Hi all,
well I took my nano for its first test drive last night, and unfortunately I was a little disappointed.
firstly I had the issue with the all glass stem of bits of herb ending up in my mouth, so I guess I will stick to using my other stem with the metal screen in, and also install an extra screen in the all glass one, though I have a feeling this will be fiddly, and I would appreciate some guidance on this.
I also had the issue when I had filled the stem that most of the herb inside it dropped out into the unit so I had to turn it over and tap the bottom to get it to come out.
Having said that I did enjoy the bit of flavor I got to taste, but I suspect I didn't get to appreciate the units full potential.
Any tips on getting my herb to stay in place would be appreciated, I did try using the epic to give it a prod but that didn't seem to help.
most of my material is ground up, but its not what you would call really finely ground, I do have a bit that isn't ground yet, the problem I have is allot of it is mixed in with leaves and bits of stem so grinding is kind of needed, anyway I have a bit ground up that I can normally use in my PD fine so not quite sure what the trick is to putting it through my nano.
Any help and advice would be appreciated I did like the very easy draw from the unit, and it was really nice holding the warm glass stem. I tried inserting the stem into the unit with the unit tilted at an angle, took a few draws and then stood the unit up right on the desk with stem inserted. This is basically the same technique I use when first drawing from my pd and mostly herb seems to stay in place.

I use a screen in my glass stem.

When you fill your stem, keep the herb end UP. Pick UP the Nano, and flip it upside down. Mate the stem to the heat port. turn it however you need to in order to draw, then flip it upside down again to separate.

When you grind your herb, do not grind so fine. I use a coarse "shred" that minimizes fine bits. You can also slip a bit of organic cotton in the other end of the stem to filter out any bits.

I prefer to use the GonG on a bubbler, which I then mate the Nano to (upside down). Drawing through water catches all the bits.

Almost there...
DONT GRIND YOUR HERB!!
It works so much better just to use a small nug, take a few hits and stir with the Epic tool and finish it off.
I also use a small mesh screen in my glass stem with the glass screen.
Never had herb in my mouth and after a few loads the mesh screen does not move at all!

This is how i do it:
1- Turn on E-Nano and let it heat up for a good 5 to 10 minutes. The outside should be nice and warm.
2- Load a nug in the stem and place on heater.
3- Draw speed varies with herb i find, some you can power through in one breath, others i tend to milk over a few hits!
4- Wait for trip to start!

Try it again and do not be afraid to experiment!

OK I get about putting the nano on to the stem upside down, but once you flip the nano over to draw from it what's to stop the herb falling out of the stem?
I don't want to have to take the stem off after each hit, what I like to do is set a stem up for an evening or however long it takes me to get through it and then leave it standing in my vape of choice and kind of graze from it.

You can leave the stem on if you pack your bowls. But it's better to only loosely pack them and hit it sideways like a joint. And it's recommend to take the stem off after each hit, just to save the heater core from getting little bits in it.

maybe I am doing something wrong, I have tried again tonight and I am still not getting hits as good as my PD.
Perhaps I should try attaching the silicone tubing to one of my nano stems, am I right in thinking this improves the seal between the vaporizer and the stem?
Also do people usually put the hole bit of tubing they are sent on to one stem or cut it into sections and attach small bits to different stems?
I am sure it must be my usage technique I can't believe the unit doesn't give as good highs as the PD.

What temp do you have the nano set at and are you pulling slow? Because the nano likes it a little fast...I don't know what else to say. Put more bud in?

One other question we may all have missed:

Can you post a pic or provide a link of the specifications of your adapter?
This will let us see if the Nano is getting all the power it is supposed to.
That could also be a problem?

Hi all, I just tried again with the nano, I increased my draw speed and added more bud.
Then I wacked the dial to maximum, waited about ten minutes and vaped. Wow this thing is a monster I must say.
Just wondering is there a recommended time for leaving the dial at maximum? I have found my converter gets quite hot.
I now feel quite calm and heavy with the PD I usually feel alive and really energetic.
I don't leave the dial at max all the time and in fact turn it off when not in use.

The difference in the high can likely be attributed to the bud you're using or the higher temperature since you're using the maximum setting. I always use my Nano with water and I have never hit my nano above 7.5 (i usually stay at 7) because it'd be overly harsh above that, likely reaching combustion temps or at least charring my bud :puke:

You should be reaching combustion temperature at the max setting. Maybe something is wrong with your converter... you did say it came from China (I think). I recommend going out and buying a quality converter locally to test with.

What does your vaped bud look like?

Yeah I agree with above. I have even combustion at 6.5. Can't even imagine 10.

The E-Nano is incredible. I'm chilling with my Uncle right now using my old e-nano and its amazing. At 5.5 right now.

Just to chime in: I have found that 7.5-8 is the perfect setting for me. Big clouds from the start and depleted ABV at the end. The quality of bud does make a big difference in vapor production, though, one that people often overlook, I think. If the trichs aren't there, the vapor won't be either.

Hi,
regarding my converter its quite possible it might not be very good, to be honest I was dubious about buying it from ebay as it only cost about £3.
I actually looked at ones that cost about £25 on amazon, but when I asked Andy for advice because I wasn't sure if the specifications were OK for the nano he sent me the link to the ebay one and advised me to get it.
as to what my bud looks like I can't say as I am blind, but I do know that I don't get any smell of burning at maximum temperature, which I am sure I would as often stuff still falls out of my stem and ends up on the top of the heater where the stem rests.

This is so medicating!

I really hope you get this all sorted out!
Once you find your level and flower conditions.

GRIND = Screens
Small Whole Buds (Nuggets) = screen not needed!

Level 6.5 to 8 after 10 minute pre-heat.
Water Path or Dry path both work great.

With my ATAXIA this works well for me MEDICALLY!

1) It does sound like the adapter is the problem. It should not be getting hot, and it does sound like your heater is not getting hot enough.
2) The Nano has a larger diameter opening in the stem than a PD which makes it less restrictive (easier) to draw than the PD. The tradeoff is it is easier for material to fall out. I don't grind at all so I don't have that issue. As far as material going through the holes on the all glass stem you can put a little cotton or even use the stainless steel screen. A tip is to put them in the stem from the mouthpiece side so they don't move around when you stir your material.

Hi,
the link to the ebay listing for the converter I bought is below,
http://www.ebay.com/itm/50W-US-AC-P...ctronics_PowerAdaptors_SM&hash=item4168ad2347
I don't know if this would make a difference to the converter, I am using it on an extension cord, I don't believe the extension has a serge protector built in but I am not sure.
But I suddenly wondered if using it on an extension might be causing an issue.
I have noticed that my converter does get very warm, not sure if hot is the right word, it also appears to stay warm if left plugged in with the nano turned off completely.
Anyway if the consensus is my converter is rubbish which I am beginning to think, as come on especially with electrical stuff you do get what you pay for, can people recommend me a converter which is good quality and works? I am in the UK so would need it to be compatible with a UK power supply.

Hi,
thanks for the ebay links, I have ordered the 500 watt converter, I thought the nano only needed 15 watts, so although I was dubious about getting a cheap converter from China originally, I thought if the nano only needs 15 watts then I still have 35 to play with.
It will be interesting to see if the new converter makes a difference.
Either way I feel happier knowing I will be using the nano in a more expensive converter I mean if I bought it for £3, how much did it cost them to produce in the factory and what does that say about the quality of the unit.

I know I want to upgrade from an Extreme Q to a GonG wooden log vape for my upcoming Leviathan Big Mona order (I love water pathways/bubblers!), but I can't decide between an Underdog or an E-Nano vape (on wait list for the HI Log for six more months :().

Are the Underdog and E-Nano similar? Are there any other alternatives I should check out? I'm putting a premium on GonG-to-Bubbler pathway, minimal pathway before hitting the bubbler, *fast* vapor production (from off to vapor clouds in <= 2/3 minutes), really nice thick cloud vapor production, and flavor.

Well the mods don't usually allow comparisons in a vape specific thread. But the E Nano does heat up faster than the UD and I consider the all glass gong to be a huge advantage when the primary use is with a water path. I also like the fact that the temp on the E-Nano is adjustable out of the box and doesn't require a vvps.
However they're both excellent vapes.:2c:

Edit: In fact i was drawn to the E Nano for the reasons listed above

I'm just curious, does anyone know how long it takes now before the E-Nano ships after you order it? Can't wait to get my E-Nano (yet again) :-).

I ordered one 8/12/13 (last Monday). On 8/17/13 (Saturday) I ordered another one along with some accessories and was told they would both ship on 8/21(Wednesday). The two cherry Nanos are coming with the all glass stem that I will probably add a ss screen to. I ordered the gongs with the ss screen not the all glass. Cant wait to see this thing!

Nice! I had a Walnut E-Nano, and I ordered the same exact one, plus one of those all-glass stems again. Got the same exact setup :-).
