if it's the same identical product with marginal differences..
Personally, I wouldn't shell out over 300$ for any vaporizer, it's just a specialized heater after all. But the new firefly provides more than marginal benefit over the firefly 1 since it has temperature control. It will probably completely change how you use the Firefly. Firefly 1 was more technique oriented like the MFLB.

How does one clean the oven? Does it come out or what? I never had a FF1

There is no oven. There's a glass bowl with a steel plate at the bottom. Beneath the plate is a heating coil. Nothing comes out, or needs to. You just brush out the bowl. There's no screen.

I mentioned this somewhere else, I just don't know about the vast majority of people who already own the FF would be willing enough to shell out another $330+ if it's the same identical product with marginal differences.

The 300 buck price barrier notwithstanding, the differences are more substantial than marginal, i.e. it works much much better, it's much lighter and smaller, it has more flexibility, eliminated the learning curve...it's a vastly improved product. What that's worth to consumers, new and existing...we'll find out.

When I think "Firefly" I'm thinking FLAVOR, or VAPOR. But, at the same time, I'm thinking "BATTERY SUCKS". Someone who's interested in the vaporizer world, this is great for me, for all of us. I just personally want vaporizers to be as reliable as the Arizer products. .

The battery life is roughly doubled. Seems more than adequate (rivals that Solo in my closet I haven't used in two and a half years). As for reliability, obviously time and units shifted will reveal all eventually. FWIW the thing that failed the most in FF1, the coil, is installed in a more automated and stable way, with tighter tolerances, in the FF2. I feel like maybe they've solved this problem...but again, time, volume...fingers crossed...

Battery life is comparable to the solo you say. I hope that's true because my solo battery lasts for give or take 6 sessions. More than enough for a day or 2 out. Put that together with instant on heat (not being on for 12 minuets at a time no doubt saves battery life) and replaceable battery my biggest fear about this unit is gone... That is so long as that statement is accurate.

This unit is looking more and more like my near perfect actually portable vaporizer. The Zion looks perfect for my home needs but I'm still searching for the perfect on the go device. It may not end up being the FF2 but 2016 looks to be a good year for the instant on convection portable I hope to find something that can fit my needs and wants.

Great Scott!
OK I can't use oil pens for a few months to get one of these. Might need more new ff batteries and car charger to hold me.

Something just occurred to me. Google has a Voice Interaction API for Android 6+. This is not just for voice to text, it can be used to perform actions within an app. If this were implemented in the FF2 app, you could just speak to your phone in your pocket and tell it to change temps. You could even ask it to tell you the battery status and it would read it out loud to you.... :D

FF crew said that the app will be updated to include more temps after the FF2 is released, so maybe they could implement voice commands too?

Well since the Solo is time based more than usage based it all depends on how you use your Solo time. But for me the amount of weed I vape on one Solo charge is roughly comparable to what I can get through on an FF2 charge...that is when I'm not experiencing that false battery light bug that plagues this prototype.

At this rate, we might as well have a built in screen, I'm sure these companies can afford it now lol

Or at minimum at LEAST a temperature dial, come on. An APP, really.

It looks like it's going for $270 preorder off the firefly site. Read a couple reviews off reddit that really makes me want one, but I'm still holding out on my pipe dream of a grasshopper coming the first half of this year (or at all).

I like the the glass mouthpiece and ease of cleaning for the ff2. I love the grasshopper's stealth and portability factor, but with the smaller size of the ff and the improved battery life it seems like the ff2 will be a great portable.

Where is it on the site? I can't find it and I gotta get in with the first batch, or find a new flower vape.

As far as I know the only OFFICIAL news are the one I posted from firefly's IG. No price yet. But one of the retailers in Europe told me that it was gonna be around 225£ and another one from US 330$

270$ is the price of the actual FF in their website, I think @VapeLife is confused.

Can you give a link for ff2 preorder? Thx!

There is none. As they said in their IG yesterday, pre-orders date will be announced in the next 2 weeks and start to ship in April/may. I posted it a few posts back...

