Modnote: Title edited. Please use a meaningful and descriptive title for your threads. It goes a long way for searchability. :)

Big hype and massive advertising in NYC.
I did catch the first release and it was well
done. The kid pushed out of the window
was a great ending; I might have to keep
up with this.

vapirtoo,
what is this? What channel produces this i.e. HBO, showtime etc? Can I find this on netflix or infinity?

Thanks guys

^^ Quest for power and a fight for the throne in a fictional land.

I used to play WoW a LOT and this definitely brought back some fond gaming memories.

For a TV production, this is pretty damn impressive. From the acting to the sets to the set lighting to the costumes and most importantly, the writing. This series is big on character development and there are a lot of characters to develop with emerging story lines so you kind of have to pay attention to this one or you could easily get lost in a who's who kind of way. HBO providing this was genius just in case you get lost for a bit: http://viewers-guide.hbo.com/game-of-thrones/#!/guide/houses/

Don't know, but it is, by far, the best story telling on television right now. Multiple story lines with lots of unexpected twists going on.

It seems like with every episode, at the end, I'm like.............FUCK !!

I believe there is only 3 episodes left. Man this show moves at the speed of light. I've never read the books, but I'm going to start Game of Thrones next week when we fly out to visit the in-laws.

HBO picked up a new season after the very first episode aired. They had a lot of faith in this one........... deservedly so.

There's so much good stuff here, but there was one line that was delivered that was just...........perfect.

It's when Ned's daughter (young girl, maybe 10 years old) is taking sword fighting lessons from a master. He asks her what God she believes in. She replies, the new Gods and the Old Gods, to which he replies, "There is only one god, and his name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to death........'NOT TODAY.

And then, he throws her a sword to continue the lesson.

A perfect sword fighting lesson to be learned if I ever heard one.

I LOVE this show.

(spoiler alert)

Of course, we got things like a mother breast feeding her 10 year old son, and the incestuous relationship between a twin brother and sister, and the sister is the wife of the King, and they give birth to a son, who the King thinks is his, but it's really the child of the evil twins..........and then we got Littlefinger who runs a whorehouse and is in constant training of his ladies, and the blond horse queen who has a nude wine merchant tied to her horse as she calmly rides............till he dies, and the horse king who promises a crown of gold to her brother who is a bit surprised at what the gold crown really is.

And why did her hands not get burned when she picked up the dragon egg that she was barbecuing? (to those that read the book, don't you dare tell me.)

There's just so much in this show that totally blows you away with each episode. I mean, have you ever seen a horse cut in half before by knight who is pissed off because he lost a joust? I was, like.......WTF??? :o

Shaggar: How would you like to die, Tyrion, son of Tywin?
Tyrion: In my own bed, at the age of 80, with a belly full of wine and a girls mouth around my cock.

George R. R. Martin is considered one of the best Sci-Fi writers in the world. He is ranked up there with J. R. R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings).

The TV show is outstanding.

Yup. Gonna sweep the Emmys, kind of like what the Soprano's did. Got to hand it to HBO. They will not only produce shows and take chances that others won't touch, but the high standards of some of these shows reset the bar for others to try and reach.

The quality of the overall production, while one may see in a made for TV movie is unheard of in a weekly series. HBO is not afraid to spend the big bucks. Talent like this, be it the actors, screenwriters, lighting technicians, costume designers, etc, etc etc, doesn't come cheap. Just look at the fucking detail artwork on some of their armor. Nice........... Check this out: http://www.westeros.org/GoT/News/Entry/Artisans_Simon_Brindle_on_Armor/

Wait till the weekend after this one to start, so you'll be able to watch all of the episodes one after another (and make sure you've got a healthy stash to vape). Because once you start, you might have serious trouble stopping, and this way, you won't have to wait (like we who have been watching each week have had to do ). Yep, the show is phenomenal.

Yeah i started watching this when it started but fell behind for a few weeks and got like 4-5 eps saved up. me and the g/f watched them all in one spree lol. I liked it from the start (fact: anything with Sean Bean in it is awesome) but, like a lot of series, the hook really gets set in around the 3rd episode. thats the point where you've become familiar with the characters and situations enough to anticipate and eagerly await what will happen next.

i really like how the show started out showing these different characters and groups, and slowly you see how they're going to start coming together in some sort of confrontation.

Like with any great series, this is going to be a real bummer when the season ends. Only a few shows left.

Think I'm gonna have to pick up the books from my library to read them in the meantime - won't be able to wait for them to film the next series!

Since this series is based on a series of novels, viewers aren't as vulnerable to HBO arbitrarily pulling the plug and leaving fans hanging, as they did with Deadwood. Each season presumably ends with all storylines tidied up, not abandoned. Even if they do leave cliffhangers, you can always seek out the novels if the fuckers at HBO cancel on you.

Not to start a debate, but I consider Deadwood to be a better series on almost every level, incidentally. That's not a knock on GoT, it is undeniably excellent. Deadwood, however, had the best ensemble cast I've ever seen, powerful and imaginative writing, and superb production values. Then the assholes killed Season 4 and kept... Entourage! :puke:
