Doe anyone know of a dosing capsule type option for the V1?

http://shop.lamart.ch/index.php?route=product/product&path=64_77&product_id=312

You may need to adjust the stem width with some Teflon tape (totally outside the vapor path)

Does anyone put a screen in the glass stem load herb in the joint and then cap it with the basket? One of the videos i saw they used it like that. I feel I would be able to vape a little more at one time that way? Is there a reason it only comes with the basket?

Lately I only use one rimmed basket screen. However, I had great success using an internal basket screen and capping it off with the rimmed basket.

Try it both ways. Moving the load further away from the heat source will require more heat to get the same results.

For all users of DNA mods.

I stumbled on how to raise or lower resistance on a DNA mod. This is a description of how it was done using the Think Vape theme.

Go to the profile of the atomizer you are using. Move the cursor down to the resistance number. Click on the resistance number. The default seems to be an offer of resampling the resistance. If you move your cursor over the resistance number (top item) click with the middle button and then raise or lower resistance (at your own risk).

Been playing with my V2 a little more. Tried bumping up to 30-35 watts with no preheat which ended up being worse. Im now using it at 22.5 watts giving it a 1 sec preheat and then inhaling real slow for about 10 seconds...getting some really good flavor and vapor for the first 4 or 5 which then tapers off. Im still getting a hot spot though even with rotating the stem in between hits.

What should the resistance of the v2 read?

Mine is .25(9 I presume since it was .26 until I locked it and can't see a third digit here) on RXdna250 cold resistance

I find that locking resistance can be the main thing to dial a mod in but results vary between mods. I don't have a V2. I'd try it on a different mod too if you have that option.

I have yet to mess with PID values. I'm typically ending up with Splinters around .24 and the Z around .4ohms. DNA and DNAc mods heat more evenly with little to no risk of hot spots or scorching. My new hcigar VT75D needed a resistance bump with the Z and it's showing out now.

Vgoodiez.com is running a promotion. Get a free King Kooling Kit with any Splinter version purchase. The sale starts at Midnight eastern today and will go through Sunday up until midnight. This is while supplies last so don't wait if you want to get in on this. You must add both products into the cart and use code "champs2019" at checkout to receive the discount.

And per Vgoodiez, "The splinter has the Milaana heater in it while the Splinter Z has the Zion heater. The extra mass of the Zion heater takes a few more seconds to heat but provides more full bodied hits.

The V1 and V2 are Standard which means they are manufactured in China. The difference is wood, v1 is Bubinga, v2 is blackwood. V1 has the ceramic insulator but uses mica in the design. V2 gets rid of all mica in favor of ceramic.

All custom is made here in the US by Ryan. It has everything the standard has but has thicker higher quality German glass as well. This and choice of woods is the advantage of Custom over Standard."

I did ask:

"Is the V1 slated to drop the mica & become all ceramic like the V2? And are the Custom Splinter & Z going to continue to use mica?"

Will post when I get an answer.

Welp it would seem that the V2 is officially only 19/19 after all... Mine suddenly just cracked from using my 22mm stems with internal screen and rimmed screen. I actually didn't even see it crack, it was in my drawer for a week as I fought a cold, went to pick it up last night for this family photo (below) and heard rattling. Looked at it and saw it had cracked in half at an angle from screen area to halfway up, bottom half fell in a bit. So that is the only explanation, using all my 22mm stems, along with fluctuating LA winter temps perhaps sitting in that drawer near a window.

