Ok so along with the desired and undesired effects MJ has some clear but not exactly bad "periphery" effects. Im wondering over time to they diminish or do you just get used to them to the point they don't effect you much anymore?

Im thinking things like strange feelings behind the eyes (used a new strain this week and it felt like I had fishing weights rolling around in there), heaviness or lightness of certain part of the body, tingling, light sensitivity, etc...

Im trying to figure out what works and doesn't. If its mild to annoying I keep using that one and wait it out, but for the more bothersome one should I wait it out or stop that strain?

I find that the effects are not always strain dependant and depends on other factors like how I fell am I tired how run down am I etc.

For instance I had some amnesia haze late at night and it just made me fall asleep.

Great points for sure I try to take that into account but it is hard to separate it out. I did some more scientific mixing today (by weight) and bagged it up so its ready to load.

Terpenes, along with the other things in cannabis, can alter the effects and/or add their own.

As far as those periphery effects, I've learned to embrace them. My daily usage levels do not generally produce them, but my after work/weekend levels do. When I feel those, I can check my BP and it is down. This makes me very happy. :)

For sure! Im still trying o figure out which terps I like and how they effect me. So far anything with a pine to it seems to keep me more focused than stoney/tired. I think the hard part for me is the feeling of my vision or balance being altered. I already have inner ear issues so it can really amplify that feeling thought hankfully it hasn't triggered any bad vertigo for me. For me thus far ive only measured pulse regularly and it goes up between 10 and 15 point when I use MJ. My hearts been acting up for a while so my blood pressure yo-yo's and im naturally low there anyway.

Im still at the point in my journey of just using some kind of MJ daily to get a feel for it. I don't have it down to a predictable pattern yet. Next up I think will be big bud see what I feel on that

Have you read @DDave 's story? He has been real successful with mj and vertigo issues. Maybe he's got a strain that works best...

    Hope these help!

Daily Dizziness: (Allows me to be functional).
    Blue Dream
    Dream Queen

Major Episodes: (So severe, Day's written off. Only relief is heavy sedation.)
    Purple OG
    Superman OG
Any HEAVY, Sleep Inducing strain. (This is basically to sleep off the worst part of the episodes, where there would be a great deal of nausea.)

Thank you @DDave I opened it in a new tab gonna grab some tea and read it through :). Thanks so much for the reccs. I tried a hybrid with blue dream as a parent but it made me too racy. I hope to get my hands on the real deal sometime though. Never heard of dream queen but its going on my list to research and find near me. Hmmm I remember seeing purple OG but it isn't on my recent purchases maybe I saw it as a parent... will add those as well. The seond list sound slike heavy hitters which is probablyt oo much for me right now. one hit of GDP wasn't a fun experience for me so I mostly bought lighter stuff.

In case you cant tell im a list maker supreme lol. I have all my lists sorted by indica/sativa/hybrid/edible then by general % of active compounds if I can find it.

@GenYHippie , good luck with your search and finding the desired strains! Yeah, the heavy hitters are for days that would be written off anyway due to extreme vertigo, and are strong. On those days, would rather be pleasantly asleep than the alternative.

If you come up with strains that help, please do share as well! I take a decent amount of notes myself...

Thank you its great to have a starting point to work from I really appreciate you sharing. Oh man I WISH the GDP has put me to sleep that would have been far preferable to a night ont he bathroom floor. If I find anything along the way I will surely post it :). In the last week ive bought more than 15 strains to try out so I will report as I get a feel for them.

Two more variables: dose and temperature. For a lot of medical use with today's strains, one good hit is plenty. And with a vaporizer you can control which terps and cannabinoids you're getting, by adjusting the temp. Personally I only want the low temp fractions, the rest just makes me tired.

Yes still trying to work that out. Its so weird that on a low temp the same batch of the same strain makes me sleepy, then on high temp....well lets just say id be in bed very much not sleeping ;). I just tried bif bud last night with pretty much no negative effects but it took more hits so I may try less hits on higher temp tonigh

Also they are plants after all. Doses can vary within a bud, from bud to bud and then you get phenotypes that are so different. A famous phenotype is UK Cheese its a pheno of Skunk before skunk had its original pungent smell bred out of it. I guess a lot of mmj is also clones to avoid phenos?

