New to concentrates, titanium or quartz?

I have done a lot of research, and right now I have a quartz banger, but it seems everyone loves Ti. However, I have seen a few posts here reference the safety of titanium. Is there anything to worry about besides oxidization? Thanks!

Some people love Ti, some people love quartz, some people love SiC, etc. Generally I've seen people moving away from Ti to more taste neutral materials but it's all personal preference. Last I checked there hasn't been any deaths or people getting sick from even China Ti, I would probably be more concerned about other elements in your environment (air, water, chemicals, etc) first before concerning yourself with the relatively small risk of harm from your setup. Just buy a well known brand so you know you're getting grade 2 and you'll be as safe as you can get.

SiC is only for use with enails right? I don't have the money to invest in that right now.

I was looking at Titen and Ti Power for Ti nails. Also found out no one takes paypal anymore.

I recently went to quartz from ti, i noticed the flavor is better, WHEN you get it right!
Ever taste exploding concentrate? Tastes bad!

Ti is more forgiving IMO

So I have a question. I bought an IR thermometer to check the temp of my quartz banger, but when I point the gun in the banger the temp fluctuates all over the place. It will go from 200-600 flashing random numbers, even though I can tell its hotter than that by the hit. Am I doing something wrong? The thermometer gun doesn't do this unless I am pointing it at the quartz.

I paid ~$20 for a grav labs Ti stick nail and I kinda wish I'd spent it on a quartz banger instead. I like how quickly it heats up, but it also took forever for the bad taste to go away.

I like quartz a lot, been thinking of trying a ceramic nail as well as I've read they are more durable. Titanium tastes weird to me.

With quartz I let the nail cool for 15-20 seconds before I apply the concentrate. Been meaning to get an IR temp gun so I know at what temp I'm dabbing, but haven't yet. The 20sec wait time has been working quite well for good flavor & minimal harshness.

Due to a variety of factors you're just not going to get an accurate reading with an IR temp gun. Target is too small, sensor is too cheap, emmissivity varies across the surface, temp is falling quickly. To get an accurate temp you need physical contact with a thermocouple type K. Best method seems to be to time your torching and cool down times and just use those as guides, if you're more picky than that then it's time to start thinking about an e-nail.

im using quartz now but have noticed a minimal difference. Some people I know can tell a huge difference from surface to surface, others can barely tell at all. Im the latter, maybe a but better, but quartz is what im using and no issues yet.

I prefer quartz.
I've used a quartz banger daily, and saw no reason to go any other way, except that I wanted an e-nail, so now I have the D-Nail SiC Dish.

I love the enail setup way more than the banger, but the banger was great, but it took some playing around with a stop watch.

Heat nail to red hot, wait for red glow to dissapear, (depends on ambient light) start stopwatch for 45-50 seconds, dab, and definitely use a carb cap.

With that, the low temp quartz dabs were great.

My sic dish sits at 540* and is always perfect. It's amazing really.

I'm now a quartz banger the of guy.

I almost never get my quartz glowing red, i just blast.for a few seconds and cup my hands a few inches away, I kind of know when to dab now, after about 2 weeks.
Waiting 20 seconds to me is just a waste of time and butane...

I wanted an electric coil that wraps around my quartz nail, but then I though, 1 fucking dab and I'm good for 30 minutes, why the fuck would I need constant heat?
Maybe if I had a BUNCH of friends over trying to dab.
I'll save the 300 bucks until it's much cheaper.

I felt the same way about the enail. I'm one guy, why would I ever need one?

But my friend got one and it changed my mind. It's always ready to go and is always at the perfect temp. I have never done dabs this pleasant before and so consistently perfect.

I just turn it on when I get home and leave it on till I go to bed.

Though I am now doing way more smaller dabs. Just because it's fun now having it always ready to go. It's quite nice ditching the torch, at least at home.

Nah, I'm a pyro, gimme fire.

I have several benzomatics, and creme Brule torches.

I take one hit every 30 min, not worth the electric bill.

Also, waiting 15 min for it to warm up, very lame.

Like I said, I know the feeling.

But they heat up in less than 5 min.

And I was super stoked when I got my Blazer GT-8000 too. I love torches.

The enail is still awesome. :)
