Batteriser is a $2.50 gadget that extends disposable battery life by 800 percent

"Eventually the battery’s natural, unboosted output drops to 1.3 volts—but Batteriser keeps it at 1.5 volts for another month. Now you’ve realized a 3x increase in battery life. And so on, and so on. Roohparvar says Batteriser can continue to deliver a 1.5 volt charge in batteries that have discharged down to 0.6 volts. There are more than eight 0.1 volt steps between 0.6 and 1.5 volts, so, in grossly simplified terms, the Batteriser can extend operational battery life somewhere around a factor of eight."

I'm excited to read reviews about this when it's released in September 2015. It was a Kickstarter upstart like Grasshopper. You can scan things (plants, medicines, foods - probably animals and things as well later) with it and it will tell you what it is as it also uses that information to build up a database (an internet of things). This will be good to make sure the herbal supplements you bought at the store are what they say they are. I read there is a lot of scamming going on in the world of supplements. I do wonder about privacy issues though, when people start scanning illegal substances and that information gets sent to the database/internet.

I didn't know where else to put this, so I guess here is best. I did this with my Surface Pro 3! And, I really DO love this website.

I'm having trouble getting into this post. I'll keep working on it. :)

I have been having a crazy amount of fun with some cheap toy quadcopter/drones.

This little $18 one works both inside and outside, but the battery is quite short and not replaceable.
This medium $39 one also works both inside and outside, but it has longer battery life, and you can buy extras so you can charge a few up and fly it for a much longer duration.

They fly easier than you expect, and both of mine have survived dozens and dozens of crashes, with only a few broken propellers (they came with spares) Both of these are so small too you can have them at full throttle and stop the blades with bare skin and it won't cut/hurt you.

I've got the same one - fucking love that little quad. Soooo much fun to fly indoors and out (especially in pro-mode when you have more control over the flight).

The Husban X4 (the one linked) is also resold under MANY name brands. There are a ton of replacement parts you can purchase for that vape (even probably about 20 different exterior 'shells'). Heck, there are even hundreds of 3D printable mods for it, from prop guards to complete replacement frames - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:229994

Ok Microsoft. Not a good start. I know Windows 10 is still in beta, but it's mostly done! I can't copy and paste a simple picture into ANYTHING. What good is inking on this webpage if I can't show everyone that neat trick. :disgust:

Try saving the image as a file and then uploading to imgur? I use a program called ShareX to simplify the screenshot -> uploading process.

I did that, no go. I tried everything, and it works just fine with IE (copying/pasting/posting, etc, but NOT inking)

If y'all are into quads, I highly recommend getting into a 250 size FPV racer.

We have set up a course with air gates and timer systems, here was the fastest lap times from this past weekend. Mr. Steele[ballz] is a bit showboaty there at the end;) This was his first time on the course and all footage is in real time.

Man I want the lily SO BAD. I wish I had the funds...
Don't think I'll be able to afford it when it retails. Looks so badass. Blows the go pro out of the water IMO.
Anyone want to go halfsies lol

I have to ask @FlyingLow, is he controlling it by site (third person) or in the first person (by camera)? That was awesome and looks like a fun hobby.

@nihil ~ The operator is not really controlling Lilly but just giving it simple commands (follow, lead, circle, stay put, return home), the Lilly is autonomous with regards to actual flying and just follows the user's bracelet. It is important to note, there is no obstacle detection with this so it can run into things (unlike the new DJI Phantom3 series).

Lilly is really just a great flying family/vacation action cam. IMO FPV stuff is a ton of fun but quite a bit more challenging if you want to fly fully manual without the aid of gyro stabilization.

I still fly a ton of acrobatics, giant scale and night flyers by site, commonly called LOS (line of sight), but we all get the FPV bug.

Here is a trailer from one of our past events; gadgets don't get much cooler than drones:
