yup- the visitors started about 3 weeks ago & will continue til xmas. thats what happens when you live at the beach. but summer hasnt yet arrived here, cold, wet & windy,

but the buds are nice & the weather report is CLOUDY followed by a period of dense FOG.

happy australia day fellow aussies. Its a wet one for some of us on the east coast.
I got 3inches of water in my back yard & rising fast.

been raining nearly a week & no sign of it going anywhere soon.

Happy Australia Day! I went out to Newcastle this afternoon and the city was dead. Plus they did their fireworks last night. Lame.

Wish I went into Sydney.

Went updates to Nimbin a few weeks ago and made the easiest purchase in a while. Starting to run low though...

Should be starting a month long camping adventure around Nsw this coming week. After that I will be renting a car and driving up to Cairns.

Fun times ahead.

I think most of nsw & qld has been washed away. perhaps inland yachting might be best.

why didnt this enlightened soul actually do anything when he was in office? He promised a medical cannabis trial when he was premier & never delivered. But people like tony bowers of Mulloway medical cannabis are being arrested still for a non psychoactive tinture he gives to cancer patients which is virtually devoid of THC?

The best Bob Carr could do was open the safe injecting room in kings cross (because his own brother died of a heroin OD in the very early 80's.) which is great from a harm minimalisation POV, but I just cant hold him up as a poster boy when he had his chance & made promises, but never delivered.

He is a fucking useless tosser who currently holds one of the highest & most desired public positions in the country as this countries foreign minister, who has been elected by no-one BTW. He fucked NSW over when he was in charge, and now the whole australian public will get to see just how hopeless he is.

As much as I welcomed the reports findings. I was very dismayed to see several figures who were responsible for the report are previous holders of very esteemed public office who could have made a difference on this subject when they held those previous positions.

in fact I find it hypocritical to see these people make these reccommendations when they did, but actuall said & did very little when they held office & could actually have made a real difference to the world instead of these post career hindsights.


again, while I think its awesome that its being discussed & debated in the mainstream media, I also think it is a great pity their careers appeared to have been more important than the wholesale criminalisation of anyone who used cannabis while they were in office.

Bob Carr in particular had his chance, and he sold us out for votes.
fuck him I say & the horse he rode in on.

The way I see it is at least we're getting some progress or movement on the issue which has been dodged and ignored by all MPs.

Sometimes it is hard to say controversial things when in the position of power especially when you know that power has "conditions" attached to it. It is because of this reason in the States have many former leaders etc have lobbied for decriminalisation of drugs after they leave seat. It is unfortunate and a sad state of affairs when people are not technically free to say what they feel without detrimental consequences to their careers.

But I think rational discussions on this topic with other Australians is a big step forward in such a conservative and at times backwards country.

It's frustrating thinking about it. I mean if our policies were based on strong empirical evidence rather than consensus or political correctness we'd see more progress in such a promising country.

I feel that drugs and their abuse is more of a social & health problem rather than a criminality problem.
If I am a productive member of society & wish to consume whatever I wish in my own home then it should be no- one elses business but mine. Regardless of whether its mj or heroin, its my business. Now if I go and commit crime to finance my habit then lock my ass up for that.

But just on the mj issue alone, I have learnt from my time on here that its very important medicine for many
people. The longer I spend my time reading & researching, the angrier I get.
Personally I think its cruel for so many reasons.

from the basic premise of denying fellow humans a wonderful medicine outright, to denying them even the right to be informed & make the choice for themselves.

all the way to making us all criminals for even possessing a seed, stem or crumb of mj.

as I said, i am glad the debate is happening, but I fear it will not change anythingfor many,many years. (well at least not while peeps like Bob Katter are alive-lol)

I used to think the illegality issues mj presented was all part of the game, dont do the crime etc.
Now, I feel its just plain wrong.

I read a few of your page one posts and I cannot agree more. Living in Kalgoorlie for a few years really opened my eyes to the true boganity that surrounds the Australian weed culture.

The closest thing to glass is mass produced china stems with a rubber plug at the bottom and a metal bowl and downstem, its nearly impossible to find anyone who smokes straight weed, let alone finding anyone who vapes, and our system of buying unweighted bags is completely ridiculous!

