Arizer Solo

So I recently bought a used Arizer Solo off of eBay that only came with the unit (i.e. no stems, charger, etc.) I got it pretty cheap, so I figured I would just order the stem and buy a charger and I still would have bought the unit for half the price of a new one (I'm a college student so this is important for me.) I went out and bought a multiple voltage adapter from Best Buy (one that switches between 9V and 12V) and plugged it in. My buddy and I rigged up our own stem and plugged the device in. It worked great for that session, but I wanted to charge it to get the portability. When I switched it to 12V, after unplugging the unit and then plugging it back in, it does the same thing consistently:
1. the top "charge" light and bottom "idle" light come on for a second.
2. the lights flash at 7 and then back to 1, then to 7 and to 2. It repeats this until it reaches six, then it stops and the charge light turns green with a hint of red in it, and the lights stay at 6.

I left it all night to see if it would charge, but after checking it in the morning I realized that it was in the same state. I unplugged it and tried to turn it on, but it either beeps for a sec then turns off, or it just doesn't turn on. Is it the charger? Should I buy an Arizer charger?

Here is a picture of the Solo plugin. You were able to use the Solo plugged in so that's a good thing. I'm not the battery expert. Thought you would like a picture. This is the stock plugin that comes with the Solo.

Thank you CarolKing!! The only difference between my charger and that one (barring brand) is the input. Yours says input: 100-240V and mine says 100-120V. I guess it's time to do some Googling..

Why switch it to 12 volts?
If it is a newer pass through Solo the power supply is 12 volts.
What voltage did you use the Solo on?
what's the amps that the power supply puts out?
Is it a Dynex charger?

It sounds like the battery to me from your description above.

I started looking thru this thread and got incredibly exhausted trying to find exactly what i wanted as im sure some have said in the past.

where should i buy one?
2 best deals i found were here
http://www.planetvape.ca/solo-vaporizer.html

and here
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-Arizer...t=LH_DefaultDomain_0&var=&hash=item2c6dc3d719

Was hesitant about the ebay one though and thats why i ask here.

Also is there anything that i must must buy to use this thing comfortably for a year or 2. My budget is extremely low atm so i was really hoping to just make one purchase of the vape and be done buying shit for it.

Thank you in advance for any guydance!
Justt ordered mine on ebay...right out of the box you can get high as shit with no assecories but there are a bunch of cool things you can do wih the Solo.

The one i bought on ebay said "WARRANTY INCLUDED" so thats a plus for sure...i trust ebay users based on their rating and Everything works out great!

You can test the charger with a multi-meter.

Do you think you might have to invest $30 on a NEW battery.....

I used it at 9V. On the bottom it says heating 9v, charging 12v.

This stuff is confusing, isn't it? First off, that notation on the bottom is from the first design, it might not even count. There (early design) the unit could sense the range from 6.9 to 9.0 and switch to "Power Adapter" (PA) mode where the heating power was drawn from the external supply, not the battery. Above that you get random flashing lights to about 10.1 Volts where it starts charging normally. The later ones will charge to lower voltages, but do not have PA modes, that is the best they can do is 'charge while using'. They need a solid battery to work as they are charging.

You need about 2.5 Amps at 9 Volts to heat but 'only' about one at 12 to charge. Can your supply give a full Amp at 12 Volts? If that is the case, it will not charge correctly. Otherwise I agree, the battery is most likely dead (perhaps the reason it was sold?) Still, it had some charge when you got it????

IIRC, if you remove the battery you can still use a PA (8 to 9 Volts, 2.5 Amps or more) to run the new models? My guess is yours is probably old enough to be the old type, it takes time to kill a battery and they've only been out less than a year.

Confusing enough?

Best wishes with it, IMO a guy really should have a Solo or two around him......

So OF, if I were to find a charger that fits the specifications of the charger that CarolKing posted, would it work?

Yes, it should (provided the battery or Solo wasn't dead). There's a Radio Shack unit several guys have had good luck with, it uses this adapter to match the Solo:
http://www.radioshack.com/enercell-adaptaplug-b/2730335.html#.VInRBKxmNiI

You might also try contacting Forum Member "Pipes", he can set you up as well. One Amp at 12 Volts to charge, 9 Volts at 2.5 Amps for PA if your model allows.

You'll still need the Correct charger .
But , if your battery is dead ,
It won't take or hold any charge .
You can still use it like your 1st time , plugged in .

If all the lights are on and the charging light is blinking, that means the battery is almost fully charged.

This may sound stupid but are you sure you're turning it on correctly? If you are, then there might be something wrong with your unit.

It might not beep if the beeper is turned off. Mine was turned off when I first got it.
To turn mine on I hold both buttons until the blue light flashes twice then I let go. If I don't hold it for those two flashes or hold it too long then my unit just turns off, iirc.

All yellow lights are blinking? That never happens while charging. I guess there is probably a problem with your solo. I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it but I'm sure someone else here can help.

When the charge light flashes red on my Solo ,
it's an indication of very low battery and needs
to be recharge . Once plugged in , the charge light will blink green
until fully charged on 7 . Then it'll stop .

The all yellow lights flashing is strange to me .

Does it heat up at all , when plugged in ? ( new version only )
And try keeping it plugged in to see if it'll switch from red to green
on the charge light .

I got my Ed wood adapter today

Puff it up will hook you up treat you right and they will send it to you with stems, charger etc.

Ask for Randy; he is sooo nice and knows everything.

Still waiting for the PV adapter.

Boy, the way this thread is going you would think there's a winning lottery attached to these units.

I can't wait to hook up the dough boy to BB tomorrow; it's still not the exhale beast but as a portable it's the best I've seen so far. I don't see why the pax is so popular. The solo is such an awesome unit.

Voice gets better all the time. Friday Highday is almost here. Yeah. Still want to open the ultimate try it before you buy it vape shop.

West coasters hang in there - east coast got the bad weather as well but if you turn on your solo you just plug into pandora or XM and just hang.

LI - let's make it legal everywhere - MOM
