Buddha or Surfer?

I’m looking to purchase one of these vapes with the Baller modification to get the raw dab hits Steve shows in his video.

Will the performance of the Buddha be similar to the surfer for this type of a set up through a water piece?

I only own the Buddha so I don't know for sure but I believe the heater and number of balls is roughly the same for both. Maybe someone else can weigh in?

Edit: I'd have a look on the elev8 glass gallery site but I believe their heaters are identical. I can tell you that the Buddha baller is a beast. Most powerful vape I own.

The SSV is supposed to be able to support more heater cover type:

But since the baller mod, I don't know how it works, the SSV has a spherical ground glass:

While the DBV has a conical ground glass:

So I don't know if the DBV baller mode will be compatible with the SSV? or are they planning to release the new heater cover SSV for baller mode? so it depends on how you want to use it. According to my information, it seems to have the same heating element, only the dimmer on some versions varies, as does the heater cover type (and heater stand) and, of course, the straight or inclined shape.

But both are great

Edit: it seems that "Recommended Vape Supplies" is the only one at present to offer the baller mode in conical ground glass for the SSV:

Performance should be very close, they're essentially the same thing but with different heater covers. The SSV has different wand choices and is angled to help keep the herbs in the wand. HOWEVER, this is not really necessary--a light tamp with the pick will keep the herbs in place and good airflow with the DBV's conical wand.

One thing I've read is that the DBV's upright position makes it better for concentrates because the dish sits flat. Otherwise the SSV's spherical wand seems much-loved, from what I can tell.

I tried the air solo 2 for a day and it’s too restrictive I can’t use the damn thing.
It was restrictive, even when using a bubbler.
I would like to try the Silver surfer, but I don’t wanna be stuck with a vape I spent a few hundred bucks for that doesn’t work well for me.

I haven't tried a Solo but the DBV at least is pretty comfortable with the hose (it's great with a recycler) but it's more open with the glass vapor path:

Basically you're pulling through a stack of balls and a ~.35" layer of herbs; you can feel it but it will do direct-to-lung quite comfortably, especially with a courser grind. If you do get a glass path, ask if they'll add dimples for cooling.

Otherwise check out the DBV thread for other great ideas:

Hey !
SSV owner here !

as said before
But both are great

You can't go wrong with these 2 devices (and if you are searching for a full - native - glass path experience ? have a look at the LSV too ! ^^ )
They are very similar… so just pick the one you like the best and enjoy !

I modded my SSV with a cut (clean) downstem from a bong around the glowing rod to give it more thermal mass, and now i have a powerfull SSV on steroïds !
steamboat, powerhouse, it tickle so many boxes.. and so versatile too with 19mm conical heater and all the dedicated glass galaxy around.