The last one might apply a lot more to Kalgoorlie but whenever I would buy weed there and take it home and weight it, I would be lucky to get over 2 grams for $50.... I imagine perth is better but I have yet to go out and restart my relationship with Maryjane, Im quite enjoying this 5 month T break.

I noticed australian vaporisers was mentioned, I bough an MFLB off there and had no issues besides from a slightly increased price (such is australian life). For glass I have used grasscity around 15 or so times, great everything couldnt recommend more highly.

On the topic of glass, what an absolute joke the shops like offyatree must seem to tourists who are used to quality glass. I remember going in there once and asking if he had any ALL glass pieces, and the closest he had was glass bong, glass slider with a metal cone piece..... honestly wtf.

I agree, it's wrong on so many levels - social, right, health, legal...

First and foremost, misinformation being propagated by authorities is just astounding.

Drug laws in Australia need serious reform but I think a fair few powerful and vocal individuals will feel like it's a threat to their existence when the topic gets a mention.

Thanks dorkus_molorkus! Life in holland is pretty good, I've been here for around 4.5 years. I miss a lot of things about Aust, like the weather, better food, and the friendly, relaxed nature of Aussies. Amsterdam is cool, but it can be too much at times... 24/7 its noisy, crazy, crowded and expensive too! Interesting place to live for a while but I won't settle down here.
Yep, the weed is usually amazing, but can be pricey! If you've got the money to spend, you can't go wrong. Any weed above 8 euros a gram is better than anything I found in Australia. If you're on a budget, you have to hunt around to get high quality weed for a reasonable price.

yeah WA has changed for the worse unfortuneatly & has some of the harshest penalties in the country. SA has a similar thing going on, and VIC is heading back to the dark ages as well.

QLD never left the dark ages, I hear some parts of nth qld are only just getting that fancy electrics that all us city folk take for granted. but then Bob Katter recently said if there was even just one gay man in NTH QLD he walk walk backwards form Bourke to somewhere else. (cant remember where to, I sorta tuned out from his homophobic rant).

There's a lot of anger from Australians at the direction to which we are moving towards as decided by our inept politicians.

Hi all,another aussie here. I've been vaping since last August after over thirty years of combustion. My problem was I always mixed tobacco with herb and I had to kick the tobacco habit. thanks to this site and all I learned from it I bought a MFLB and haven't used tobacco or combusted since last August last year.

I have been lurking about FC for a while, but have just noticed this thread. Great to see an outpost of civilisation on here !
Like Skippy, I combusted for more than 30 years, using a tobacco mix. One day while surfing the net, I was served a banner advert for Aus. Vaporizers. I usually don't take any notice of web adverts, but something made me check it out, probably that I had, for the first time, developed a persistant cough. Further googling led me to the FC site, where I did my research. I haven't combusted or used any tobacco since the day my Solo arrived.

I did not miss tobacco or notice any ill effects from withdrawal, but did have one problem - I put on a lot of weight. I was used to being one of those people who just stays the same size regardless of what they eat, and I gained 10Kg before I realised what was happening. Once I noticed, I was able to reverse the trend, but there is def. a health risk from quitting tobacco! Otoh, the cough disappeared after a couple of days, and my teeth became noticeably whiter.

I suspect the reason Australia is short of good glass makers and paraphernalia shops is that Australia has draconian laws in most States against possession of "drug paraphernalia". Back in the 1970's, before these laws were introduced, very pretty hand-blown bongs and pipes were made in Oz, but the industry was killed off. It seems that vaporizers get by because they have other plausible uses, but it is still brave to invest much in a shop selling such things; there is no guarantee that a "tightening" of State laws won't happen.

On the subject of law reform, I don't see much hope in the near future. Australia's drug laws are basically mandated by the USA, and any attempt to change them would be seen by them as desertion under fire in the "War on Drugs". The Americans would exert enormous pressure, and while it might be possible for Australia to resist, I cannot see any of the parties here wanting to pick a fight on this issue. Gillard of course only removes her lips from Uncle Sam's bottom for long enough to lick his boots clean. The reason people like Bob Carr did nothing while in office was the knowledge that if they didn't toe the line they would be removed.

Well with the current trend in the US, one would think Australia might at least implement some sort of medical program... hopefully... And if that day comes, let me tell you I'm gonna suddenly become a very sick man
