First of all, convection vs conduction, the flavor in this vape should be awesome (I still don't have one).

Second, the quality of the components make it more expensive to build. I think that you can't compare the MFLB with a FF price wise.

As has already been stated, theres no comparison. The magic flight looks like something i made in a middle school shop class and uses external batteries and is purely conduction.

The firefly is on a whole different level. I dont agree with the pax comparison either. Except build quality they are completely different. I think the only thing the FF can be compared to right now is the cera.

As for hitting it ive been getting great results hitting it with a very light draw, almost like im just breathing normally with the FF blocking my mouth.

Now to the bad part, ive had the FF for a week or so. Loved it right out of the box. Have charged it 3 times and now all of a sudden it wont work, doesnt glow and wont charge!!!!! I say everytime im not gonna but a vape when it first comes out and i always give in

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
hey everyone i have been away for awhile.. good to be back! i just picked up an FF from my lhs (something i rarely do but the price was competitive) and WOW im impressed. it took about 2 sessions before i got the hang of it. i get nice clouds similar if not better than the solo and 100x better than my PN. taste isnt amazing but i would consider it above average.
i have had NO COMBUSTION in fact i was surprised that people were having trouble. i have not tried to combust and did read other reviews before using it so that might be why. i find a medium grind and medium pack work well.... the tighter i pack the bigger the clouds from what i have observed.
the next step is to order some arizer domes which im not a 100% sold on yet but we will see. ohh and of course an extra batt

Go to the firefly website and enter chat. They have always been great on customer service. Sarah C is gone but I am sure they will take care of you!
When you say enter chat, do you mean use the contact sheet and send for help?
I see no chat option on the Firefly website.
I do see a chat website at http://www.meetme.com/member/38030679, but it appears it is run by "Firefly Vaporizer".. a 28 year old Female in the Phillipines.

In the lower right hand corner of the firefly website there is an icon for livechat...click that and all your issues will be resolved!

How many here are still having issues with that little viewport seal? Every time I clean this unit the seal trys to slip out...not a real problem for me but others might have a difficult time dealing with it. I have tightened the screws several times but the seal still slips out a bit. I talked to the new rep Shelby and they want me to send it back and get another lid. The lid I have is ascetically perfect so I'm going to try and glue it in place. Any ideas on type of adhesive I should use?

HAHAH Vitolo the one reason i waited to buy the ff was because i wanted to see what you had to say... but i pulled the trigger anyway. Cant wait for your review :D

What, you didn't care what us early adopters had to say? :suspicious:

Curious to know what you think, @Vitolo ! :)

Still waiting to hear back from @Stu and @Slightly Medicated too. :whip:

I'm growing insanely more fond of my FF with each passing day.

Been using it more and more with each passing day, as well...

The screws could be too tight. It's counterintuitive, but think about it a bit and it will make sense. I would back the screws out a bit, then position the seal exactly where it needs to be, then retighten until you have resistance and then just a little bit more. For an even better chance at success, I would take the porthole assembly apart and clean everything thoroughly before retightening.

Just get a new one — do not do it yourself.
If it keeps up, I'm a gonna send her back...

Thank you, but this is not the issue. I had asked customer service for a new seal only but they have none in stock...the seal I have appears deformed on one side as if it were folded or twisted on installation. I used a drop of glue, (a type of supper glue), it is staying in place much better so I can tighten the screws. I think they used some type of adhesive but alcohol takes it out. Such a small issue and the lid I have is ascetically beautiful without a blemish. Now it is working until tomorrow's cleaning, we will see.

A. Send it back. But B. Yes, don't over tighten the screws. It makes the seal pop out.

Haven't had issues with mine since I re-seated it, but I'm also using a swab with iso to clean the port. Cloth or paper towel rubbed on the window can cause the seal to pop.

I hated them in the FF. They fixed a problem I don't have (keeping the glass bowl clean) and ruined the taste, completely subverting the design elegance of the FF. YMMV and all that, but occasionally vape designers are smarter than us eager modders are.

Are you using enough alcohol into seep in the gasket area? I only dampen a q-tip and then blot out any extra on a cloth — no chance any alcohol will harm my gaskets this way. Curious why alcohol seems to screw your unit's gaskets up so frequently?

And the gasket is on the outside....so using iso on the inside, unless you are flooding the glass with it, shouldn't hit the gasket. FF have told us explicitly not to use iso on the outside of the FF.

Amid The Vapors...
I'm sorry if this has been addressed earlier in the thread. I saw mention of a 220v version coming out later. Is there perhaps a battery charger that works with this battery at 220v?

I have more or less eliminated the issue with the window staying clear of debris. With an even draw, even with a quicker speed I have adopted, I only get pieces to fly up if I really pull too hard. In general, I don't think a top screen is necessary with proper technique. I have also found more success in "finishing" the bowl recently with no charring.

@mitchgo61 good to know. i was hesitant because i felt that the dome would cause some conduction to take place.... if i wanted conduction i would not have purchased the ff lol. i will hold off on buying them as long as the bowl stays clean.

has anybody tried using the ff without the screen? im sure it would be a mess....but i am curious. :science:

no i meant conduction though my logic is probably wrong. i thought that the extra metal from the dome might retain heat, causing your herb to cook for a little while after the oven is off. it would explain why people say they get darker abv and degraded flavor.

like i said it was just a thought that i had i could very well be wrong.

Actually we were speculating a couple pages back about how this might actually create conduction...a metal basket heats up in the FF chamber and cooks material via conduction. My taste issues (and also the way it cooked) made me think there was a convection/conduction hybrid happening.

When I first started using the Firefly you could say I had to learn not to combust rather than learn to vape from the Firefly.

I have continued to refine my technique to the point where I no longer feel the need to "pull as hard and fast as I can". I can now pull at a reasonable rate and still get satisfying results.

I've had a few charred bits in my ABV, and experienced some "burnt" flavor in my vapor, but I would say it is far from combustion. I've experienced combustion in my T1 and MFLB (actual flames visible in the trench), and this is no where near that.

The first hit produces thin cool vapor. Subsequent hits get more dense, but none feel like they are approaching combustion.

I'll be honest, I think I would prefer a unit that does not approach combustion. Nothing kills "stealth" like the smell of combustion coming from a vape. :)
