Hi all,
Received my Nano on Thursday (thank you Andy) right before I leave for business travel. I have been reading that people have had technical problems where they had to send their units in. How likely am I to encounter a malfunction within the first year of use.

Based on this thread I would say very unlikely to get a defective nano or it go bad within a year. Its a simple, durable design, there is not a whole lot to go bad.

Say it happens. From what I've heard Andy gives excellent customer service, so I wouldn't be too concerned.

Its definitely the best weed related investment I ever made and the reason I say that is because in my college days I was smoking an 8th to a 1/4 per week, but with the e-nano i feel like I get just as high with the same frequency and only vape 1 gram per week.

FYI I bought my nano used (the seller straight up admitted that hes probably gonna regret the decision, so he didnt sell it because he didnt like it or something). Its around 2 years old, never sent in for repair, and still straight truckin'.

Hope my response is insightful for you.

The NANO is the best tasting vaporizer in life!
Purple GSC in a NANO is crazy wonderful!

I also just received my new E-nano - thanks to the FC community for helping with the purchase!

I have a couple questions - the stem came with a small piece of silicon tubing around it. I did a search and it seems like people use these for Gong's (which I won't use) - do I need to keep it on the stem?

Also, I pushed back the basket screen since it seemed like it was too close. If I understand correctly, it should be pretty much as close as possible when packed and inserted into the heating element?

well, i usually hit mine upright, and the screen is about 3/4 of an inch in. however im currently vaping strictly kief and the suggestion was to hold the nano in a slightly elevated position as to prevent the kief from melting and dropping into the element. I'm gonna push the screen a bit closer and see if theres any difference, but it already works pretty well.

Anyone else hit the nano dry upright or is the norm to hit it elevated?

@ACE OF VAPE you have a new customer, my friend has been thinking about getting a vap and after using my arizer solo, cloud, SSV, volcano; enano is the one that made him switch. Impressive efficiency and effects.

I bought my nano 2nd hand and it came with both types of stems and one adjust 14mm gong.

all three of these pieces dont have silicone tubing on.

can I ask if this is a new addition if you buy direct from epic vape or is this an after market addition by the user?

also what is the silicone for? is it to keep the glass cooler to touch, because ive noticed the gong gets v warm during use.

and/or is this to improve proformance, with a better connection?

The silicone sleeve is on the gong to keep the glass cool to the touch. This is how it comes now from epic vape and yes, you can buy them separately. If you decide to buy another gong, I would also take a look at Joda Glassworks in the glass forum. Lots of happy customers.... Me included.

Hey my koa unit doesn't seem to get as hot as others or maybe I do something wrong?
I can't reach combustion temperatures even on 10 with the screen close (it's noticeable more hot but I won't get another cloud coming from 8 to 10 for example). I did test it with different screen distances, outlets and stepdown converter. Also tried a finer grind-level. I don't pack it tight in my stem.

I did give it a long heat up time on 10 and it still didn't combust. I'm a little bit worried whether I can do concentrates but I can't get some until next month. It's probably also not the dimmer, it goes from 1.5-10 and rest on 0. Maybe it's because koa is rather dense I've read in this thread that dense wood units may run a little bit cooler.

Like I stated before dry herb extraction seems to be very good and I get as many hits as members reported here.

It's my first pure convection vape maybe ignition needs higher temps than 230° without conduction?

Ideas how to get it run more hot? I'm about to order another dimmer but how likely is it that it will help?

I don't think you have a problem imo. I thought the same with mine and have never combusted, even when I tried to just to see if it would. My nano works flawlessly with concentrates I wouldn't be worried. Hold off on spending more money till your nano is a bit broken-in and you try ur concentrates. If it doesn't work with ur concentrates, which I doubt then try to fix it. But I don't think anything is wrong

I keep the tubing on the stem. It keeps you from burning yourself and also helps from banging the glass directly on a surface if you set it down.

I thought the basket was too close at first, too, because I was used to using waaaay more when combusting. They weren't kidding when they said the E-nano is a frugal beast. I use the E-pik - the long arm has a notch on it that measures about where the basket should be. I may nudge the basket back a little depending on what I've got in there, but it's a good guide for placement. I had been packing more, but in the end it seemed like the taste suffered rather quickly and the extra stirring wasn't worth it compared to just reloading if needed. I'm happier with smaller loads, especially since it can take a little time to hit fully compared to combusting.

