Can ISO + Salt scratch glass?

Vapor Sloth
Are there any other methods of cleaning glass you guys/gals have used? . . . I have a tube with some stubborn stains that I haven't found anything to remove them, not even some CLR (Calcium Lime Rust). I've tried everything . . .
Tweak, go to your local home brew/wine store and get some PBW (Powdered Brewery Wash) I'm experimenting with it now and its amazing. Here is a repost of some info I put in the fritted disc thread the other day:

I really wasn't ready to drop this on FC yet since I am still testing this, but the discussion here has prompted me to publish this info early.

I'm not a research chemist but I read them for recreational purposes. If you really want to understand soil formation and the role of chemistry in cleaning then read this:

A sneak peek into what I am testing right now, this is what the beer & wine folks use (wine folks need to clean lots of heavily soiled lab glass & equipment) its amazing stuff, cleans everything, rinses easily, good for the environment, concentrated powder mixes in your glass, economical, NO shaking . . . just hot water, a little dwell time, then rinse down the drain. Presto, squeaky clean glass.

Testing will be moving on to this today:

And another post from my HT Flush Device thread . . . http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/ht-flush-device.7263/

A little update, this will give you guys some idea what I have in mind for my complete cleaning system. It started with the HT flush hose and then I scouted and added the first test chemicals. One powder, one dwell time, one rinse. This is TEST footage guys, please don't hash me up for violating safety rules, swearing, using and almost breaking a one of a kind prototype to test on (Its ok, I know my chemistry AND my contact dermatitis) ;)

a base bath should work

Yeah I only use it for a few minutes, not really a soak. I see alka seltzer has a pH of 9.2.

Funny you should mention a base. I was just wondering last night what the affects of your water's pH balance might have and how it might effect activities.

rock salt 2
glass 4.5
4.5>2, and > means that it's not < than or = to, and therefore will not scratch.

That would be me. Yeah I've seen the hardness scale but wondered if maybe a saline solution might have some acidic properties that would allow it to eat glass better than just salt alone.

Awesome. Will give it a try if I can find some.

most base baths use KOH and Isopropanol. pH is around 13-14.
It's actually HIGH pH that eats glass, NOT LOW pH.
glass is amorphous silica
