Rosin can be very waxy,. I have had some luck filtering the wax out through a 25u screen, but its not easy. Too much pressure and heat will push it through the screen. Some strains are much worse than others.

Clogging seems to be an issue with all porous wicks. the nice thing about the fc2000 wick is you can unwrap it, torch the wick, and then rewire it like new.

I rebuild every mine few weeks as they load up.

Is there any reason not to torch the whole coil/wick together? (assuming coil is still intact and works)

I've torched coils as I'm building them (to help tighten gaps between coils I squeeze them together with pliers while torching).
Should I avoid doing this?

It would depend on the atty and the wire used I guess? Ti wire seems to change resistance after it glows and then it acts different for me.

i still think the best coil/wick combo ive used is the solid core coil with clapton wrapped around it. the coil itself is a wick. its all about the clapton being a spaced coil instead of solid. to provide lots of little spaces for the oil to rest in. between the solid core and the little spaces... the oil vapes very well. i get very little runoff if any. im using lightingvapes Ti and i think it gives me a very clean flavor. im building a new coil tonight. i will make sure to take pics.

i have never been able to get results with a mesh wick. maybe it was the mesh i had i dont know, but it always tasted like metal.

oh and i think i want to try a postless RDA. i love my stumpy, but cant help but think that a postless deck will be easier to build on.

Got any pictures yet?

Well I'm like a month late and this post wasn't directed at me but here is a picture of my interpretation of what 2clicker is talking about. I have been using coils like this one for months with by far the best results compared to all other methods I've used from things I've learned in this thread. Only bad part is that after a couple of weeks of use the splatter gets bad, still much better than other methods. But for a while (like a week or two) it literally gives you no back splatter at all. My theory is that left over shatter/oil residue gets stuck in the coil and doesn't allow new dabs that you are loading on to stick to the coil as well as it once would, which causes more splatter. Kind of like trying to add more water to a sponge that's already full. But you can soak the entire rda in Iso or everclear and clean the whole thing (coil still attached and all) then after a couple of very low temp dry burns and time for any other alcohol to evap then you are good to go. The coil will overall hold the oil much better for a while after you clean but ultimately you will need to change the coil after about a month or two of doing this. This is simply my experience so that you guys can do what you want with the knowledge. Hope it helps. Picture of newly wound coil or coils below.

It is essentially a titanium fused Clapton (wrapped with 32g kanthal) wrapped around a standard 26g titanium coil. Like 2 clicker said, the middle coil acts as the wick to vape excess oil splatter that falls beneath the Clapton.

Holy moly i feel like im reading a different language. Looking to rebuild some broken Dabbler skillets. Can anyone link me to a post that tells me what size wire and core to buy? Or does anyone buy in bulk and sell material to members? Im in the USA and can paypal money.

I can hook you up as I have extra wire and rdx wick. What type of skillet do you have?

So I ordered a VTC mini, and a couple KISS carts. This is my first MOD, did I make a good choice? what is everyone's favorite RDA? I am looking for "the one-hitter quitter" like title of the thread. Any advice on the "best" option for my needs? It will only be used for Rosin, Wax, shatter. Rosin snuffs out the MUAD DIB screens after minimal use. That fake Dr.Dabber thing doesn't give big enough hits. So, I am using my e-nail til Tuesday. Please share your opinions on what I should get to go with the VTC mini, incase I don't like te Kiss carts. Thanks fir your help!
May I ask what settings you tried? There are a lot of vaporists using the Gen 3 KISS Carts and our Alpha Centauri in Temperature Control mode on your device. Settings are available in the sidebar at www.reddit.com/r/waxpen and please contact me for any further help with your KISS carts.

Is anyone else using stainless steel to make coils now? Locally there has been no TI so I gave it a shot. I do enjoy it, but I dont know too much about it...any of the gurus care to chime in on its safety or setting differences it requires compared to titanium?

I use a kayfun V4 filled with rosin, which I thin with connoisseur concentrates terpene blend. This setup performs without trouble or waste, and a whole tank full of concentrate can be consumed without any attention or maintenance at all.

A tank holds 4ml, or 2-3 grams of concentrate depending on how much of the terpene blend is required for thinning. This setup has become my favorite portable vaporizer, by far. Not only does it deliver instant and thick vapor, but now I can easily carry a few days worth of medicine, and can use it without needing to fuss or even think about it.

How do the thinking agents affect potency? Get concentrates regularly, so diversifying might not be a bad choice. Also does it affect smell?

The potency might not be quite as good as straight concentrate (1/2 to 3/4 as strong per unit volume), but the ease of delivery makes it the quickest and easiest way I've found to medicate.

I've used many different purpose built wax attachments and diy-ed RDA's for rosin over the past couple years, and this beats all of them. There's no need to reload as you go, no mess, and no additional containers or implements are needed for use. Ease of use, and volume and density of vapor make the RTA not only more efficient, but also more effective for me.

