Ahhh, if that was what he meant it went right over my head. Whoosh...

I think the Arizer uses a custom battery, but I have read they charge fine in a standard charger. I don't think you can use a standard battery in the Air, however.

An important and helpful decision RBT made in development is the use of standard batteries that are available everywhere...

The AA batteries may not deliver the amount of current the Zion needs. At least you could try them when it arrives and let everyone know if they are okay.

If you go to the link I edited in above, those worked for my air quite well and I'd get roughly 2-3 more sessions out of them. Who knows if I was hurting my air in the process. Dont care, sold it :D

... I just want this month to be over.

Yeah, there is a lot of discussion about batteries for the Air in their thread and elsewhere on the web and in these groups and I have no expertise in their products so I am not gonna make any recommendations other than to suggest that what the vendor says is authoritative. I would tend to follow their advice, but hey, what do I know.

Here, I do what RBT tells me to do... :) Be nice, RBT

I will add this for whatever it is worth...

Don't quote me on this. The Panasonics you mention are only rated a continuous discharge of 4.87 amp. The RBT ones are rated at 35 amp. If the AA are the same output as the Panasonics then your Zion will probably not work at its optimum. I am sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

The Air batteries would not be good @Bravesst bc they should be paired batteries for Zion. And again those are supposedly custom etc (you could tear em up in the single battery manual unit probably, less risk there)

Zion, stealing faces since 2015
AA and 18650 are completely different sizes. AA batteries will def. not work in the Zion.

Two stems, long and short, batteries and charger are separate. And probably, that charger seems like a nitecore itself

Ordered! Not sure if I should have put some FC reference in the notes or not... anyway, looking forward to it. Hoping the performance is at least 50% of what this thread promises, I feel a little burned by my last investment in a zippo-shaped thing, but that is another thread. Anyway, yay wood!

Many vapes & accessories. Always happy to help
Just been searching the thread on batteries, but really couldn't find a definitive answer. Hate to have to ask a question that's been answered, but...

I have a lot of AA batts, an AA charger, and a nitecore i2 charger. When making my purchase, i bought 4 OEM Zion batts, no charger.
Question 1. Is my current nitecore i2 and / or AA charger okay for Zion batts?
Question 2. Are my AA batteries okay for Zion?

and I'm really happy to be on this thread, I have feeling it will break records!

Hey bud, check this out, answered you on page 90:

Yep. It can hit as hard as a desktop one thanks to the amazing Zion heater technology.

No, the batts won't work as they're only 5A. You need at least 15A as far as I know. 20A are definitely recommended - as RBT sell them on their website.

You did good to someone and to your old vape by selling it. Maybe you can throw the contributions into the Zion piggy bank. Def. worth it. :)

No. You need 18650 batteries, not AA. But, your Nitecore i2 charger will charge both.
Sorry, clarification: Arizer Air (AA) 18650 rechargable batts, not AA disposables.

EDIT - Just read page 90. Thank you @vapen00b! These cells are way more powerful than the Air batts. Now I need to search thread to see if I need more batteries, depending on charging time and operating time.

http://www.planetvape.ca/ncr18650b-batteries.html - I also have 2 of these. I too, cannot tell shit about these batts by what's written on them. I was told DO NOT USE IN THE AA. I've been using them a bit in my oldest AA, and zero problems.

I'm kinda thinking, 2 chargers, 8 batteries. I think Nitecore does sell a 4 batt charger, any opinions on that?

Will the Arizer Air charger work on their batts?
Lastly, i2 or d2 nitecore? If I buy a second charger, is the D2 worth it?

@Bravesst the link is for Panasonic and they should work in your Air okay. No good for your Zion.
I've got a D2 and agree with @thekarmawhore it's great. As with everything to do with batteries there are copies of batteries and the chargers.
As you will be using two cells at a time in the Zion I would get the D4. If you are unsure about batteries and chargers I would stick with the stuff RBT sells then you can't go wrong.

@phattpiggie

I already ordered a D2 from RBT. I didn't see a D4 option or I woulda went with it. I'll get in on amazon if I decide to go for it. I definitely need more batts though (got like 12 for my Airs and they only use one), and those I need to get from RBT. I hope I can just add to my order and save on xtra shipping. The more I think about it, I may just go with a second D2, as I already have one D2 coming (D2 + D2 = D4). Unless @RastaBuddhaTao would be willing to adjust my order. I'd honestly rather just deal with RBT 100%, and not even order from amazon, but don't expect them to spend the time to make this adjustment. But, in a perfect world, this is what I shoulda ordered.

Zion
Long Stem
d4 (or second d2)
8 batts (instead of 4)

I'm sure you'll get confirmation before shipment, but you can always try messaging too, but yeah ofcourse he's very busy now, but there's no rush on adjusting the order until the production units are ready to ship.

There were instructions to add to your cart without paying shipping twice, but if you wanna swap things best to wait/ask. I don't see it being an issue at all either way.

So remember the battery life here is great, with 8 batteries you could go a really long while, I only have 4 and am never really stuck. Also another FYI is that both a long stem and regular short stem will be included with production Zions already (so ordering a spare brings you to 3), extra short stems will also be available for sale at some point

Shit Snacks, okay, I'll take your word for it and go with 4 batts to start out. most likely if you never run out, I probably won't either. Right now, using an AA, you get about 3, 10 minute (there time out) sessions without draining batt dry. 4 batts (which would be 8 now), would not cut it, especially how long nitecore takes to charge (I know that's a good thing). Maybe 6 for a real heavy use who works from home?

I have a few questions.

For the beta testers who use the Zion with concentrates, is there a commonly preferred method? I am interested in using it for concentrates, but using cotton doesn't appeal to me.

For @thekarmawhore, is there a chance you guys will add the D4 charger to your site? With all this talk of batteries and chargers, I am not certain the four batteries and the D2 that I ordered with my Zion will be enough, especially when the other two RBT vapes come out.

Also, why isn't it October yet? :D

My method for concentrates on the Zion involves using a SS coil from the UpTech Hercules. I have to distort the coil to block the center hole so the coil fills the stem. Then...

Yeah I mean I have gone a day using it pretty much day, and easily had battey left over. Even having now built up a tolerance, it still leaves me needing less hits/bowls to be enough, even with two people together.

Battery life is really incomparable to the Air, its extremely impressive given the power, but it is two 2900mah 18650 LGs... Of course its conceivably still possible to be down with 4 and the great battery life, given long charge times and/or pacing etc (often I recharge early, I only have an i2 so no voltage measurement... With d2 you dont need to fully charge them every time if you can just match their voltage), but not necessary in my experience.

It is always nice to have a back up just in case in general though, however Zion may make many back ups seem worse by comparison... Lily has kept me with its uniqueness though, and trying out my Elevape for the first time in a while was nice, but Zion is really in its own class, more true desktop caliber in a portable than anything else I've used.

@Shit Snacks Stop!!! You're killing me. 21 days to October!!!
VAS on steroids now.

What kind of technology allows it to be so powerful, and go so long on just a 2 batts?

In my limited experience, Arizer didn't do it with the Solo, S&B didn't do it with the Mighty. Both great vapes, but they get me through about a 1/4 of the day, if that with Solo and trying to do the right thing by batts (not drain).
