next generation e-nails?

Guys, don't wait for the sapphire halo. There's absolutely no ETA for these to be available to public. Manufacturing time and processes take a quarter of a year to produce a batch, with a number of units that will not pass QC as the sapphire grew unevenly in the mold and cracked. This is why theyve only really been sold at almost cost price to beta customers and friends of the dnail family so to speak.

I have had mine longer than bubbleman and can indeed vouch for it being the best though lol

BTW, to clean those sapphire inserts perfectly - use a magic erazer (gently and have your sapphire insert on a hard surface when cleaning, don't risk breaking it by not having it against a hard surface whilst cleaning!).

EDIT: @DrSteez yes, the latest round of sapphire halos was well over double that price!

I'd like to try a quartz halo but money is extremely tight right now. I'm going to just switch between sic with sapphire and sic conduction. Seems to be some good variety between the 2.

yeah hopefully not much more than that I think it would be a worthwhile investment
Unfortunately bro; without a revolution in manufacturing technology there is absolutely no chance that we will see Sapphire halos retailing to public for anywhere near that price. Triple that, maybe.

Still, don't completely lose hope on affordable sapphire halos, they just won't come for a while at least (more likely years than months). Sapphire of this kind - specially polished - is used by Nasa for ultra durable glass and lenses. Improving efficiency/quality/costs of manufacturing of sapphire would no doubt be a priority for much of the aerospace industry.

Sapphire is a bleeding edge material, which whilst making it the unequivocal best material for dabbing so far, also makes it prohibitively expensive. This is why it isn't retailed yet. It is just not yet practical from at least a cost point of view.

Please don't use mr. Clean Magic Erasers on the sapphire I've spoken with D-Nail twice about this, not trying to be rude, just keeping everyone informed....

Glad you said something. I've been feeling a bit trollish in this thread due to addressing all the poor/misinformation so I wasn't going to say anything but those magic erasers contain formaldehyde. :o I used to use them for all sorts of cleaning until I read an article about their toxicity.

I'm a fan of say something if you have safety concerns. People should be able to discuss it rationally. If not fuckem. I know @herbivore21 is always down for reasonable discussion.

Safety first! No matter who it may offend.

Actually, I'm not really up for any discussion right now, personal shit means I can't keep up with this place.

I soak whatever I clean with magic eraser in separate ethanol (not reclaim!!!!) and water after scrubbing. Formaldehyde is soluble in water and ethanol. Do not inhale vapors of said ethanol.

Sorry I should have definitely said this. If you are in doubt, don't use magic eraser!

I do apologise for not qualifying this, I have had some major issues come up this week. I have been very short of sleep and food as a result, shit is pretty trying. You'll all have noticed my relative absence recently.

Heat cleaning is the best way to clean sapphire (not torch, only electric heating 950f or so). I actually wonder if an oven could be a good way to clean sapphire inserts? Heat up should be slow enough to avoid much thermal shock. I will speak with the man that designed them about this when I get a chance.

The insert is a tricky one compared to the sapphire halo, which you just jack up to 950f, leave for 10, come back to a clean as new nail after you cool it down and swab it!

I really should go back to the vapman thread and warn them about this shit too. They love their magic erasers for cleaning their bowls there and those bowls have inlet pipes where bits of magic eraser do definitely get stuck, and then blowtorched and inhaled directly in the air inlet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fwiw my insert would not come clean with iso. I left it on 950 on my dnail 1.2 on the sic. Bam literally brand new looking. My policy is going to be to just do that more often. Just let it heat up good while I'm watching a movie in the same room etc.

Very pleased. Probably won't even iso next time.

Ah there you go, same as sapphire halo works. Good to know ;)

Do this people!

EDIT: Wow, whilst I had also heard of the formaldehyde allegation about magic eraser - it is actually grade a bullshit it would seem:

Definitely do not accept this kind of information out of hand!

Sorry to hear of your troubles Herbivore, hope they resolve soon!

It's good to know about the potential danger from the erasers.
lol bro the plot thickens I just edited my above post to indicate that there is in fact nothing to worry about with magic eraser re formaldehyde. That idea no doubt came from a misreading of ingredients by somebody who is a card carrying member of the tin foil hat brigade lol

Thankyou though man, I appreciate it. You guys are good people!

You are the homie herbivore.

Thanks bro, you're too kind :)

I've been inspired by all this sapphire insert talk to do a sapphire insert dab for the first time in a very long time! Gonna try some rosin on the sapphire insert with some full melt stuck to it in the sapphire halo soon :D

I can't believe I don't think I've ever used the sapphire insert with the sapphire halo! Can there be such a thing as too much sapphire? lol

I'm interested to play around with it on the quartz halo actually. Many of you will know cbd dabs seem to taste nicer at higher temps. For some reason, I find I get the best flavor from these extracts on the quartz halo at high temps - similarly high temps to what we would use for convection dabs on sapphire inserts! It would be interesting to experiment with a conventional dab on a high temp quartz halo, capped off with a sapphire insert with some wonderful THC containing material and then carb it and take flight!

I really would love to try using get some 2.5k 300x video of this dab taking place one of these days - you know it'll be here first if I do! ;)

I think I enjoy dabbing of the sic more than the convenction dabs off the sapphire insert, but I'm not sure why :/ hopefully I'm just doing something wrong and didn't just waste $50 on the insert lol.

I ended up ordering the quartz halo and an auber enail...ill wait for the sapphire insert to restock...not sure if i can wait on a carb cap though..just wish i could find one that will fit good enough to hold me over until they restock the dnail universal

I found 2 "good enough" while waiting. They were not good enough once I tried the universal. Its really such a nice combo. I would have refused to believe the "right" carb cap could have made that big of a difference until I tried it. I don't plan on changing nails for a VERY long time. Maybe a quartz halo some day if I can find a used one to try out. Other than that I can't afford it, and really there is nothing "missing" from the sic + universal combo.

You dont have to sell me on the universal...id order it right now if i could...my local shop had highly educated but no d-nail..i might email em..see what they recommend..

They will say the hive ceramic is good enough. I got a local one that was OK but no airflow. I had another which is a custom bobs burgers head. Lol.

I'm looking into enails atm and I'm wondering exactly what the state of the tech is? From what I understand, the choices are all pretty similar, hot runner coil, PID + SSR + K-type probe based control unit (in a fine array of colours and finishes), whether it's a $150 unit or a $600 unit, or am I missing something?

Ahh ok, I was curious because it said next generation like there was something fundamentally different in how they're constructed etc.

So I have been seeing how low I can go on the sic without the sapphire. 610 with some CO2 oil and it vaped cleanly. Jesus am I going to be able to vape in the 500's? LOVING the universal carb cap. Hating the fact that I waited months for it, but short of losing it it will last a life time. It is one of the biggest upgrades I've ever had to dabbing. Never had a cap with such good air flow etc.

I'd kill to try a quartz halo now if people say its better. For some reason I keep wanting to use the sapphire insert, but I never seem to be as happy as if I use the sic alone, but I can't figure out why. I'm a tech head/gadget man, so I basically want to force myself to use it. I've tried around 750-800 degrees when using the sapphire. I dab pretty small. I can't even taste an improvement in flavor with it, which makes no sense to me. HELP haha. Not that the sic is bad by any means, but I hate wasting the money and not using my neato gadget I paid for.
