Interesting point, I can see the harshness since the INH is less restricted, but I was under the impression that the Inhalater produced bigger hits than the Solo.

I get MUCH bigger and more clouds with same amount of herb with the Solo compared to the Inh, but I do not notice any difference in how medicated I get.

The harshness of the Inh may also be because the vapor is not able to cool while traveling trough a stem before it hits the throat. The heating element on the Inh is just 1-2 cm from my lips, while the vapor from the Solo travels trough a 10 cm glass stem before it reaches my mouth.

Solo is not stealth at all. I tried to take it to a movie once, and it was just awkward.
Yeah with the glass stem, with Eds wooden stem it isnt that bad. I can carry it around and hit it.. Still seems a bit big, but the wooden stem is really cool some people might think its tobacco.

Fair enough. I still find it awkward pulling out a pop can and sucking on it when I am trying to be discreet. That being said, it is a fantastic vape.

i take it you didnt go the fountain drink cup route? i would think that this would make it quite easy. better hold those hits in tho

I looked at that option, but I just don't feel comfortable putting a heated device into a paper cup. I am sure it works fine, but I am paranoid like that.

With the same amount in?
OK yes obviously you'll averagely put more stuff in the INH vs the solo, but IMO if you boost your INH to 7, even with a solo bowl amount, you will get a few massive hits from the INH!
Probably a bigger hit , with more visible/wasted vapor at exhale (IMO 'cause of a better air flow and an easier fine tuning of temps= better convection extraction) vs. the solo which is probably, in that way, more economical/efficient and with "wispier" hits (nice clouds, nothing to be "ashamed of"' :D) !

OP If the only reason you aren't getting a cloud is because of the price, take a look at the LSV. It can be had for $190. It's not exactly portable since it is a plug in, but it is the thickest and tastiest hitting vape I've hit aside from the cloud and it pairs beautifully with water pipes. They have plenty of accessories. It's small enough to take with you and comes with a nice carry case as well. I have both the LSV and the cloud and I like the LSV more than the cloud. They have unique qualities that I enjoy. The LSV is bullet proof and easy to repair...the clouds are not. Once they get the reliability nailed the cloud has some distinct advantages, but I've had them about the same amount of time, but my clouds have needed to be repaired or replaced twice. As such I have used my LSV much more and have grown to appreciate how awesome it is. It hits like a champion!

Anyway if you insist on portable.... +1 for the Solo with PVHES stems and GonG adapters. Stealth is not important to me...I just like devices that work well. I've been very happy with my solo after the initial learning curve. However, IMO no portable will give you tasty clouds comparable to a plug in vape like the cloud or LSV.

I would wait on vapes that are extremely new to the market (ie Cera, Cloud). Being an early adopter usually comes at a cost.

I understand that many people feel that buying the "new thing" isn't a very good idea. I just got a look at the Ascent and about cried, its so small and beautiful, with digit temp as low as 60F, oil/herbs, I feel like there is no reason for me not to wait the extra month and give it a try. I'm not sure if it will have a GonG adapter, but it does have a glass mouthpiece extension so I don't see why they could not come out with a WPA. I feel like the Solo is a lame excuse for a portable, I've never hit one, but from seeing them they are quite large and I would feel retarded hitting one. The only thing that really sparks any interest from me from the solo is the fact that I could deck it out with different stems, and the WPA, and it be a full set.

Overall I feel like what I'm going to have to do is either wait and buy the ascent, or buy both the LSV and Pax and call it a day.

+1 on the Ascent, I'm stuck at this one and the INH XP. I see these two being at the top of the portable chain for what I'm looking for, which is producing good clouds tied with portability and being able to water-cool at home like a desktop. From everything that I have read, if the Ascent produces big clouds its a done deal for me. All-glass vapor path, 3 hours vape time, smaller than an iphone and if the convection part of the chamber performs well with big cloud hits - shut the door - IMO. I'm in if all this becomes fact.

I absolutely require that it be able to be easily used with a waterpipe. SSV doesn't work as well with glass, I have a $300 SGW waffle and a $120 6" beaker tube showerhead that I want to make use of. The LSV looked great, had vapor tamers, circular ground glass joints for their WPA. I just do not want to drop 225 on the xp and be disappointed.

Im drooling over the Ascent, I feel like it is everything I want in a portable and I think I'm definitely choosing it over any other portable, as its digital, all glass, tiny, discreet to use, and does both oils and herb. It literally stomps everything else in features. I really would like to see it perform because if it creates reasonable clouds im sold.