PSA: I repeat, DO NOT use any 19/22 stems with your Splinter V2, only 19/19 so you do not risk cracking the glass (regardless the screen). Warranty covers that for 30 days, then it is on you so be careful with your babies! (Presume V1 is same, not sure for ZV1)

RIP V2, SplinterZ and Sliver will miss you, but meet your replacement soon :brow:

Haha I do not miss ice and snow! Yeah this has been a cold one for LA which isn't saying much but it really does chill your bones being a desert at night. During the day can be nice and sunny so the fluctuating temp after the joint/screen stress may be what made the pop crack, I wasn't around when it happened I guess so never heard anything. But yeah LA is Louisiana but most would say that I think? bc LA is LA! LaLa Land and whatnot. Yeah my location on here is just a joke actually, had it before I moved out here even and it links to some place in Ohio or something on a map? lol

Anyway I think its pretty clear what did it, since if I weren't using the 22mm stems it likely never would have happened. Even if it wasn't instant it is clearly not the perfect fit it seemed to be. So again, DO NOT use them if you want to protect your V2, follow instructions is my advice now :2c:

Haha, All good, thanks for the warning, I def having stem issues w fit, worst offender my Mi1, doesnt want to take almost ANYTHING.
Location wise I was just curious, Im LA (socal!) and get excited easily. So I was checking, no chance I'd run into you in Louisiana, but out here, who knows? Always down to (pretend I'll ever) meet up!

Oh cool! Yup we need an FC convention

Wrong place, but your Mi1 probably has the heater screen raised up just a touch so stems aren't seating properly. One of my Zion betas is like that so it can be tricky, luckily I have a ton of stems so was able to find some that fit well. That's what happens when you go for a collectable! As I'm sure you can see with your Mi2 the fit and finish have really gone up with time, along with consistency of course.

Could you please share your DNA settings? I have used a Splinter and a Splinter Z and both had scorching issues.

thanks

All I did with the DNAc was upload the Splinter and Z ecigprofiles and then lock the resistance at .39 instead of the .368 the mod picked for the Z as its reading. Haven't used it with the V1 yet and I sold my og walnut Splinter to a friend.

Per Vgoodiez: "If another batch of V1 is made I suspect it would be ceramic.

As for Custom stuff I'm not sure but I do know he has a supply of the Mica fittings left so I'm sure those will be used up before any determination is made."

@Shit Snacks. are you sure that it was the 19/22 stem that caused the bowl to crack?

If another batch of the V1, were to be made, they would be V2 since it is the new model with the ceramic. The only difference would be the wood so why would it be called a V1 again?

No way to really be sure, but it is the only possible explanation for what I found...

Thanks gonna email them now. I just cant seem to figure out how to avoid getting a hot spot which is clearly affecting the taste. Preheat, no preheat... using it 22.5-23watts and also 30-35 watts... Slow light inhaling and also faster inhaling all give a hot spot after about 2-3 hits and flavor starts crashing.

That still looks totally normal to me, I contend that your draw can be further honed in for the type of extraction you like. You've only had it a few days really, right? A week or so maybe? Doesn't seem like anything for the warranty imo

Does having a DNA mod/TC make a difference I was thinking about getting one but not sure i want to invest any more money if I cant figure this out with wattage and the battery i currently have

It certainly can, since it stops heater from rising in temp when button is pressed, but yeah I'd hate to see you invest the time and money finding one you like if technique leads to the same outcome. Honestly that looks like decent extraction to me, not even too dark of a hot spot and nicely centered, have you tried stirring? I say keep at it before you rush into something new with more variables

Since vgoodie is away anyway for a few days, why don't you try playing with it a little more before you email. You'll then have more experimentation feedback to give him.

Try a full pack but only very lightly tamp the load. This way the pack will be loose enough so as not to retain heat & tunnel, yet tight enough to soak the load with heat. Then try this type of packing with both a slow draw & another bowl with a medium draw. Don't preheat these 2 bowls. See what happens. Rotating the stem won't do anything to alleviate the tunneling since it's in the middle.

I don't think the mod you use would make a difference with what you are experiencing. BTW, what mod do you have?

For my taste & my mod, 32w on the first 2 draws & then I bump up 2w for another draw & then bump up another 2w to finish off. I usually stir before that last hit. The 1st 2 hits are flavorful, the next good & the last just OK. Anymore hits & it would be popcornish because after my 4 hits, the .1 grams is spent, but I only have street weed to work with.

@Shit Snacks, maybe RBT will keep the V1 name just to indicate wood other than the V2 blackwood.
