I think I'm done with oils/waxes/shatter etc.

Please, we must all remember: Imagine how cheap pot would be if it were truly legal. As Lennon said, Imagine.... Way cheaper than cigarettes. Cheaper than beer. Remember, totally legal means anyone can grow it (and when it is legal, everyone will and prices will crash), and it is relatively easy to grow -- again, when it is totally legal.

Imagine. How cheap.

I mean, really cheap. like fucking lettuce or broccoli, yes, that cheap. There is absolutely no reason you should pay $400 an oz. for good pot when it costs about as much to grow good lettuce and broccoli. It is fucking insane.

on one hand it seems like it would be a lot cheaper if it was legal, and yeah if you could grow your own that would certainly be true but on the other hand imagine if all of the other living costs stayed relatively fixed like the cost of a bag of weed has! I'd sure like to be paying the same price for gas that i was twenty years ago, the same with food costs! yet a bag of kind has remained roughly the same in that time period, primarily because it was on the black market. think of what the price of cigs has done in that twenty year time frame!

and then there is the tax man wanting his cut if it were legal...

don't get me wrong, I want it legalized as much as the next person but I don't think it necessarily means the price will get cheaper esp if you have to purchase it over growing it.

shredhead I understand your repentance to concentrates.

Now I respect you so please don't take this wrong however I have a different point of view!

I do not believe you can compare a FLOWER VAPORIZER and a OMNICROM.
It's like Apples and Oranges!
The SOLO for FLOWERS wow I love it thing.
The OMNICROM for PG or WAX OMG so tasty, fast and STEALTH!

I do my fair share of FLOWERS and love them.

I would quit as well if the material was sub standard!
CONCENTRATES have their place.
High Quailty well Purged in a PERSEI another level!

I enjoy both! (Talking Top Shelf Only both FLOWERS and OILS)

Yes it is apples to oranges. But I just can't get a fulfilling high out of my omicron carts. They can keep my buzz going from a flower session, but it's very hard to produce a new high that will last a couple hours from an omni cart. I respect your love for the flavor, but I just am not as happy with concentrates as I am flowers. :peace:

Vaping is a way of life!
polar extractions(BHO) can extract high amounts oh THC but not as much of the real medicine cbn/cbd's.
Thats probably why the high is way different.

According to Dr Paul Hornby, a chemist and plant analyst who runs a company (www.hedron.ca) that tests cannabis products for purity and potency, "Budder is the cleanest, most potent cannabis product I've ever tested."
Marijuana contains various cannabinoids, Hornby explains, with THC usually predominant. Hemp has barely a percent or two of THC. The best dried marijuana bud generally maxes out at about 27% THC. Sieved hashish averages about 45% THC. Bubblehash averages about 53% THC. Solvent-extracted products usually have more THC than bud, water hash or sieved hash, but none have tested as high as Budder, and Hornby says Budder is further distinguished because it does not contain any heavy metals, radioactivity, or other markers associated with inferior fertilizers used on source bud.
"The top Budder sample was 99.6% pure," Hornby explained, "which means if you had an ounce of it, only a tiny fraction of a gram would be anything other than cannabinoids. We also tested Budder for toxins, solvents, molds, diseases, heavy metals and other contaminants. There were none. It's essentially just pure cannabinoids. I've tested a lot of cannabis materials, but this is the most impressive."
Hornby's tests also found Budder contains 80 to 90% of its cannabinoids as THC. It contains much smaller percentages of two other cannabinoids: cannabidiol and cannabinol. Of these two, cannabidiol (CBD) is most important because it has medicinal effects and moderates the stimulative effects of THC.[4]

The way I look at it were blessed to have access to oils and bud's alike , I like to use my herbs for pain and other symptoms but oils help me in other ways when pain is not an issue.

This study was done in 2005, but think now how much better it has possibly gotten.
Shatters are really an art to make (we call them extract artist here in cali) as beautiful as it is, seems budder might be the ticket.

Look into the rick simpson story "run from the cure", some interesting stuff.

So all in all, after knowing all this, oil/concentrates will always have a place in my heart.