The question is, if I picked say the DBV over the LSV to save myself some money for bong/whip vaping will I be disappointed in the difference?

How can you say the ascent stomps everything else when youve never tried the ascent, the solo or most other portable vapes?

I've hit an Extreme Q, own a Volcano Digit/MFLB, and have been researching vaporizers pretty damn thoroughly over the past few months. I cannot speak from my own experience, but I can speak on behalf of the hundreds of videos I have watched and threads that I have lurked and say that there aren't many vapes that sport all those possibilities, especially not ones with such a reputable company. Now if you prefer to troll me then go ahead, but youre the only pompous asshole on these forums I've encountered who isn't trying to help people. Piss off.

mod note: You obviously haven't read the rules page. It would be a good idea to do so.

It stomps everything on paper; yeah. And Davinci did a good job on their last unit; yeah. But don't count your chickens until they've hatched.

I don't think anyone is trying to troll you and your the only one who is acting like a pompous asshole right now. You have little to no experience on these matters and are acting like you know everything; which to me seems way more pompous than the poor guy you insulted for just trying to help you out.

It's obvious you've already made up your mind, why are you still here justifying it?

mod note: You don't get to call anyone names here. You should know better.

BlazednConfused, you right about the SSV and WP, that's why I use an LSV for WP and SSV when dry.
As for the Ascent, I concure it look damn good.
Given the company, the owners/makers (that I happen to have meet) and their way of doing business I believe the Ascent should be a really good portable vape.
Wait and vape.
Right know, given what is ON the market and compared to what I tried (no Cera but a lot of the well known vapes out there), INH (for big puffs) and MFLB (for stealth and efficiency) are my two personal fav portable vapes.

Name calling is not going to fly here. Neither is your attitude. Warning point issued for breaking the "Be Nice" rule, again.

Because I have a month to wait and would like more insight?

How was I acting like a pompous asshole?

When someone enters a thread that they never posted in, and questions what I said without even reading it, where I clearly said FEATURES, then I consider them a troll. Just like you.

IMO If you plan on using it with a waterpipe it doesn't make sense to get a DBV/SSV over an LSV...you will lose the all glass vapor path, won't save that much money with the DBV and will spend more on the SSV.

I appreciate your thoughtful response. I literally jumped on the ascent bandwagon last night after seeing the new video on it and hearing about all the features. I have heard really good things about the INH XP but I am in the process of moving to Michigan from Florida, so ill have access to oils without having to deal with one of my big connects or making it myself when I was selling down there. I've only vaped a little oil off the stainless pad in my volcano digit it was quite nice. As for the LSV, I will putting that in my lineup as well. Da vinci first of course. The MFLB really disappointed me, but I never bought any really quality batteries for it so I can't say that it wasn't their fault. Like I said, I like to get stoned, not buzzed, so if the Ascent cant give me reasonable clouds and get me F***** up then the XP is next in line.

You have an insane collection, i've always wanted to work for a company involved in smoking technology period, how did you go about doing it?

As for your worry about the ability of the Ascent to produce reasonable clouds and get you F*** I believe (without having trying it) that the Ascent will work fine enough, so it should be able to give you that ...at the very least ;)
To answer your last question, long story made short: I (but not alone) made it (the company). After meeting a fellow FC member.
About the MFLB, it's a vape with a real learning curve that indeed needs good batteries, and that won't appeal to every one (as for any vape actually).
But when you master it, and accept its cons as they are it's a real beauty.

Raf, i take it that the highlighted vaporizers on your signature are the VIP units in your setup. When do you use the LSV or the SSV? My obvious thought is, LSV with water and SSV for dry hits. Is this it or are there other reasons?

Personally I've gotten much bigger hits from my Iolite then compared to the Extreme Q. The only reason I could see someone getting bigger hits off a portable is the ability to change the temp. Although I've never thought that hits from the Iolite where to small and can't really see how you could get much bigger even with an increased temp, the sheer volume of vapor makes me choke sometime. The only instance I see it falling behind is when used through water because you can't increase it. I don't if this just my experience with the Iolite or not though.

You got it right, it's exactly for that. ;)

What is it about the SSV but makes you prefer it dry over the LSV dry? Do you find the SSV has a thickest hit than the LSV?, because i would think the taste would be better dry in the LSV than the SSV.

Or is it about the confort of the whip? Or is it more difficult to have an even roasting with the LSV?
