Discontinued The Grasshopper

And @Jared... I meant other than the words Lifetime Warranty in one thumbnail on one page... that tells me nothing about the warranty itself, and does not actually state that their product comes WITH one. Sorry I wasn't more specific.
Well you originally said there was "zero mention" on the website and that simply isn't true. It's under the main "information" section.

It kind of makes me uncomfortable that the only warranty that we actually have from them is a "non-legally binding" one. Which basically means that we have a warranty for as long as they wish to provide one to us... and not a second longer. Has anyone that has actually received a Grasshopper gotten any sort of documentation with their product about a warranty at all? If so, could you please let us know if it is in fact a "full", or a "limited" warranty; and whether or not it is in fact referred to as a "lifetime warranty". Thanks!
Couldn't find the picture right off, but I believe the manuals that come with the vape has a section on the warranty. I might have dreamed it but I think I took the time to squint and read the tiny text of it with it saying basically that it would cover basic wear and tear and factory defects for the lifetime of the buyer

You're right, I'm a retard for missing one thumbnail, on one page of their website.

Which would be exactly what I am looking for, and would make me more comfortable about this purchase. I will try to find the image... thanks!

Mod note: Use of the word 'retard' is offensive and breaks the 'Be Nice' rule.

Looks like it's limited.

"This warranty covers only the original purchaser of the device."

That, I think, ends the discussion?

And even without that restraint, a second hand buyer still can't demand service. Under law he 'has no skin in the game'.

Thanks.

...and as was reported here in a recent previous post: Trevor indicated in a reply that a secondary owner can make arrangements with an original owner to help facilitate a warranty issue. Sounds to me like Trevor is gracious and flexible as far as warranty support goes.

A mod needs to get in this thread ASAP. Two pages ago this was solved by Trevor in an email. Why is there a need for all the arguments?

If you want the lifetime warranty buy it straight up. If you buy it used make sure you stay in contact with that person so they can help you if you ever need warranty. I come here for info on the GH guys as do most of us lets not fill this thread up with BS.

Not to change the subject (okay, I really want to change the subject) this is the first time I noticed the part in the manual about only using the GH between 32 and 90 degrees (F). Really? Seems like a lot of folks are looking forward to some ski/beach time with their hoppers and these temps seem limiting. (I'm hoping my iPhone says the same thing because I ignore that just fine.)

Any actual GH owners able to comment on their experience outside of those temps? Could that have led to some of the temp issues on early units?

Personally I don't think this is a big deal, I really just want folks to stop talking about the warranty. Not that it was not a valid topic of discussion, I just think it has all been said more than once already.

Discuss…

I was thinking about the temp thing earlier when I saw it, and I think I have seen other vape info saying similar things, though I have no idea where atm. I think it's probably just a covering all their bases kind of warning.

Most electronic devices, batteries, and performance characteristics are temperature range sensitive - typical.

Could you guys stop talking about actually using the grasshopper? It really distracts from the much more important conversation concerning the non-transferability of the warranty, which could be said about just about any other vaporizer! Seriously who wants to discuss actually using the thing? Priorities please!

Im sure it would work in temps outside of that range but isn't designed to STAY in temps outside that range. Take an iPhone for example if it gets too hot, it won't work. I think you'd be fine if you bring it to a beach hit it and keep it out of the direct sun. Hopefully.

Seriously, let's cut the warranty talk, or take it to PM. Any further posts about the topic will be 86'd and some that I just read will probably be as well.

I can't speak for cold weather apart from @BuzzDanklin reported that it worked great skiing.

I can report from high heat summer situations like at the pool in 90+ degree heat and it worked just fine, it get hot faster because it's metal under the hot Colorado sun but put it away between hits and it's fine. There was some post that referenced something about iPhones overheating and I can say I was out on my west facing balcony (read hot as fuck) and my iPhone went into overheat safe mode well before I my GH got to hot to use.

FWIW tho, everyone who has reviewed the GH has stated its the best portable they have used. But yea lets be honest about the kinks so they can be properly worked out.

Correct. This is the BEST portable vape I've ever used AND as I've said the kinks have been mostly worked out and the failure rate in my experience is still less than much more expensive vapes and eqaul to a billion dollar backed apple product.

I actually enjoy the GH Tea Partiers. All they are doing is increasing the interest in what is the MOST innovative product on the cannabis market. If the buzz they create results in more sales so be it :-) If anyone thinks that my opinions are based on that I somehow represent GH well then you're simply wrong.

Do I appreciate the economic model of crowd sourcing? Yes!

Do I think Matt and Trevor are cool? YES!

Am I glad that this amazing device calls my neighborhood home? YES

But most importantly, from my own experience over 3 weeks this vape is amazing.

If you want to hate on it, that's great, please start a new thread I promise i will read and occasionally post because I'm sure that nonsense will be hilarious.

In the real world if you are interested in the GH you should understand that it's alchemy doesn't work under bridges so pay no mind to trolls and only follow the post of people who ACTUALLY HAVE GRASSHOPPERS.

Then you might get some useful user feedback.

Alternatively, just buy one, it's damn near the cheapest vape for flower on the market and way better than ones that
cost double the price.

