Buying illegal drugs online now possible?!

Alright I'll try and make this short and sweet

Yesterday I read this story about the existence of an "anonymous" black market where sellers list items they have for sale (cannabis, mushrooms, dmt, benzodiazepines, etc), and buyers can purchase from them directly and anonymously. These items are then shipped discretely to your door! Sounds insane right?

Here's how it works:
The market is called the "Silk Road" and it can only be accessed through the anonymous browser Tor. Once downloaded and installed, you run the Tor browser that comes bundled with the software (which is basically mozilla firefox) and log onto this website: http://ianxz6zefk72ulzz.onion/

How are buyers' identity protected when purchasing these items? Two ways, through anonymous browsing and anonymous paying. Tor will theoretically allow you to surf anonymously. Any site you visit cannot be traced back to you. This is fine and dandy, but the real kicker here is how buyers pay for goods. The economic currency of this market is bitcoins. Bitcoins are a type of digital currency that people buy, sell, and trade just like any other fiat commodity. Sellers look at how much bitcoins are trading for, and set their prices to rival street prices for their goods.

Yesterday to check this out, I went onto the site and saw a few people selling an eighth of high quality bud for about $50-60. Yesterday bitcoins were trading at a value of 1 bitcoin = 10.5 USD, and the sellers had listed their items at 4.80-5.90 bitcoins.

Since yesterday, bitcoins have skyrocketed and are now trading at almost $14 per bitcoin! I believe a bubble is forming since this story broke nationally and people are trying to get in on this action. Regardless of price, questions have been raised about the anonymity of bitcoins. Many people have stated that bitcoins can be traced back to people who have "owned" them at one time.

Oh plus the website allows you to review each seller, and buyers will often write how their transactions went. By default, Silk Road lists items in order of seller feedback rating. Of the reviews I've seen (which was only for one seller), buyers have received their orders quickly and discreetly through USPS.

I have not engaged in purchasing illegal substances through this website nor do I condone such behavior. I'm merely listing this for informative purposes. I wonder how long it will take for the government to shut this website down...

Here's an example of what it looks like

note the price is 5.48 bitcoins, and at about $14/bitcoin, that equates to just over $75 for 4 grams of GDP

Its sites like this and well, more black market shit that detracts (or adds depending on how you look at it) to this 'war' that is being waged.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again - I FUCKING HATE the black market.

I think it's pretty cool....
altough I wonder how long before they crack down on tor, I've also heard from a friend that he read about pedophiles using tor to anonymously exchange child porn, but I only know it as a proxyprogram, that friend told me ot's a network too, and I hear about the browser for the first time now
I'll check it out, the prices will probably be high for me or not ship to me, but maybe there are also nice deals for the neether;ands on...
abd I'm just curious:p

checked it out, interesting but pretty expensive

I don't think sites like this affect the drug war. These sites are merely the byproduct of people's desire for goods. Whether they happen online, in your neighbor's house down the street, or in the basement of a business, black markets will exist if a desired product cannot be legally obtained

I absolutely hate the black market as well, but it is an unfortunate and necessary side effect from the drug war. Instead of the government going after these black markets, they should devote resources to ending the unjust laws which sustain them. I would love to stroll down to my local convenience store and pick up some cannabis, as I can with alcohol or tobacco, instead of dealing with shady people in shady environments while constantly fearing arrest.

I tend not to buy weed online because it's more expensive and no better than what I can get locally. But I do buy hash online, perhaps once every 2 months, because I just can't get it otherwise. Sometimes the black market is forced on you :(

Really sucks when websites like this get brought into the open. There's a reason they are so private and when you get websites putting out articles about them it really ruins it for a lot of people. Yes, there are people out there who either can't get bud/others locally or don't have the selection you can get online. It's really not the smartest way of procuring such substances, but to some it's their only choice. Quite sad, and it's only a matter of time before someone opens their mouth about the others that are out there.

Like others mentioned, I believe this was posted yesterday and was discarded pretty quickly. I wouldn't post stuff like this on a well-moderated forum like FC.

Clearly stated in the rules:

I'm surprised this thread is still open.

imo this topic was more so informative, op wasn't looking to sell, or buy.

but i can understand also that its a bit of a 'grey area'.

aside from cannabis being put along side other drugs, guns, and illegal activity (such as selling credit cards and bank infos)...i think the "idea" is interesting, to say the least.

Absolutely. As I stated earlier, I wish not to promote the illegal buying and selling of substances. My intention was to introduce a topic and engage the FC community in intelligent discourse.

I think the development of Tor/Silk Road and utilization of digital currency is absolutely fascinating. I just checked and bitcoins are now selling at $17/bitcoin! That's insane! In less than a week, bitcoins more than doubled in value. It seems like a bubble is forming around this currency, and it's going to be interesting to see how everything unfolds.

Way to drop the discourse bomb... Said like a true scholar.

Anyways, I think discussions like these are harmless and the threads shouldn't be closed... Underground markets affect opinions, and opinions are important when you're trying to get certain medicines allowed in certain states.

It's a discussion, not a buyers how-to, ya know?
