Discontinued Zion vaporizer

Well I've got to say this thing is a power house. Oh wait it's a great sipper. Great flavor. Great. Great first few goes. This is what every one said:versatile. And the load looks evenly vaped. No brown spots as I stepped up the heat. Nice start.

I have a firefly that seemed they spent more on the body/outer shell and less on heater, battery. Exact opposite with this Zion. It took a lot of sessions to get steady good results from my ff. Not every one can grab a ff and get good results. The Zion is a true convection vaporizer that has enough heat and control of the heat to be a easy hitting vape.

I feel battery's are such an issue with almost all portables. Very smart not having to spend waisted time trying to develop a subpar expensive battery.

Alright you guys :D

I quite enjoy taking the odd photo here & there and as such, I now have a small album of pix totally dedicated to the good Johnny-Z.

Many of the pictures are not for public show due to Johnny's all seeing beady little eye ;) and others were for posts which I just never got around to making or I just did not consider good enough in the first place . . . anyway, nothing special, just a few random Johnny pix for anyone in need of a little Zion fix :)

Awesome test, lots of precious infos! thanks man!

What batts are you using?
Cheers dude, pleased you found it usefull :) For that test I was using the standard yellow Samsung's or LG's from RBT - I forget which they are now . . .

Oh btw, Congratz on the new arrival @HD Springer - I'm sure you guys will be very happy together :D

Keep it Zion y'all!

Yeh best to leave the battery design to the battery experts. With such a reliable power house of a battery like the 18650 so readily available why would you pick anything else? It may make the Zion a little on the chunky side but having 5000 mah of capacity is really nice as folks are staring to notice (thanks for the battery study and great pics VnV!)

Does your Zion have the recessed heater so the joint is flush with the "shelf"? I'm wondering how close this unit is to how the production units will be.

Any other new stuff in there RBT?

I love the Zion for so many reasons, and this is one of the big ones, especially since I vape eliquid as well and have several mods and a stockpile of 18650s already. And I know I cannot be alone in that, especially as you move forward into full production. So many reasons to applaud your choice of Zion power, and I am convinced it will pay off in spades as more people become aware of what you have here and what is to come.

From the FC 10 chat:
I was asked by @ragnorokk to compare the Zion to the Bender. Both are manual with the potential for combustion if you are not careful.(Loki is a hot ZION) The Bender in stock form is a herb hog. Plan to pack at least .3 to .5g. When Bending correctly, the flavor is hard to beat. Lean on the button for a split second too long and there's a cherry in there. The Bender is a true All Glass Airpath. The heater is outside the Airpath and outside air comes through holes in the glass. My first 8-10 attempts with The Bender ended in hacking combustion coughing fit. The Zion just worked the first time I used it. Very user friendly. Much more versatile. Much more portable. The flavor from the Zion is really good. And another plus is, that you can set the knob and repeat your results easily. All of that said, comparing these is like comparing apples and pears. Kinda close, but not really.

This is from last night. I never hit the post button!
killed the batteries. I achieved 10 loads in all. A load for me is between .1-.2 depending on level of meds needed. I have my screen set low in the gong to make that happen.. Ending voltage for the first charge was 3.23 & 3.31v. There in the charger now. Pretty impressive @RastaBuddhaTao . The days of three to four loads a charge are over!
I am getting very consistant abv now. I have the dial down.
I Start at 50% take 2~3 flavor pulls with light vapor. Stir.
Set to 60~65% take 3~4 pulls with dense vapor. Stiring after a couple of draws. When the batteries are charged I'm throwing it on the wp. Finally found my 18/18 male. Yay!

Today was another good day with Zoey. I find myself grabbing for my vape less often. That tells me it is efficient. Ranking above all my other battery portables. I like the way this performs, tastes and the amount of use between charges.

Haha sounds like Zion claimed another beta tester's clear head. 10 sessions! That'd do it

@cybrguy ya the bowl Is pretty much flush with the shelf.
The stash in the cap too? And if so, how much does it hold? ;)

I'm kinda lookin forward to that as it really self contains the vape with the new stir stick and the integrated stash. .2 or .3 g of ground would be enough to make it worthwhile, tho the more the better.

@cybrguy I was able to put 1.g in with out packing it at all. It's really a nice use of space. My Zion is running real well. It's got great temp stepping ability. The amount of flavor is what's impressed me. Yet it has big power with out any hint of combustion. I laid heavy on the button on a warm unit. Didn't charr the load. Had a darker spot but not any charr.

And your unit is even running hotter yes? Impressive! What % are you typically starting at HD? Definitely looking forward to the integrated stash spot and stir multi tool for production

I got on board with this a few weeks ago... just too impressive too pass on. I've been lurking in shadows wafering back and forth on this one. My main hold up was size/form, but it's obvious that the desktop performance outweighs those desires. Honestly, this vape seems to have everything anyone would want. I will say that the only thing it doesn't offer that I would really love would be some sort of battery level indicator. Since the unit is capable of doing so many bowls before a charge is necessary, remembering bowl count to determine when to charge can be challenging. And I don't like running my batteries to empty to figure out I need to put in a few fresh ones - especially when I'm grabbing it on the go. Maybe V2?

Super excited to get on board with RBT - such an amazing atmosphere here compared to other places! Infectious actually.

Why yes, yes you do.

In fact, more than you could possibly know!

It's become my vape essential.

For real Veg, I honestly feel like I could sell every other vape I own, I've been using nothing but Zion pretty much and don't feel like I'm missing out on a single thing, all gain. It's covers every situation and then some...

Pass thru would be nice.
Maybe it could be something to look into?
DC variable voltage like a core or a vvps?
Remove batts plug in for home use.

Yeah with a spare pair of batts to charge while using the other I haven't been let down with the monster battery life yet, but plan is for a drop in DC connection so you can run off wall power at home, turning Zion into a plugin unit when called for. Going to be a perfect accesory once things get going

@Bongologist I think the dimensions are pretty unchanged from our units, overall profile should be the same. No measurements on the site? I'm not at home so can't measure myself

I don't see anything on the website and thought maybe there wasn't "final" dimensions quite yet. What I've found on this thread is 2.247 x 2.425 x 4.807" and was wondering if that is the production dimensions. (Thinking about a stand for Zion and accessories)

Have also been thinking about a custom stand for Zion and accesories - whether I pull something together myself or have @Ratchett do something up for me. But IME, usually better to have it all in front of you and at least a couple days of use in to come up with the best and most functional ideas. My mind often heads that way after a couple good hits, anyway! ;)

Please post about what ideas you come up with. I'll surely do the same.

Well I pulled a dumb ass move. I left my stem in the bowl and my Zion took a tumble off the night stand. Naturally it landed on the stem shoving it into the bowl. Breaking the bowl. What a dumb ass move. Everything still works just cracked the glass. I've handled the drop test phase of the beta team so no one else needs to sign up for this. And to think we were worried about my drunk friends dropping my shit. Nope just my lack of sleep.

No worries. It's a quick repair... Ship her back and we will make her good as new :)

Just need to put the "don't store with stem inserted warning" in the manual.