Hm, sorry, my bad. The reason I thought they were doing preorders and not selling the regular ff was because the other day when I went to the official site it said $270, but cannot ship yet. So I sort of figured it was preorder and it also looked like the pics I've seen of the ff2 although there's not a huge deviation from the first gen.

Maybe they just ran out of stock of ff1. Sucks cuz if it was $270 I would prob preorder it.

...fit and finish for a $330 vape should be better IMO.

I agree, but I was under the impression that @BuzzDanklin has a beta unit and not the final production unit. Hopefully the final unit has better fit and finish. It could also be a weird angle making it look worse than it is.

As far as the app permissions, I hope it is true that they are not logging any data. I trust the company, but at least in America the government can easily subpoena that information. This could cause problems for a lot of people that live in the less progressive states. I have nothing to worry about personally, but that is no reason to allow unnecessary access to my location data.

That being said, the Firefly 2 is looking like it will be a great vape and I'm eagerly looking forward to reviews.

How come such little interest in this thread .. i would've thought people would be getting more excited for this vape...
Did people just have too many bad experiences with ff1

As i see it the 3 most exciting vapes coming out are this, GH and the small rbt milaana (terrible name )

GH im gonna wait until they are readily available and work properly lol! Then that leaves ff2 or milaana .. im in uk so the milaana will be harder to get and a pita if i need to warranty etc but it should be pretty reliable.. the ff2 on the other hand is an unknown quantity.

1st world problems!

Ye Haze has never really peaked my interest. . Ill check them both out though .. thanks.

Really feel like i could do with an on demand portable.. i think ff2 could be really good vape

How were the clouds on ff1? Is the new heater the same power or has it got more cloud potential?

I think you can still get the Milaana on pre-order to the UK?

Never even HEARD of the Zept0, off to investigate now, thanks!

Edit:
Well that's somewhat embarrassing, I have heard of the Zepto, but totally forgot about it!
I was excited there for a moment

The high price point coupled with the need for an app could be a reason.

You HAVE to read this whole ff2 thread! I wish I remembered what it said about heater power improvement for the ff2, but what we know so far is in this (short) thread.

I never found that I got huge clouds from the ff1. But I'm not a cloud chaser, so long as the material got vaped. And when everything lines up, the taste is the best!

From everything I've read, the ff2 improves over the 1 in every way.

Yes, the 2 improves on the 1 in virtually every important feature. FWIW I have no trouble getting large clouds with the 1.

Low interest? Likely the fact that it's not out yet, they won't be taking orders for at least a couple more weeks, and the first units won't ship for another couple of months. That sort of time frame can limit thread traffic. (We are in a data void right now....there's not much more to talk about, if you've read the whole thread up to now.)

Those surmising that their personal feelings about price and function can be extrapolated to the wider consumer base of FF will end up being quite surprised when FF sells a crapload of FF2s....given interest and voluminous inquiries in multiple venues, I have a feeling they won't be able to keep these things in stock. For every person complaining about features on a device they've never held or used there seem to be 100s dying to pre-order. I suspect that perceived ratio is highly favorable to FF. :2c:

I'm sure you're right, I think vaping flower is still so much of a niche that we can't expect it to behave like a big market. The path to vaping is still a weird one, and most of us have owned a few vapes on the way to knowing what we like. Big spread of opinions, knowledge, and use. I imagine the FF2 was developed w/ the Pax2 and Crafty as it's contemporaries - now there are emerging, kick-ass <$200 quick convection options like the Grasshopper and Firewood 3.0 and Zion single-battery which seems like a lot to enthusiasts, but they're mostly unavailable and far from the numbers, notoriety, or availability they'd need to really affect Firefly. Heck, Flowermate is doing good business, making good products that people like, w/ at least part of the attraction being the low entry cost - I liked my FM Mini and passed it on to a friend I like, too - when it's easy to argue that conduction vapes are slow & inefficient and in long-term costs the Flowermates give you less for more. Firefly is one of the top brands in vaping and it looks like they made their product legitimately better, they're gonna be fine.
