how about the e-nano glass stem does it also fit?

No. The glass stem is to thick. Ed's stem being svelte and sexy it is the same diameter as the standard stem.

I realize you are referring to v3, but quick question - I have no idea what I did with the piece of silicone that came with my v2 but is the silicone intended to go onto the bottom part of the mouthpiece?

Not sure i fully understand your question, but the standard fw3 stem has a glass stem, approx 1 inch length, a ss screen, then a short glass cannister with a basket type screen, which holds the herbs, all wrapped in the silicon sleeve. The basket cannister is easily removed to be filled. The mouthpiece glass not so much.

I have used Ed's stem to replace the 1 inch glass part of the stem, and thus extending the total length of the vapor path, so yes the silicon goes onto the bottom (steel part) of Ed's nano stem. Hope that helps

Must see pictures!

Might look into this for you. It looks too good not to show off.

You mentioned how nice it looked and now with its ability to do so much more guess its a real winner! Thanks for letting me know!

Absolutely a winner and a happy discovery which I am glad to be able to share, and give back a tip to a forum which has already given me so many that have majorly improved my vaping life.
Thanks Ed and thanks FC.

^^not sure. I got it in the massdrop earlier this year. I know that was around the time that there were issues with the glass and i think it was prior to the change, so probably the old version. Anyone?

OK. I just checked the glass nano stem. It fits into the fw3 but only just. I doubt it would fit with silicon around it, however if people had extra silicon they could fashion a longer piece so the nano stem could be added to the end of the current glass stem.

OTHERWISE, if people want to use the glass nano stem, you could probably fashion a second basket screen into a nano stem, slide the silicon on the nano stem further up (so the bottom end of the nano stem, filled with herb, is the same depth as the proper fw3 basket-and the nano silicon seals airflow) and use the nano stem in place of the entire usual fw3 stem/cartridge set up. Am i making sense?

May work. May not. I am just throwing ideas out there.

Edit-for clarity of explanation.

Still not clear what you did differently to yours. Could you post a picture?

My original post was regarding using an Ed's TNT Nano stem, not one of the original glass ones that come with the Nano. Is that the confusion?

My follow up posts were more musings on whether or not the glass stem could be used, and then only because people were asking if the glass Nano stem fits. It does not in the way i have set it up. Hope that helps.

I have never posted a picture but will look into it, however it could take a little while to shoot a pic and then post it, sorry.

Thanks- that clears things up. I'm planning on ordering one from Ed but am not sure if this new style will work. I have an e-nano but end up using solo stems and water with it. It can't hurt to have a second e-nano stem.

Aha, i see. Well the stem from @Ed's TnT was sent dec 1, 2015, so i assume that is the most recent style from him. I guess Ed or others could advise if there are different styles of Nano stems. Mine was a Cocobolo Nano stem ordered off the site, not a special order or anything.

I have just done a quick photo shoot. If i get time i will see if the Data gods will shine upon my efforts to post a picture. Technology often does not agree with me...

Would love to see some pics of the nano stem fitting the fw3! :)
@Ed's TnT Would you also be able of doing a walnut (enano) stem for the fw3? how much would that be? Love your work! :)

Ok. Let's see how this goes.

Thanks a lot. That looks great!! What a perfect match.. Seems to sit nice and snug.
How does it affect the vapor? Is it much less harsh? What are you're thoughts on benefits? Would it be possible to just the the stem in fill in the good stuff right there - and put a screen in it o "lock" the load? Guess that would make a huge bowl... In theory..
Thanks!! :)

Good morning @Vapenvy Wow that is that pretty piece I made for you, what a looker! Well done on the pics and modification, you are the man!

I want to address the stem itself, I want to say that Vapenvy mentioned its the new style design, this is correct. My new design for all my stems utilizing the SS bushing has a completely new connection configuration for attaching the wood to the bushing and holding it snug and in place. From here on out I have done away with the SS pin that was pressed into the side of the bushing and driven through one side of the wood shaft that presses into the bushing. I am now making these stems where the shaft is just a couple thousandths of an inch smaller than the ID of the bushing, the shaft itself is still at a 1/2"L, the bushing is 1"L so that gives you a 1/2" deep bowl capacity which is rather large for such a small stem. The neat thing about this design is instead of the pin I turn a groove into the shaft of the stem and place a high temp oring within this groove, the shaft is then pressed into the bushing and held in place nice and snug with a compression fit from the oring itself. This allows the user to easily remove the bushing whenever cleaning or maintenance is needed. Simply remove the stem from the bushing take something like a toothpick or other small poker or some sort and push the screen out, place another screen into the bushing under the clip and then push the stem back in and you are up and running! I add 3 extra orings, 3 extra screens, 1 clip comes with the stem. Clips can be purchased in 3 packs at my site for the stems as well. I hope this explains it and is helpful. If you have any other questions pls let me know!

