Thanks for the reply, just ordered the E5. You guys are the best!
I've had several Anker brand battery backups and have been very pleased with them. Just check out Amazon and see which size has the best value at the moment. The Crafty battery is 2600 mAh I believe, so you can use that number to determine how many charges you can get out of the pack. Example, a 10,000 mAh battery pack could recharge the Crafty ~4 times (10,000/2,600).

I'd currently recommend the Anker E5. Great price, reliable, fast charging. Hard to beat. The E4 has 16,000 mAh battery, so you should get 5, maybe 6 charges from it.

I use these at festivals for power for my phone/vape all the time. Life savers.

I just got off the phone with Christine, a Storz & Bickel rep, they called me back after I had sent an email inquiry on my Crafty replacement and requested a call. I told her I had concerns that in about a years time, I've had to warranty my Crafty 5 times and this seemed excessive. :goon: She did advise that their engineers are actively seeking improvements and I should not worry because.....
The 2 year warranty is reset when they send a new replacement Crafty!

I think most here thought and possibly were told otherwise. I told her a different rep had advised me the warranty is only for the initial 2 years only. She repeated herself and assured me that was their policy regarding warranty. So now I am quite happy I did not upgrade to a Mighty.

I also mentioned to her about how @Vambo1980 (I didn't mention specific names) fixed his Crafty to be more reliable with his internal modifications. She did say she would pass the information along to the engineers.

Bah, the housing of my Crafty broke off, thanks to the Vapefiend waterpipe adapter and my own stupidity. I still can put the CU on top because only one side broke but the waterpipe adapter doesn't work, back to connecting it to my Orbiter.

Don't know if I'm gonna send it in, I have 70+ hours on the thing and it's still working perfect.

Have to retract my previous positive review of the vapefiend 18m glass adapter.

You are right, it does not fit 100% and it puts excess strain on the top of the unit if twisted onto the Crafty completely.

I literally just turn till it grips then stop. It still feels iffy and you can see it pushing the casing apart.

There needs to be a better fitting adapter because the Crafty is fucking awesome when paired with a nice sized bubbler.

Anyone with a 2.08 Crafty with the reinforced housing and a vapefiend adapter?

Try using the adapter from ratchett. It fits right on the original mouthpiece and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Whoa, that's pretty major if it actually does reset when a new Crafty is sent out. I wonder if that's actually true or if she was misinformed. Thanks for the info.

I've noticed my first crack on the top fin of the housing. Nothing major, and not the part that holds the CU in place so no functional difference yet. 69 hours on mine, purchased Oct '14.

Ratchett said they are cheap adapters from the big Chinese wholesalers that Vapefiend are selling. I have read lots of complaints about them online.

Looks like you are 2 hours before the new 80 hour cut off limit for battery replacement. Let us know the result of your warranty claim.

Got an email today, looks like I have a package due next week! Hopefully it's just a crafty, not a crafty + invoice. I had no idea about the 80hr cut-off, that seems kinda shady.

Why does the crafty have to be so great? And why isn't there a Crafty 2.0 with a replaceable battery yet?

Sounds like he knows his shit.

I have read various posts about a silicone adapter he was designing, that push fits over the top of the unit.

Is that available yet?

I have too, which is why i'd never buy one. Same with the namastevapes plastic 3d printed one. It's either @Ratchett's designs, and a muzzmod for me!

Have you asked S&B??

Do you not have his website?

My apologies, wrong thread..... the CU top silicone adapter has only been completed for the Mighty at this time. I am not sure is @Ratchett is testing or designing one for the Crafty too? There are 14mm and 18mm SonG adapter as well as the universal for the Crafty, but other than that - your best bet is a muzzmod IMO.

(MODs - I hope this doesn't violate any fc rules...)

Hey @Kaptan - Any chance you can get back in touch with Christine and get her to confirm that in an email? And then can you post it here for fc'ers to bookmark in case it's needed in the future?

The warranty reset policy DOES make sense. Without it and for example, what would happen if someone made a warranty claim on the last day of the warranty period and received a defective replacement unit? Without a reset, the owner would be sol.