How deep is your screen installed? The magic number seems to be 15mm deep. I usually pack a load approximately 5-6mm thick in the stem with medium ground flowers.

I have only combusted one time when I first got the Nano, never cared to purposely combust with the Nano. In fact, I've learned to turn the temperatures DOWN. I wasn't enjoying the medicated effects at 7.5 personally, now I'm running mine around 6.5 all day long.

Really haven't heard of many people having issues with their Nano at all.... These vapes are really tough beasts. I've dropped mine several times and had no issues (though i of course wouldn't recommend it!)

My first exotic Figured Walnut did develop a crack over the first month of use - the crack followed a grain pattern, luckily the wood was covered under warranty since I purchased the exotic direct from EpicVape.com. Still, a crack in the wood is mainly a cosmetic issue, and if you do have an issue with cracking, it should present itself within the first few months of use - If your nano doesn't crack in those first few months, you should be golden.

I usually forget to turn down my Nano at night, so It runs pretty much 6.5 ALL the time. (Really should start using an aromatherapy cup!) - Never had one problem with it.

I developed a crack also on a walnut version. Mine is a little over a year old. I contacted Nadia recently and she said the wood has a 3 year warranty. Just fill out RMA and return, but what will I do during the return process? Now I need to order a new one so I can return my old split version. Does not affect the vape however.

Do you keep yours on or turn it on and off in between use?

Hahaha, Yeah, I've thought about buying a second Nano just so I have a spare one. But in reality, sometimes it's fun to switch up the daily driver. I learned last year when I fucked combustion it's always best to have at least one spare vape in case something goes wrong!

Yeah, pretty much leave it off. I might leave it on for the evening when I'm vaping a lot, but never overnight or any extended times. I don't think it will hurt it, I just don't see the need to leave it on all the time. I guess the wood dried out a little, and split along a grain. It's no big deal. It still cranks out the heat.

I'm set with a Volcano Digit for back-up/party sessions, or when I just have a "bad day" if you know what I mean. That and the E-nano are a nice set.

FWIW, IIRC seems walnut have been the most prone to cracking. Do love my Cherry wood and it is on pretty much all the time. Often I forget to turn it down and it will stay at 6.5 for a day or two. No issues at all.

On the silicone.... It has been included on GonG adapters for at least a year - not quite as long on stems IIRC. Some users didn't like it and removed. Could be yours is an older one or that previous owner just pulled it off. I've added it to my older GonGs. Think what I used was 3/8" ID, but not positive. Have pieces of a few different sizes all in same box.

Primary purpose is to keep from burning fingers. Works well for that. Also is nice to use if you like to pull the GonG when you clear your piece. What I do is roll it about 1/3 of the way down on itself to create a ledge. This makes it very easy to snag the GonG with your pinky or ring finger (or both) when lifting to clear. You'll be surprised how much difference the little ridge makes. Just set it up like this -

BTW.... think this is at least the third time I've posted the tip and this pic. Use the search function! It is truly your best friend on FC. Upper right corner of every page. Just check the appropriate box if you only want to search a specific thread. My original post also has some more good info - much on screens and adjustment for great hits. Check it out here . Took me all of about 2 minutes to find it with the search function.;)

My gong looks exactly the same, I love that little lip on the silicone when folded over for clearing the piece one handed as you grab the e-nano

The new gongs are shorter, there is no room for adjustment. And the screen has to go in basket style.
It works but only with very small loads.

Glad to know its not just me. I tried adjusting the screen but found the range to be pretty small. Not a problem since I love to do smaller bowls. And it wasnt a problem last night with 5 people.

I mentioned the sub par gongs a while back and also emailed customer service. Havent heard anything.

I still love the nano and the gong does work but the other one i got from them is way better.

Just to show im not bitter though, i have left my walnut nano on 10 overnight accidentally and it still hasnt split or given me any trouble. Ive done this a few times and even left it on at 5 all last night. Best vape ever.

Yeah, I don't use any of my original Epic Vape GonG's. All of my stems come from @VaPeD&CoNfUsEd - I really need to get a family photo of all my Joda Glass (Still waiting on two more currently! Lol)