@vapen00b I appreciate the kind words my man, sure I can do you a matching piece if you like, pls PM me and we can go over how that would work.

I wish you all a happy New Year and many blessings to come in the days ahead!

Having some problems with my firewood 3. After fully charging the batteries I go to turn it on, the unit repeats a series of 6 quick buzzes 3 times then turns itself off. I'm guessing maybe the batteries need to be replaced? I'm going to go try buying some new batteries today to see if that helps...

Has anyone else experienced this? My unit has been working fantastic since I got it about a month ago and am just now having this issue.

I'm considering buying a walnut one of these, but I have a couple questions I couldn't find directly addressed in the thread.

The capsule system is a major selling point of the vape to me. I'd love to be able to preload a couple of capsules and roll, that would greatly increase the stealth factor in my usage case. However, I have clumsy sausage fingers... Are these things tiny? Are they really difficult to load, or can you use a suction method as I might with a solo stem?

Also, I saw someone posted a picture of a little wooden caddy for addition capsules, but I can't see how to buy that on the website. Are these available for purchase in any capacity? I'm preparing to buy a few extra capsules with the unit so I'm hoping I can get one of them because they look awesome!

Thanks

@Thunderwhale that is the flat battery warning shutdown. Sounds like a problem with the batteries or charger as they should last way longer than a month before needing to replace them. Maybe one of the 4 cells has failed? If you have an external charger you could take them out and charge them individually. See if they all charge ok.

I think the fw uses eneloop batteries. I'd get at least 2100 mah. They also sell 2400 mah which would give more sessions. Eneloop are a quality battery. I personally also use Immedian which are also a quality brand, equal to eneloop according to many. Powerex 2700 are really high capacity but don't hold their charge as long as eneloop or immedian, so i'd avoid these if you intend to charge it and leave it a week or so before using, but would be great for heavy usage or a big day out.

@tblast , yes those capsules are tiny and the suction method does not work due to the bottom screen which stops the herbs from falling into the heater. If you look at the photos i posted above, the second photo shows the little capsule removed from the stem. You need to fill this and slide it back into the silicone sheath/stem. It's delicate but not too dificult if you have something to pour the herbs in. Having a couple pre loaded for out and about is a better option, though. Very fast to change capsules, like a few seconds.

With the wooden caddy, i bought 1 extra stem and did not receive a caddie/holder. Somebody else posted after the black friday sale that they bought 2 extra stems and received the caddy, so maybe buying two extra stems is the trick? I'd say email them first to ask, or order 2 extra stems and then add to order notes, or send an email asking how much extra for the caddie if you want to be sure. Good luck.

With a slight shape adjustment it looks like Ed could make a wong. As mild as the fw is I like water with everything.

About the caddy- I ordered 2 stems and they came in the caddy.

Yeah, a long stem with 14mm male end would be awesome. :)

I'll bet @Ratchett has a funnel that will work as a filling tool for you and the fw. I usually use a salt spoon to fill my various vapes (haven't tried it with the fw).

Suction method does work. Just remove the little capsule and turn it around and reinsert so the capsule screen is up against the mouthpiece screen. I always use this method and it works great!

Ran out of time to answer this yesterday, sorry.

It makes the vapor much much smoother. Even on level 4 the vapor is super smooth. In a way too smooth, as you lose alot of the hot vapor feedback which is important with these types of vapes. But that is only a problem if you have the heat too high and don't pay attention (you could char it without realising)

It's definately a much nicer experience with the stem.

It is also more robust. Less worry of dropping and breaking it.

It doesn't fit in a pocket with the stem in, though, so at this length more for home use (for me). No problem carrying the stem separately and inserting for use, however.

I do intend to try out using only the Ed's TnT stem for a larger load, but haven't had time. Will let ypu know the results when I do.

For the FW 2, what kind of screens are the stock ones, size and material (i.e. brass)? I can never find anything locally and need to order some. I think they are brass, but is there a thickness ? and what would be the width?
Thanks!

Thanks for adding that, man. Great to hear your opinion. Guess I gotta get back to Ed when the FW arrives..hopefully soon.

Yeah, I'm curious about the big load in the stem and how it would work!
All in the name of science, of course! :science::cool::brow:

@Thunderwhale

I'm having a similar problem, except it buzzes four times twice (I think) and shuts down. When I unplug it and let it sit for a few hours it functions as normal. I've been too busy to deal with it, but please let me know what happens.
