Mentioned a few pages back how my solo was acting up after sitting unused for a while ... The constant flashing idle killed the battery quickly - upon recharging it, the problem disappeared!
So basically ... Just absolutely still love my solo. Wanted to get an ascent but I can't find a reason to.
Just need a power adapter now for the solo!

The firefly battery is only good for 2 bowls? Wow what a trip. People are cool with that huh?

Based on the TV T1 experience, some (few) are OK with two bowls per battery, but it was a huge issue with many/most. That was the driving force behind the Cera and now Luna products I think. To get there (say 5 or 6 bowls now, 30 to 45 minutes of heat) TV had to cut the power demand way back (increasing insulation and using the heat more efficiently in the process) as well as going to a larger battery format for longer run times. Cera LL runs about 1/3 (or a little less) the power of FF currently (bad pun, I know......). Using 1/3 the power lets it do 3 times the bowls per charge (in broad terms). Short battery life in convection vapes was identified as a weak point a couple years back, not much has changed.

Consider how this relates to Solo. The typical 6 or 8 sessions is OK for most, but lots of guys would like more (isn't that the case always?) and most will start to panic if that slips to 3 or 4 bowls. With Solo we're further blocked by not being able to swap in fresh batteries, but external battery packs serve the same function for those who insist.

Oh yes the flavor is unusually great. lll compare to the Solo soon as it gets here, But FireFly is a very specific new thing, engineered for great taste.

I'm looking forward to my Solo, but dig this: the Firefly is all metal and glass/ceramic.

Great, by all means do. A 'head to head' (and objective) comparison would be most welcome and useful I think.

But, not to detract from FF materials, so are it's two real competitive products in that class. Both Bender (all glass) and Cera (all ceramic and metal) share these features and therefore the same sort of taste performance I'm guessing (having never tried or even seen a FF).

Anyone who owns a Bender or Cera LL will tell you the taste is superior to Solo I believe. To make a real 'apples to apples' comparison I think it's only far to compare FF to Bender and Cera, not to Solo. Solo should, I believe, be judged against other vapes in it's class......which it often is, with nothing to be ashamed of.

Not everyone has the same goals/needs in selecting their gear. Solo seems to fit well with a very large number of folks. Many of us have Cera LL or Benders (some both). I think the nearly universal report from those owners is the Solo gets the most use. I think that says a lot. Those keen on ultimate taste have other, better options right now. Good to know another is coming on line.

Thanks for the input, I hope you enjoy your Solo when it comes, I think for practical purposes "everyone does"?

Yes, it seems that the Solo is the most universal portable. The Firefly is a specialty vape that uses the whole smarts of the PIC micro controller to focus on vapor taste and below 400 deg F fractions while making it pretty intuitive. In fact overthinking it just gets in the way. Both THC and CBD vaporize below 400dg F. Even Myrcene, of Couch-Look fame, boils below 400 deg F.

It's not a Contest to me. I want both/all. There are times you might want Your Hummer or a 3/4 ton Tactical and there are times for your Maserati, even if you never intended to take it out for a drive, it handles so nice.

And I swear if you like a focused and wide awake vape, the Firefly noticeably colors the experience in that direction. Don't totally drain your bud, save the day's ABV and milk it all the way for that sedative nightcap.

OK well written post again!

I have the BENDER attachment for the PERSEI and it is to me the best tasting portable vaporizers know to man kind! However when my projects are finished I sit back relax and enjoy the fine flavor that can be produced in a all glass bowl and path. It's not for everybody and not as portable as the SOLO or these types of devices! Glad to own this one. Please don't get this unless your set up for it!

The CERA I've never tried and maybe I'm not correct in thinking I need 2 x 18350's to power my SHATTER? Otherwise I would have a CERA already!

Currently I use the SOLO more than any other vaporizer I own. I charge after 4 sessions automatically! Not paying attention I've gone 6 or 7 sessions however 4 is standard.
I sound like a broken record I'm sure to say this:

One unit is over 2 1/2's old the other 2 years and my 3rd one is the last model before the current format. They work extremely well and the ease of use amazing.

Flavor wise the BENDER is superior however not practical. Simple operation the SOLO in my unqualified opinion is the best unit.

Now I have plug in vaporizers I love that I feel is another subject all together.

The FIRE FLY is a smaller well made portable vaporizer. I vaporize at home and since have the 70's syndrome of staying on the down low.
Of the small portable units the FIRE FLY seems to fill a void!

I plan to get one along with 6 others I plan to buy.

3 SOLO's I have and found I only use one actually so the other 2 are collecting dust! One of anything is enough really!

Since I found CANNABIS to be better than DRUGS I find glass water pipes, bubbler's, sherlock's and whatever else you might like in glass pairs exceptionally well with the SOLO. (I love the SOLO with smaller glass pieces)
Now to me to compare a FIRE FLY to a SOLO is not very scientific!

Totally different vaporizers for a different purpose,

Both good vaporizers just very different!

I write about the water advantage!
Dry is nice as well!

I have that super happy feeling when buying a new toy!! Trying to decide on Black vs Silver. Normally i get everything black. But for some reason im diggin silver.

Is black more stealth? What about doing the trick inside the drink cup, does silver hide better?
So freakin excited. Hitting vegas next week not sure if anyone knows the band Umphreys McGee. Hoping they allow drinks at the concert woohooo!!!

Something new has been added. I wanted a glass mouthpiece for the Pinncle Water Tool, so I took my old bong down stem, inverted it and carefully worked it through the hole in a brewing cork:

The rig has an incredibly smooth easy draw and no restriction with newer model Solo and standard type gong. When I use it on the couch, the lengh is perfect; I don't even lift it. Just tip it.

