There were never words like, "Sam, was a basket case..." or "So this is a drive in restaurant in Hollywood . . ." certainly one of a kind.

Isn't today posthumously Frank Zappa's 70th birthday? I believe this is so, and if you know the history, if you grew up with this history, this is both sad and poignant.

In 1977 Captain Beefheart played at my college in Buffalo and my friend Scott picked him up at the airport in his car. He said he was very strange, looking out the window, saying nothing.
Scott turned on the radio, Van Vliet quickly turned it off, stating, "I hate music."
That night they performed, one of the most remarkable concerts I've ever witnessed. It was, I believe, a Halloween concert.