So two doses despite best efforts may sometimes be random sometimes.

Also I find some strains appear average at 1st but grow on me with hidden depths.

So try as you might it's hard to make it an exact science. If in doubt take it slow.

I can see how it's difficult to deal with so many variables so my honest advice is trial and error as humans we learn and self medicate.

If you ever have a whitey sorry don't know the American phrase for it don't worry lay down in a dark quiet room maybe a table lamp only and relax they always pass.

Perhaps with those heavy hitters you dont like you could grab yourself a wicca box (kief box), and shed some trichs to store away leaving you with less of a heavy dosing to vape.

Ya never now, you just might find a desirable strain that may work for you having toned it down. It would also leave you with kief to possibly extract, apply some heat, and experiment some different edibles.

Yup the upside and the downside. Its a plant its untampered but its a plant and untampered thus not standardized. Slow is definitely my way to go, I feel its more promising now that I have two I like (one is lab tested so that's sort of a good guide for future batches) hopefully as my tolerance build just a bit I will find more specific effects of certain types and grow methods. My main dispensary is really good about listing what condition it was grown in, organic, sun, shade, hydroponic, etc... so assuming they are truthful that's nice guidance. But the dispensaries down by my sister are a lot cheaper. Its normal to find a $7 - $10 gram there whereas here that's unusual. So its a trade off to know less about it but pay less, or know more (including the testing) and pay more.

Right now I want to have variety to see how each makes me feel so I went a bit nuts at my sisters once I get a better feel then I may stock up on 1/2's or ounces while im there if the gram goes well then buy the rest here where I have more info about each batch.

Thanks for the advice on a "whitey" im going to look that up. I do try to make a good calm environment when I try new ones or up the dose. Im not so goo in quiet at night so I typically go in a dark calm roomw ith a movie. In the morning I do fine in quiet for whatever reason im not so overly analytical in the AM so as long as its not to bright im pretty good to go.

Lol we posted just about the same time :). A wicca/keif box huh? I have a four chamber grinder would that suffice? Ive seen people add coins to them to shake out extra keif so maybe that would work? I do have a keif infused honey stick to try if I like that it would be a great use of keif I loooove honey.

ETA - Ok so I went and looked a little bit. Seems that one DIY way of it is to put tiny stainless ball bearings in the lower chamber. Nail polish shaker size or a bit bigger seems to be what people linked to.

I would imagine it would suffice to at least try... I don't own a 4-piece myself as I never had the need since always owning a box (like the sifting regimen, am a kief whore, and always had an abundance to play with being a grower ;) ).

We all have our favorite parts of the routine cant count that against ya :). I find funneling the grind into containers or travel baggies very soothing. Thank you for pointing out the keif thing to me It didn't even occur to me to do that. I saw kief read about it and that is was mostly used for extra potency so I put it to the sie of my memory banks. Having no tolerance I have no need for extra right now, except for edibles. Think the extra would be good for topicals? Im about to embark on a coconut oil infusion here with my ABV and shake I picked up.

Ahhh thanks for the link thats a bit more speific than what i found. Oddly enough i find my pulse goes up when i measure after using MJ the times ive tested it my blood pressure varies depending on how speedy the strain in but it generally doesnt go lower then my usual 90/60 range.

I seem to be slightly immune to fainting, possibly due to having such low pressure anyway. Its not like im going from 130/80 to 90/60. I notice fluctuation up more than down just by feel. Sorry youve experienced a whitey though, hope you dont find yourself with some contaminated green again

Whiteys are not to be confused with anxiety felt in some situations when you've over indulged although whiteys are from over indulgence etc not sure I could vape my way to one.

The dodgy hash is a thing of the past thanks to the green revolution. Any hash I get now is great but is rare nowadays to get uk hash where as in the 1980s that's all there was.
