Discontinued The Grasshopper

I've had my warranty replacement body for a week or so now and I've gotten to use it a few times and just thought I'd share my thoughts.

1. I no longer use it as my daily driver. That honor has fallen on my recent da buddha purchase.

2. It seems to me like this new body takes quite a bit longer than the old one to heat up. I generally vape on 3-3.5 (But I don't with this one, explained below) and it takes 10 seconds to heat up fully at that temp, where as the old one was at the desired heat in maybe half that time. The heat up time is still great, it's just not what it's supposed to be.

3. This new body seems to have quite a bit more draw resistance.

4. I don't think the heater is working properly. I have it turned all the way up to 5, I'm packing it exactly the same way I always did (that resulted in amazing vapor and clouds at lower temps) and I get...next to nothing. I have to try significantly harder than with my first grasshopper to get any real clouds. I'm sure if I try using it with a water pipe I'll finally get the clouds I want but I'm not going to do that since I'm pretty sure that's what broke it in the first place.

Conclusion:

While it's a great vaporizer in terms of stealth, as it is right now it can't be someone's daily vaporizer if they're actually looking for great vapor quality and flavor. As others have said, the vapor gets quite hot and uncomfortable. I don't know if my brand new warranty replacement body is malfunctioning or if this is just the new standard for the Grasshoppers, but I'll be putting mine away and only bringing it out if the situation calls for a stealthy, on demand vape. If I'm at home, I'll be using my da buddha or my OG Pax through a water pipe. Maybe I'll spring for a firefly 2 after my busy season, but the whole thing about having to use a smartphone app to change the heat settings is quite a bit of a turn off for me. I was so happy with this thing when I first got it but I can't honestly say I'm anything but disappointed with it now.

you are the first one to report declining Hopper performances. have you e-mailed to HopperLabs about your issue? maybe that is a glitch, not a new standard.

Damn, 2 hours later and still available. I'm pretty surprised actually. These are only like $295 US which is a damn good deal for being able to skip the line.

I just bought mine, Ti Model and it was $335 roughly, including upgraded shipping because I'm impatient.

Why did you have to spend the extra $30?? I am assuming you are from the USA??!
When I checked out, the most expedited shipping was already included, i thought?
Shit. I have to re check that now.

Maybe I am just a fool then... Lol and yes I am in the USA. I didn't realize it came with expedited shipping, I just assumed the UPS option would be faster!

I had a similar issue while ordering from Vapefiend. They had more expensive shipping options, but they didn't indicate how fast it would be if you upgraded. Because it didn't give an estimate for delivery for the $30 extra I just went with the free shipping. I used that $30 on accessories instead and I feel if I waited this long a can wait a few extra biz days.

but im to scared to try lol

just wondering if anyone else has tried it?
(sorry if this topic has already been covered)

Hopper labs says that you can use it and I think the general consensus is that the Nitcore i4 intelligent charger is the best($18 on Amazon), or was last time I checked in the depths of this thread.

My hope is to use my Nitecore when my pre-order arrives. However, didn't someone post recently that GHL recommended not using external chargers?

If it takes 10 seconds to warm up it is not working correctly. Send it in for warranty.

Honestly, I don't care enough at this point. Like I said, I'm only using it on rare occasions when stealth is necessary. It took a month to go through the warranty process last time and I'm too tired to go through that bullshit again. Oh, also, idk if anyone remembers how I said they didn't send me a tracking number even though they said they would. Well, they did send me a tracking number...4 days after the package was delivered. I'd rather deal with this defective piece of shit and then toss it in the trash when it finally completely shits the bed than go through their terrible warranty process again. If they manage to stay afloat and eventually put out another product, I won't be buying it. Terrible customer service, terrible business practices, and questionable quality control just cost Hopper Labs another customer.

seems kind of a waste- for the 5$ it takes to send it back to them you could have a perfectly working vape....
I view the $5 and all the time waiting for another one as a waste, especially if they keep sending defective parts. Like I said, 1 month for a new body. It's a waste of my time. Besides, I have 2 perfectly working vapes already. I may be about to add to that family of non-disappointments.

You can definitely use an external charger and hopper labs uses external chargers themselves for the batteries, totally safe.

@osolx26 I hear ya on not caring enough to get your clearly broken grasshopper replaced, whenever you decide you want the real experience you have a LIFETIME warranty! Seems like now, while you have other vapes to enjoy is the best time to send back your grasshopper since yours definitely sounds defective.

Like I said, I'm not going to use it very often anymore and I don't view it as being worth the trouble of going through the month(s) long warranty process to get this stupid thing fixed. I mean, they can't even do proper quality control on their warranty parts to make sure they're not sending out a fucked up body to replace another fucked up body. The way I see it, if they don't care enough to make sure their product works, why should I care to get it fixed every time it breaks? I might just make some e-juice and buy an e-cig for my stealth needs. Not like I have too many scenarios where I really need stealth anymore anyway, so even that would mostly just collect dust.

Very disappointing...osolx26 was one of their bigger advocates.

Oh well, I am in it for the long haul at this point.

I'm going to keep using it on occasion when I go out to bars or to the movies or dog park or whatever. Once it craps out again I'm just not going to bother getting it fixed. I'm not abandoning the product entirely, I'm just putting it into semi-retirement until it inevitably drops dead. Hopefully something better comes along soon.

I kinda wish they made another model called the dung beetle, which is larger with a bigger cooling unit and more space to adress other small problems.
Because this heater is something else most convection devices require stirring even the firefly 2, this one seems to even vape no matter how hard i pull with zero stiring needed and the efficiency is great as long as i pull 2 more times after i shut it off.

I have had my SS hopper for three days now and I'm blown away ! This thing kicks some serious ass. I currently own arizer air , Mflb, Elevape smart and a Pax 2. None come close to the ease and speed of this vape. If your on the fence about getting one you better jump on board before the prices go up again.