The thinning blend does affect the scent and taste. Connoisseur concentrates uses a broad spectrum of terpenes so the taste isn't made too harsh or unbalanced. Some of their flavors use artificial ingredients, but I purchased the grapefruit flavor which is all natural. In the future I think I'll try the tangerine or gorilla-13 flavors. The grapefruit isn't perfect, but it's not bad either- I'm happy using the rest of the solution I have before trying another flavor.

I'm not too sure about 'tanks' but I know for rebuild able atomizers, folks like the evil monk or the stumpy rda clone...basically you want something with room to build.

Yeah that's what I meant. I can hastily group tank/RDA/atomizer into one denotation sometimes.

I'm happy to finally fully make the move from flowers to concentrates.

Personally going to try a double arc'd Clapton coil w/ SS mesh. I plan for one resting on the bottom of each side of the RDA deck and bent to follow the curve of the cylindrical shape. Hopefully that maximizes the most extract efficiency with the least waste and achieves a more steady, constant vapor production over a certain period of time.

If you guys haven't tried these yet give em a shot, 2 for 12 bucks you can't go wrong.been using em for rosin and nothing but flavor every time! Quartz cups with duel Quartz wrapped coils. If your crafty like myself, then you can rebuild em too. they work with the generic globe setups, but man they are dope. just wanted to share this info......

@Joel W.

The flavor I have now contains only natural terpenes, and no pg/vg.

The terpenes used to make the blend come from botanicals that are less costly than cannabis. It's the same chemicals that are otherwise present in cannabis, they are just isolated from other sources.

They also have blends that contain artificial flavors in addition to the natural terpenes, and they're also pg/vg free, but that's not really my jam.

I find the citrus aspect of the grapefruit blend to be a little harsh, so you may want to try the gorilla 13 to start, depending on your own taste and interest. Whatver you decide to try, let me know how you find it.

I don't winterize, but I do filter the thinned rosin solution through a piece of t-sac brand filter. I find that's enough to remove all visible particulate and keep things from getting too messy or clogging inside the atomizer.

http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/connoisseur-concentrates.20705/

Check this thread out, im not certain that any of their products, including the "Organic Line", contain Only Terpenes. What i have gathered from that thread, emails to CC, and my personal experiences is that something else is in the mix.

I originally ordered a sample pack and opened them all to have a small sniff to see which flavor i wanted to try first. Within 24 hours the liquid in one of the vials had reduced without me using it. I decided to email them and ask a few questions. They were quick to fix the issue and reshipped me another sample pack and even threw in a few more flavors because i told them i wasnt going to be using the included burners anyways. Good customer service, but they did use the word "Evaporate" which puzzled me.. Do terps evaporate? and should they be a liquid at room temperature?

I've been messing with wax/budder/shatter and tried a bunch of different bullshit you can buy like the divine tribes 2.5 donut (haha it's a joke compared to this)

I've mostly been building on evil monk postless rdas. Tried some 500 SS mesh and I can't decide if I like that or the ceramic better but the FC-2000 wicks like you see here don't have any taste accompanying them aside from what your smoking and honestly they wick about the same but I seem to have more reclaim with the mesh.

This is a new build for me... I used a torch to heat 25g kanthal as I wrapped the fc2k rod. It came out way nice then my last one. It's a 13 wrap and 1.5 ohms. Everything else I've been building has been sub ohm and this honestly hits better maybe just because of the coil quality. You can get one really big hit off this ONE rod.

It's a phenotype l RDA clone base that was not machined nice and it was hard to pull the top off of so I put a Doge v2 authentic on top. Works great comes off nice and easy but still seals.

You can really saturate the whole rod and at 13.5w it's a good few seconds before you get a light red glow. I close the airholes about 80% of the way and take a 6 second rip and it's POOF.

P1QEFzd.jpg

It runs nice on 13.5 watts.

For comparison this is one of my old builds. Still hit like a champ but doesn't compare.

I did not hot wrap. No matter what I couldn't get a nice wrap even with thin guage..it'd be too springy. Took out the blowtorch this time and it was cake.

Thanks @chainz , I hadn't seen that thread.

Why do you believe that there is something else is in the CC mix? In the thread you linked, the manufacturer states their natural line of blends only contains only natural terpenes and essential oils.

They have another line that contains artificial flavors, and it looks like those may have a little pg in them, since it's used as a carrier for some of the artificial flavors used in those blends.

Terpenes do vaporize at room temperature. I have rosin that is greasy when it's fresh because it has such a high terpene content. If allowed to sit for long enough, the terpenes evaporate and it becomes pull-and-snap, and then eventually turns to shatter.

Terpenes are one type of aromatic chemical that plants produce. Plants can also produce esters and alcohols, and other kinds of aromatic chemicals in addition to terpenes. All these aromatic chemicals are volatile at room temperature- if they did not readily evaporate into a gas, we wouldn't be able to smell them.

Yeah that single wick is equal or better then those double wicks. Its a bit longer but the length of the rod and the coil on the rod seem to make no reclaim
