Cleaning element and cup in oil pen with 99% iso?

My vape pen (skillet style with ceramic cup and glass globe) is getting gummed up and due to some dirty oil earlier is getting a bit of carbon on the element.
I'd like to clean it by soaking it in 99% iso.
Head shops say it'll kill thee element but I don't see how as ISO is used to clean electronics all the time.
Will the wicks be okay after I dry it thoroughly?
Any insight appreciated

I wouldn't soak, but if I did I would avoid soaking for too long. If the element is crap then it will likely fail, however I have cleaned the coil on my VB Dabbler many, many times and it still works very well. Look in the Dabbler thread, Vitolo posted a great video about cleaning it.
