da buddha durability tests

ive been meaning to get around to it and unless something comes up tomorrow i am going to start the durability tests on da budda.

a few ideas so far- im going to take a hammer and give it a good whacking. im going to get on the roof of my one story house and drop it onto the pavement. i want to go out to the park, grab the cord of the vape and start whirrling it around and then letting it go, watching as the vape sails through the air. i also want to take it and submerse it in some water(while unplugged, of course) and after it dries seeing how well it fires up again. after every trial i want to turn it on and see if it hits, so for the physical tests i will be taking the glass heater cover off. they do use the hardened glass, so it is likely to withstand more of a wollop than standard glass, but when dropping the unit from the roof or sending it flying through the air, one can assume breakage of the glass

all of this will be video taped, so if you have your own trial by fire(no, im not going to set the thing on fire) ideas for me to try out, let me know.

Can you post some good photos of the Da Buddha? Not enough angles on their site.

It's using the same ceramic element as the SSV, right? I would imagine that thing would go first from blunt force shocks like that.

Suggestions..... hmmmm....... throw it in the freezer for an hour. Microwave it... maybe not a great idea with the aluminum.

I'm certainly looking forward to the video results of this highly scientific experiment. Going all David and Goliath with a the hammer throw sounds like the most fun.

So the heater/wand interface is a bit different. Ground glass hands free should be nice for some people. If it works as well as the SSV for only $160...

yeah, the db comes with the ground glass connection. im not so much a fan of that, as i see it as being the weak link on the vape- the first thing to break in long term usage.

ever since i sat down with the ssv, db and volcano, ive been thoroughly impressed with db. ill usually load a pinch more herb than a surfer bowl and it gives very fulfilling hits.

one thing i like about it is the way the hose connects to the wand. instead of being like the ssv wand where the tubing goes on top/around the glass wand, da buddhas glass wand acts as the female peice and you stick the tip of hose inside of it.

Sort of unrelated, but is it pretty simple to remove the glass heater cover on the SSV? Looks like you just kind of twist and pull up. Is there any risk of messing something up or not being able to get it back on positioned perfectly and air tight?

Well, actually it is related, because if anyone drops their SSV or Da Buddha and the glass heater cover breaks, they will be putting a new on one.

i think on units that were made before about a year and a half ago, the heater cover does not just slip off as easily as it now does, but on all current units(ssv and dbv) it does just snug on/off.

i hadnt ever taken it off before yesterday and i noticed that with the circular piece that divides the heater cover from the internal electronics, the hole for the heating element is slightly off center. so ya just gotta spin that around to be in the right spot and then the heater cover slides right into place.

Yes, an easy wiggle and pull will remove it and an easy push puts it back (both the cover and the knob are user replaceable). There's no 'stop' to tell you when it's installed in the perfect position though, and since the top of the element is close to the top of the cover, you have to be careful. However, this range of position for the cover could be an advantage as far as slightly changing the heat output, and possibly the way the air flows. Since the air intake is less than an inch below the bend in the cover (I love this design-nice, clean vapor path), about 3/4 of an inch of the element is exposed to the air flow. If you lift the cover up higher, you can reduce the length of element that's exposed to about 1/2". The cover is is not quite as secure in this position (it wiggles slightly), so you'd have to be careful when connecting the wand. It's just something to play around with. What do you think tokin? I know you have a theory about the air flow with this design.

LOve the look of the buddha. Another vap not available locally I'm sure my vapor daddy will burn out in time and I'd love to upgrade to a budda or SSV.

Just to get some perspective ... the volcano original sells for $1099 and the digital $1299 here in NZ. I mean ... for a fucking hair dryer .. come on! If I can import a buddha or SSV and make sure its well marked as an aromatherapy defusser or something I'd be laughing.