Yes, unfortunately at this time I don't have a crafty vaporizer so I'm unable to trace the cooling unit and work on a new adapter for that vape.

However a Crafty CU-Mod is on my to-do list, and I'm hoping to get started on it when I get settled in my new studio down south!

For now, my original crafty mouthpiece adapter is still compatible with the Crafty - http://delta3dstudios.com/portable-vaporizer-accessories/crafty-vaporizer/

what is your current warm up time from room temp (20c) to 180c? If the vibration is intermittent and when it works it's weak, that could be the battery, but who knows... I had similar issues with both of my Mighty's.... intermittent and weak but also temps would sometimes not reach desired set temp, but mostly when the batteries were below half.

Sorry, just got around to checking this.

v2.08 currently at 59 hours.

Room temp 29c
Heat up time with full load & fully charged battery to 180c 2m 2sec
Heat up time with full load & fully charged battery to 209c (180c above ambient) 2m 42sec

I didn't test this one when new but looks like it's probably deteriorated

The vibration problem seems completely random. Sometimes it doesn't work at all, sometimes it's weak and sometimes it seems to work as normal. Doesn't seem to matter if the battery is fully charged or not but I'd say overall the problem is getting worse.

I emailed Bickel and Storz about the warranty question but haven't received a response.

Vapornation confirmed that their lifetime warranty does not cover the batteries.

@fumes, really appreciate your feedback on the battery and heat up times. It looks like you've managed well with 59 hours on the clock. I think at 35 hours, my battery was not performing as good as yours, but on the original firmware. You're getting close to the apparently 80 hour battery cutoff according to reports. Perhaps send in your crafty NOW with the vibration being your chief complaint, and see what they say? I know what you mean about the random vibration, and getting worse....eventually I think it will just stop. I still think it's the battery, but just my uneducated guess based on no experience. I look forward to getting my brand new Crafty and taking baseline measurements!

Vapornation confirmed that their lifetime warranty does not cover the batteries.

Not worth the extra $50 IMHO then. The S&B 2 year warranty has you covered, and if it does indeed reset when you get a replacement, i'm not sure if the extended warranty is even needed.

I'm just going to hang on to it and see if I can beat the 111 hours I got out of my v2.05 before it completely died and refused to charge.

I bought my Crafty from a local retailer here in Australia where our warranty is pretty good. With my last unit I posted it back to my retailer and they overnight shipped me a new v2.08 the same day they received the old one!

Worst case I'm pretty handy with electronics & the battery should be a quick job to change myself. Replacements are only around $10, cost me about the same in postage to return the Crafty than to do it myself.

But I still have over a year warranty left so I do still intend to return this one when it finally dies, can't really see it lasting more then a month or two but we'll see..

I so want to move to Australia! It's amazing how different some things can be in different countries.

There is a video that shows the dissection of a Crafty, but not the actual battery swap. That has not been done as of yet! If you are brave enough, you would be a PIONEER and we would all greatly appreciated it and send you money!

I know personally, if I see this done successfully i'd be more inclined to try it myself and beat up my battery if a new battery is only $10 away. Something tells me it won't be so easy though? The way the battery is connected to the vape maybe is an issue?

It's been a year..... this and the Mighty threads are quieter than I anticipated....again, probably due to price. It always seems like the busiest vape threads on FC are the ones that cost the least! (aka Solo!)

Damn, may just have scored my 2nd Crafty and I haven't even received my first one yet! I talked him down to $400cdn....pretty good deal!

There are actually a couple of people earlier in this thread who have changed their Crafty battery. Check out the posts by this guy: http://fuckcombustion.com/threads/the-crafty-by-storz-bickel.15984/page-211#post-812939

Not incredibly detailed instructions for someone with no electronic repair experience but overall it looks to be pretty straight forward, should be a breeze for me. I'll try to make a video if I ever do it.

Not bad, our major retailer here has them for AU$428 / $423CDN but I think I had a discount coupon and got mine a bit cheaper than that.
