A lost Vincent D'Onfrio movie.

I was wondering if FC could help me remember a movie Vince made.He was a blind ex athlete who embarked on a cross counrty adventure with a african american paralized man.They were each others helpng hands and eyes and leggs.For some reason this movie is not in Vinces imdb.
My friend believes the movie is named and based on a true story that shares the same name with a charity.The Name might have 'wings' or some thing with that word.My friend and myself have been stumped for a few years and if any group could help a guy its FC.

I dont think thats it.That looks like its based in the 30's.The 1 i'm looking for is based in the early 80's and is kind of a feel good type story.Unless I'm looking at the wrong movie.Thats a fast response.thanks @SSVUN~YAH throw me another title.

My work partner and myself have discussed that movie for 4 yrs trying to come up with that title.It's a surprisingly heart warming funny as shit(pun intended) movie that has disappeared.
