Update on the PVHES Vortex stem :

Ok , last night I only got to test it for a few dry sessions before I started
My water rituals . I do dry sessions during the day for the most part , so I
Took it with me today to give it more extensive testing .

What I noticed 1st was , with the thicker glass , you’ll need to
Heat soak your load a bit longer before you’ll see the vapors .
I had to slow my inhale slightly , to ‘ milk ‘ the vapor thru the vortex .
Not as long as you would with the Evo , but more to let it amass thru the stem .
There’s no more 4 holes in the bowl , just one a la turbo style , but not as big .

For those that like to sip and enjoy a slow relaxing session .
I think you’ll like the vortex . If you’re in a rush out the door , use the stock stems .
Once the vortex is properly heat soaked , the hits are very nice and more of them it seems .
No change in flavor or taste , not that I expected . I didn't think the clouds were any
thicker/denser per se , but def. less harsh nor irritating to the my throat .

There’s a slight more draw resistance with the vortex .
I remember back a couple of years , there was some discussion about the Venturi effect .
How it ‘ might ‘ offer an improved/bigger hit and therefore a more medicated effect .
It developed thru the Sublimator thread .
@Buildozer came up with the idea for his Vaporbox .
So I fiddled with adding a silicone mp tip to the Solo . ( I did the same with the vortex stem too . )
@ataxian upgraded it to a glass chillum mp . I’d e-mailed PV about making a stem with an already
Built in chillum tip at the end of their stems . That didn’t materialize , but PV did make a few specialty Chillums on the Solo for a few members that asked . I still use the silicone tips because I find it Eases the draw and I don’t clank my teeth on the glass anymore .

Long story … PV is listening and wants to be a part of our vaping experience .
They’ve done their R & D and decided on the position of their vortex chamber .

The extra length in the vortex , Does Not fit into the standard stock case slot :(
And my ABV was a bit lighter color at the top of my load on level 4 .
I'll want to get the Vortex Shorty , for a more complete extraction of my herbs
without having to stir .

Solo enthusiasts should have this in their quiver , especially if you’re a slow session sipper .
It is more durable and less likely to break , but it is still glass ( ataxian , you should get 2 ) .

Just ordered the Solo from Planet of the Vapes for $159.99 which included a nice metal grinder. I saw prices ranging from $120-229 so I don't think that price was too bad.

Thanks for all the help and advice. I'm excited to try it!

Was waiting for you to post befor i give my opinion. I was a bit hesitant, since only did 1 session few hours ago with the Vortex, and am relatively new to vaping also.

I concur with pretty much everything you have said. It took a bit more time then usual for it to heat up properly to release some "clouds". I did find, in my sample of 1 ;D, that it lasted quite a bit, though wasnt sure since i mostly use shorties. Ditto to extra draw resistance; if you are looking for quick, outdoor sessions, i would say away from this stem!
Also, just to add, i find the Vortex fits tighter then any other stems i own (stocks, shorties, turbos, GonG) into my Solo (i couldn't even twirl it around).

Good observation ,
I forgot to mention that I couldn't insert the vortex fully into my 6 mth old Solo ,
but was able to with my 3 yr old Solo . Will try it again at a later time .

Got 3 grams of abv vaped on level 3 from last night. Should I mix it in something to eat or revape on 7? Can't decide

Outstanding review! Great news, I'm very glad I took it on faith and ordered one, something to really look forward to.

"Music to my ears" as the saying goes, thanks.

I agree fully about PV. We are truly blessed to have them on our list of suppliers. First rate supporters of this forum and out carnal desires. I put Randy at PIU on that list as well. Both are open to considering my lame suggestions for additional products, a huge plus IMO. They listen to their customers and serve them, not merely try to profit. I have never regretted giving either of them my business, even when a slightly cheaper price was available.

Eat and come back let us know how your feeling .
Lets see if he makes it back.

If the OP doesn't make it back I claim his Solo......you guys can split up his questionable stash......

Hey team solo. What is a vortex stem? I love my PV adapter. Is this something new? All of you know how green I am at this stuff. The solo goes on road trip with the D020 in tow

Just how smelly is some bho or wax going to be on level 7? Thick vapor? It wouldn't set off a smoke detector 15 feet away at the entrance to my apartment?

Been really disappointed with my Solo recently, I was barely getting any clouds and the flavour was non-existent. So I gave my glass stem a wash in iso and wow, can't believe what a difference that made. I'm back in flavour city and exhaling nice clouds :)

I was always under the impression that the dirtier the stem, the better. Guess not....I'll be cleaning the stem much more frequently from now on.

At the very least keep the holes clear. Air gotta go somewhere

i've had my solo for a year now and thought I'd chime in. Mine took a roll-over spill in a jeep, tossed out on the gravel and broke the stem clean off, still works perfectly with just a few dings and dents. The battery seems to be losing steam, but still usually lasts all day. The four screws on the bottom have split the plastic around them but still hold everything in place. I have given it plenty of use and have dropped it more than once. I can't complain, well worth the money I paid for it.

Sounds like a beast. I'm eagerly waiting for mine to be delivered.
