OK.. So I have a bit of a problem.

I accidentally spilt some aroma therapy oil into my underdog..

This happened a few months ago.. I cleaned it up the best I could, but some must have gotten inside and the smell still will not go away. What are my options here?

What kind of oil was it Hiro? Natural or a synthetic? How long have you let the vape run since then?

I've done this myself a time or two and have been able to plug the Dog in and let it burn off the oil remnants over a period of a day or two.

It was a synthetic oil. I've left my UD on all day a few times to try and burn it off. It did help a bit, but there is still a noticeable smell. I have not tried leaving it on for more than 12 hours because it gets quite hot. I'll try leaving it on for longer this time to see if it helps. Thank you.

Hiro, what voltage are you running it at? If it's low, you might try ~13.5 or somewhere on the higher end. Lower temps might not fully burn off all the residue. If you've got the regular wall plug that should get plenty hot on it's own.

Once upon a time, I spilled a good swig of beer down mine and 2 days later the taste and smell were basically gone (thank god) so it should be okay.

I personally prefer the darker woods, e.g. Cocobolo, Rosewwood, Walnut, etc. You guys must have noticed by now how quickly the dark wood Dogs fly off the shelf. IMO, there could be a greater proportion of dark wood dogs in each batch. Just my :2c:.

@ Clouded Vision - congrats on the contest win man.. hope you enjoy the Lost Dog. WoopWoopWoop indeed.

@ Crohnie - noted, I'll see what I can do.

Hey Dogs, been a while since I had time to post.. been super busy in the shop lately with lots of custom orders. Just about caught up for now though so thought I'd drop by.

I'll be posting another update in the next few days for some product updates, additions to the website and if I can finalize all details some info on a promotion we'll be running for the holiday season. Decided to do something for the holidays this year instead of our normal B-day vape thing. :peace:

Stem is the thick silicon and the 18mm male to hose adapter is from Aqualab. It was the most direct one I could find. The hose part is smaller than 3/8" so I clamped it down with cable ties.

Concave screen. I did convex (dome screen) for a while and found that it has a tendency to jam up around the edge making for less effective surface area and must be cleaned often with a sharp pick. I find concave easier.

I've experimented with different stem lengths and I've found that I like about 1-2cm gap between the screen and where the UD heater goes. I found that when the heater presses up against the herb it sometimes will ignite it, especially if I run it at 14v.

I don't have a variable voltage source but I have two adapters that I switch back and forth. One is a so-called 12v but doesn't do much. Power sources do vary though. I had another 12V that worked fine, but gave out after a few months.

I've been able to keep my power supplies running longer by bracing the cables. I just ran a couple of passes of duct tape around where the cable connects to the bottom of the plug. I think the weight of the cable hanging unsupported was putting too much stress on it.

Hey, all. Just received my underdog in the mail and so far I'm at a bit of a loss. I've either charred the herb or straight up combusted on every hit I've taken so far. Even if I take like a one second hit, I'll take away the stem and the material will be black. Just leaving the herb inside the stem (I have the nylon stems) not anywhere near the heating port makes the herb start to char and smoke because of how hot the metal tip is, and you can forget about actually leaving it inside the heat port... I don't know what to do about this-- any helpful tips? Am I just being an idiot?

Hey Boranel which piece do you have? Occasionally a piece will run a little warmer or cooler than it's peers, sounds like yours is of the hot variety. PM or email me and we'll help find a way to cool your Pup down. :peace:

@ Darkrom - Long time no see dude.. nice to see you pop in for a visit. I think your King's Jester UD is one of the oldest on FC, glad to hear it's still got a spot in your rotation.

Speaking of stems (GonG or otherwise) I've got 2 new types to add to the website tonight or tomorrow hopefully. They're basically replacements for the Simple Glass Stems and the 14mm GonG Stem and are nicer quality, better performing and are easier to clean and a change bowl size/depth. They should be the same price or maybe even a little bit less expensive.

Anyone interested in a sneak-peak? If enough people ask nicely Underdogette might be motivated to post pics here late tonight before adding them to the website. :D

Awesome! Can't quite get the dark roast I like with the current gongs ... an adjustable screen will be perfect.

I'd love a sneak peek dogette!

:wave:I would love a peek.. My buddy has a GonG stem and was complaining about the fixed screen placement just the other day.. I'll have to pass on the news.

On a sad note.. My UD is out of food ATM :(.. But not for long :D

I just noticed that my 14mm GonG stem had a piece around the tip chip off, so definitely interested!

Let's get some pictures! I left my GonG half way across the state and need a new one.

Been going oldschool with the simple glass stem the past few weeks.
