Pizza not Grasshoppers

I can't believe how off-topic your post is. This is the Grasshopper thread, not a thread on horology (or is that chronology? :hmm:).

People who get so goddamn random and constantly take threads off topic just boggles my mind.

We need order here I tell ya..........................ORDER !!!!

Order as in pizza ordering, I'm in...

I don't mean to sound discouraging, but IMO no pizza joint in Colorado is going to deliver you a pie in NYC unless you tip really, really, really well......

I am a New Yorker , i have had pizza in many other states and places around the world. In all honesty nothing really can compare. It's all about the NY water. There are places that make it well so im not knocking your pizza. I actually had some amazing pizza in different countries but it was just different. Same goes for Bagels lol. I actually recently took a trip to florida , some of the worst pizza and bagels i have ever had imo. Found a spot that claims to use Ny water and gets it shipped there to make there pizza and bagels . It wasn't bad but compared to some other spots but def was not as good as i have had here. Now Philly does make the best cheese steaks .

It's the water and the bricks...many of the pizza ovens in NY are many, many decades old. And from all those years of making pizza's, the brick ovens infuse the pizza's with a taste you can't duplicate.

I remember reading a number of years ago how some business owner took apart one of the old brick ovens in NY and moved it out to San Francisco, so that he could offer pizza's out west with that authentic NY taste.

I grew up in 'Jersey...I remember what great pizza used to taste like. Been out West since '81, and have never found anything to compare anywhere out here...

I sorta have to disagree, all I was told in South Carolina was "we cant make pizza like nyc pizza cause the water", yet me and my friend decided to make our own dough for the first time EVER and it came out like NYC dough and not like glorified bread...

Edit: is this like my 3rd or 4th time making a thread spiral into odd conversation lmao...so sorry admins.

I brought up the water only because NYC really does have pretty good water. If you live in any area like Los Angeles, you know how lousy the water is and it won't make good bread or anything else unless treated first.

So, anywhere with great water will make decent bread...or dough. The extremely seasoned bricks complete the magic that is a good NY pizza. If Gotham had crappy water, I doubt the pizza would be quite as good...

Yeah I just found it odd, we were both like "Sure its the water" while me and my friend were in South Carolina, sad part is the town I was in was home to two places that apparently had pizza guys from nyc, both pies were gross, tasted like Papa Johns if any of you ever had the disappointment of eating that Frankenstein food.

All the places I went to had dough that was like wonder bread...I just dont get it, I mean it was my first time making dough and it came out with the same taste and texture as soom local places here....I just cant grasp the bad pizza out of NYC...I am moving to Colorado soon, hopefully its not as bad as the south in that and many other respects.