I took my GH to the Rockies game Saturday night, so here is some real world user experience. Although I live in Colorado, we were going to the game with a friend of mine's dad so I had to be discrete. I first packed a full bowl figuring I would prefer convenience over flavor in this situation. I gotta say, you get a LOT of hits from a full pack, like well over 20 and if you really start at temp 2 and really are diligent about temp stepping you can get to hits 15-16/temp 4 before its really "begone dull care" taste. Also at the lower temps bathrooms stalls and bar patios you can take hits just fine. Its super stealth and trust me you're getting plenty of effect at those low temp settings.

Coors field has metal detectors so I took the GH out of my pocket it and put it in the bin with my keys and wallet so it was right in the open and nobody said anything about it all.

During the game, I would just go with my buddy that smokes cigarettes and rip the GH there and again it was no problem. Also after the first bowl was done I changed my mind and went back to just crushing smaller loads till they're done in 5-6 hits because after 3 weeks I can walk and load the GH now so for me at least the "convenience" of a full bowl wasn't worth it when the benefit of fresh hits and a clean bowl after every "session" is so big. Plus after 6 hits I'm alway plenty high, no reason to have herb in the chamber even though its not like its cooking, but I do think having oils heat and re-cool in the chamber over time will increase the need to clean. I mean I just cleaned it today after two weeks of heavy use so maybe we're talking you would increase the frequency of cleaning by maybe a day or two, certainly not a week and everyone who has a GH will find their preferred usage method since its designed to be optimal as a PERSONAL device. (If you want an optimal GROUP vape, there are many on the market today so please don't try to twist what I am saying as a negative about the GH because it is the BEST PERSONAL PORTABLE vape that I've ever used and it seems most who have ACTUALLY USED ONE agree, regardless the other vapes they experience. I remember @BuzzDanklin rated the Firefly higher for flavor, I suspect he has his Firefly technique down better than I do because I disagree, and on reddit, someoone posted how they prefer their GH to the Crafty so again, I have yet to hear the actual use review where someone said this product sucks).

Uggh sorry, I was taking GH rips before I started this post so I'm rambling, back on track, the last thing I was surprised about was the battery life. That has been the weakest point of the vape so far but I've been using it pretty hard. In a "real world" (READ: You actually can't just be smoking dope flagrantly all day, you have to actually be discrete, plan your trip, take your rips and be satisfied for awhile) situation, I was actually impressed by the battery life. I brought an extra battery with me but I never needed it. I was plenty high the whole game, it was just that instead of taking way more hits per hour than I actually "need" because hitting this thing is fun in its own right and the flavor is so good but I'm usually way past "medicated" I was just taking targeted, strategic opportunities. It was good to do that because it shows the effect you get per hit better. The cannabis I was using wasn't particularly strong, 11% thc sativa and it wasn't like I was BLAZED OUT OF MY MIND, I wouldn't want to be at the ballpark anyway, but I was plenty high for a recreational user and if I were a medical patient I think the GH could keep me medicated all day but that kind of user might actually go through the second battery. I definitely recommend getting a second battery and I definitely recommend bringing it because it would be a bummer to be without but I would say that for all but the heaviest users, the battery life might not be as bad as I originally thought.

Almost a month with the GH and I gotta say I'm MORE impressed with it than I originally was and its been interesting to see how my own use patterns have changed. Like for example I was hanging with some friends that just love bong rips. Its their favorite way to consume. Its not that they don't like vapor, its that for them, its like why would I vape/eat/roll a joint/ smoke a bowl/do a dab etc. when there is a perfectly good bong right there? I also love bong rips don't get me wrong. It was interesting is because their method for bong rips is you pack the bong, pass it to someone and that person finishes the entire thing and then its the next persons turn. I figured OH THESE PEOPLE GET IT! So I showed them the Grasshopper. They were pretty impressed with it, particularly commented on the flavor of the vapor and the build quality.

Then they grabbed the bong and went right back to bong rips. Because as I've been saying, every method is its own experience and everyone will have their own preference. IF you prefer bong rips to vaping and you have $150 I would say get a bong instead of a GH. IF you prefer vaping to bong rips then I would say get a GH. I would never say if you prefer vaping to a bowl get a pax2/Firefly etc I would say get a GH. Of course is someone said they love spliffs but want to give up combustion (in other words keep the tobacco loose the fire) in that instance I would recommend the pax2 HANDS DOWN!

I on the other hand found I really do now just prefer the GH. Don't get me wrong I took plenty of bong rips but since my preference now is vaping generally and the GH specifically I gravitated towards it. This is precise the type of scenario the GH is intended for because it is a PERSONAL vaporizer! :science:

I see no mention in the manual of being able to use the GH to give yourself a cannabis vapor enema. Is it because the mouth piece gets too hot too quickly?
Perhaps you could shotgun that special friend?
I was already pretty against buying one used; Now that I know what everyone here will be using theirs for, I'll be sure to get mine new.
I agree. I don't know if I'll ever view/interact with the FC community the same....

Ahem....

I am NOT saying the sky is falling, BUT, there's been another grasshopper death. I'll admit I am a little worried now. https://www.reddit.com/r/GrassHopperVape/comments/3esvdx/red_and_blue_lights_of_death/

EDIT: the point of this post is to express my general sense of worry, not to incite panic. I REALLY hope Hopper Labs addresses the failures in their next update. They have to know that we know, right? I don't like being led along with sly verbiage and being fed partial truths. It's time to be open and honest. I realize they don't HAVE to, but I'm not a fan of their political approach thus far. December 11, 2013 backer.
I LITERALLY got engaged and then got married since backing the IG campaign.
Is it wrong to just want the truth from the manufacturers?