Very common problem, mine did the same. I don't remember dropping it or hitting on a hard surface or anything else. But if I was you, I'd ignore it and just use it.

I had silver and I love it looks all terminator-esque.

can't see that cup idea being much use? Then there's the smell the vapour smells like strong weed just missing the foul clinging combustion smell. But it does smell it dissipates quickly after use the pipe smells but not the unit.

I got a PnP to be portable just awaiting a revised mouthpiece the PnP is way harsher than
the solo

Can't sleep!
Two Session's = (PHVES Dry with CHILLUM TIP + 14mm PHVES + D020 Bubbler) + (CACTUS COOLER + JC OG) Best I've felt at this time of morning! Very Citrus (Orange/Pineapple) Flavor decent Medication however well grown Grand Daddy Purple (GRAPE SODA) medicates even better! Unfortunately I'm out!

The SOLO (no plug) turn it on and medicate.

Some bash this unit all they want however their words will fall on deaf ears!

I feel better now!

Do what feels right for you!

This is what I do:

Set SOLO Level at 4
Loosely load stem with grinder bud. (sometimes I load whole or course)
When the SOLO reaches level 2 or just before I take my first draw.
I keep medicating until flavor declines.
I get around 10 solid draws however will vary with the cure of the flower!
Some time I get much less/more!

Level 4 Dry or Wet.
Sometimes I like level 3 Dry.

Depends really!

Some start at 5 and finish at 7!
If you can handle it?

Hi everyone; you have such a great source of info! You helped me a lot last days to choose a vaporizer; Now I thing I'll go for the Solo...
However, I have still some concerns about it; and after reading many info; I'd like to know the actual state of the question:

Which is currently the safest model to buy? avoiding toxic smells / particles is my first concern. I've read some models gave smell problems... is this currently happening to anyone, with the newest versions?

Does the lithium batteries, aluminium shell or other built in materials represent a potential risk to health? is 100% clean the airpath?

Thanks again guys.

Holy crap 12 minutes? Im used to packing a huge bowl of flowers into my dirty small little bubbler which usually has no water inside, killing it all in one massive rip, then putting everything away before i even exhale. Takes about 20 second start to finish.

This will take some adjusting, mostly mentally. Can i just crank the sucker up to 7 and take one huge mega rip to vape the entire bowl?

Last question, what is the current newest Solo model? Im checking out ebay and people are calling the M1c-m1d the newest.

EDIT: While writing this Randy from PUffitUp replied to my email. Literally 6 minutes later!! He said it goes M1c, M1d, M1e, and now M1a4 which they just got in this morning. I guess it can be used while charging.

Just paid for it. Thanks for all the amazing advice on this forum!!!

You can crank it to 7 still gonna take several minutes to get all the decent vapour.

It is hard getting used to vaping it seems more of a hassle but it's not really and the solo is great mines m1e 1 so same as yours?

Using it on charger seems to maybe have some pitfalls with the units firmware maybe. There are some posts about the units freaking out light wise or something

How do you guys determine a bowl is done when using the Solo? Also, does anyone approve of the freezing while intact before you grind it, do you just keep the pieces of the flower in the freezer until you're ready to grind it? Does anyone disapprove of using these methods for the Solo? This thing is still a bit new and I want as much information as possible to save botanicals, as well as I can.

So, the consensus is to start with 2 and work your way up until it stop tasting anything.

The herb starts to taste like off/burnt popcorn it should be brown ish in colour I don't think there's any exact science to it due to so many variables.

I'm not sure about freezing it?
I have done years ago but I think the crystals may fall off

Sad news. My replacement, replacement Solo is acting up! Sigh. Good news is that I got to play with it enough that I have more data regarding the issue.

As you may recall from my previous posts, I was loving life with my new Solo. Thing was putting out bad-ass clouds with little effort. Then on day 4 or 5 things started to slowly decline. Vapor production went down, and draw effort went up. Whats even stranger was that I would see 2 and even 3 heat levels drop when I was pulling (at a normal Solo slow inhale pace.... outside on a 78* day).

I tried all sorts of configurations and packing techniques, and didn't get better results but did get more info (all using the same material I was using to get huge clouds before BTW). Basically what I would find is that if I turned the heat up high enough I would seriously darken the plant matter in contact with the heater base, but would only get a half assed extraction for the top 2/3 of the stem.

Basically, I was seeing a lot of conduction with little convection.

Now, I also tried this with and without a PV o-ring however I only used the stock Solo stemware in my tests. Regardless, the same stem was getting me gigantic clouds of vapor last week. As for the restriction, Im not sure. Stem and screen are obviously clean and I tried everything from whole nug to almost falling out loose pack, fine grind. I even went so far as to use Dustoff to try and blow out and obstructions from the heater area and in the vent holes under the base of the unit. No go. I did find, though, that the draw restriction tends to get much worse as the session progresses and things warm up.

Im at a loss and just contacted Randy @PuffItUp to see what he thinks. I'm sure PIU will still help out given what a stand up operation they run, however I am concerned that I havent seen anyone else with this issue. Make me feel like its user error even though this isnt my first rodeo bu a long shot, you know?

Also, let this be a lesson to people to always go with a AAA quality vendor. I cant imagine the PITA this would all be if I bought my Solo through Ebay, or even straight from Arizer for that matter, lol.

Edit: I did notice that one of the black plastic clips that hold the heater assembly (in between each set of screws on the top, under the screw cap) wasnt on all the way. I used some pliers and a chopstick to get it back into position. This didn't seem help.
