffee. That service sounds pretty cool too, Didn't know there were online distributions of unique coffee beans, Thanks for enlightening me :p

My pleasure.

One of the great things about Paradise other than the relationships that they have with their cultivators, is that they roast to order 3 days a week unlike the coffee that you buy at other places that could be months to a year old and that makes a pretty damn big difference. I know that there are a few here who roast their own and I am sure that they can also testify as to the difference between freshly roasted coffee beans and those that have been sitting on the shelf or in bins for months on end.

One thing I notice about coffee—when I smoke, drinking coffee just offsets the 'heavy' effect of smoking. Whereas when I vape, the vape high is very active and uplifting already—so the coffee actually enhances my high. :) Definitely gonna have to track this stuff down at some point.

Just enjoyed a couple cups of french press coffee with beans from a local roaster. :)
