What up FC? I just registered for electrical maintenance/construction at my local college. Anyone else like messing around with wires?

Hey since your just getting into it.....

Q: How can you tell when you are getting shocked by AC or DC?
A: With AC, your teeth will chatter, with DC you just bite down.

    It was either that or....

Two atoms were walking down the street one day, when one of them exclaimed, “Oh no – I’ve lost an electron!” “Are you sure?” the other one asked. “Yes,” replied the first one, “I’m positive.”

Anyway, getting back to your question.....

I have been known to dabble in live high voltage fun....

    Just a hobby though...

I actually do it for a living!

    Best Advice....

Get a nice pair of insulated boots, insulated tools, and keep one hand and one leg tied behind your back!

I work on high voltage and low voltage equipment not an electrician by trade but HVAC/R usually work on stuff anywhere from 24v-480v and get to play with VFD's, contactors, etc. Some of the places I work in run 5kv motors/pumps though.