Interesting read BLAZING OG

I'm pretty new to extracts but what separates budder from shatter? I understand the physical differences, but isn't the difference just how purged the product is? Where are all of these cannabinoids being lost when it shifts from budder to shatter?

I would be incredibly interested to see what the 99.6% pure budder he tested looked like. Does anyone know if dispensary and the likes sell budders that potent? Most bho is around 80% usually isn't it?

Its hard to really tell with out sophisticated equipment, but Budder is whipped and shatter is just vacuum purged at the right temps for the right amount of time(plus a bunch of others steps eg.witerization or absolute shatter). Interesting if like your stating that shatter removes some WANTED stuff, not sure, but more reading and research awaits me.
Iam glad you liked it , pretty informative stuff. Honestly theres a particular dude who pretty much is credited for inventing the budder and its procedures and his is the budder that came back the most potent and cleanest as per the article.

@AdmiralAlpacha , DID you check out the video i posted just a couple post back or above this one I should say, rick simpson???

Don't know much about how it was made, but I had some Kush taffy and Grape Krush hash and both were decent.

are you sure that the low amounts of cbn/cbd isn't a result of most strains not having much of them to begin with?

butane is a non-polar extraction. I'm pretty sure that cdn/cbd is extracted right along with the thc, it's just that most strains have been bred to have low amounts of them.

Forgot the the non- part thanks, but my point was more to spark interest in wether the cdb/cbn's are getting fully extracted as thc does, I dont believe it does, but of course it also does matter if the strain is low in cdb/cbd's.
My buddy makes both extracts and I get a more full body effect(pain relief) from the C02 oils , but not as much from the Bho's made from the exact same strain.
Lest just say, Hypothetically speaking bho pulled out X-% of the available THC, and Y-% of the available cbd/cbn's.

Good call, and let me know if you find any more info, Iam very interested.

id say even recreational users are medicating and they done even know it. i love it for everything it does for me. truly love it. i live in a stupid state that has its head up its ass so no card, but i know for a fact that it helps me every day even w/out a medicine doctor to tell me i need it. who cares really? its the most amazing plant on the planet and is good for all who enjoy or need it.

certified "cloud chaser" because it helps me every day.

That is how I feel too, I'm still new to them though.

I was worried they wouldn't work well with me, since sativas can sometimes bug me out a little. But the balance seems to be fine so far.

I've been dabbing almost exclusively for a week or so. Using small dabs I'm able to get equally as medicated while experiencing much less lung discomfort.

I'm in love with extracts thus far. I'd really like to know whether I'm getting my cbd's and cbn's though. Sometime I would like to make a run with a high cbd strain and see how it compares.

See I loved oils for everyday use for a long time. Then they started to mess with my tolerance and make me not enjoy my flowers as much. I feel like there needs to be balance and too much oil defiantly throws me off. I'm more irritated and never in as good of a mood if I'm only using oils. Flowers just seem to have everything I need and oil is like a couple dabs a week for me when I need a real fast session.

I love good shatter (for me, it's the only bho... the others -budder, wax, etc...- are failed shatter), but only made by myself ! I think people that had bad experiences with bho are due to bad bho (or unsafe nails, unsafe pens, bad butane, inexperience in extraction, etc...) or an excess of dab...
The bho is much more "high", and if you dab at night, you'll be more irritated, like said Shredhead.
Bho is a wonderful thing but to consume sparingly, and safe (I only trust in quartz nails, no metal nails or pens) ;)

Unapproved commercial account.
Now I've been making oil for a good 3 years now and lately it's been slowing down. I used to make oil every week or 2, now it's only once every couple of months. I think ive become scared of solvent use. Every time I take a hit, even of really nicely done oil it never feels the same as Vaping herb. I feel like I waste my herb when I make oil now adays where as before it saved me weed ( I smoked ontop of Vaping for a long while, now I'm strictly vape). So I think this is my official goodbye to oils for a long while. I'll stick to my kief to get that super " high" but I think for now I'm good with the herb. Oil gave me some great times, but it's just too unnatural for me I guess..maybe one day I will try bubble hash. Goodbye my errl heads!

you guys obviously dont get c02 huh?
Not everyone has access to CO2. You need some special equipment to get CO2 into the supercritical phase that costs money, money that not every dispensary wants to spend.
