Mmmmm, I have one well seasoned with resin from the hash-tobacco “hybrid” I consumed exclusively for many years. The ones we used came with soapstone bowls and I haved carved replacement bowls. I remember making them fragile thin sometimes. Hmmmm, I should mate that seasoned stem to a tip (make soapstone female/female adapter) and it would be like using a seasoned cask for Scotch:)

I'm diggin it :D

Thanks!
I just put the tip and screen in ziplock and shook with ISO and epson salt.
A few Q-tips in and out then rinsed. Seems to have cleaned most out the gunk out.

I didn’t clean the cap...didn’t seem to need it yet. Although I’ve only owned it for three weeks now.
Ziplocks and dishwashers, thats way too much work and time imo. I use Fran Wilson Nail Tees, a hard pointy version of a Q-tip (google it). This has made cleaning my VC a 3 minute affair. I only need to use one to clean all parts of the VC:
First I use one to uninstall the screen, because usually the gunk in the tip is so thick that it prevents me from inserting the condenser tube into the tip to remove the screen.
The ti screen ive never had to clean.
Dip the ends of the nail tee in iso, run it through the condenser tube... the pointy end makes it a breeze to insert (as opposed to a normal q-tip which requires modifying) and its the perfect thickness to quickly get the tube clean with no hassle.
Same with cleaning the tip. The pointy end is good at clearing gunk out of the grooves and crevices inside the tip. Done.
Theyre also great for removing mouth gunk from the mouthpiece o-ring. Regular q-tips are a giant fail compared to these things.

Most omni's don't completely shut off with the adjustment. On my TI Omni XL I get a small amount of airflow when the valve is completely closed. Because I don't use it on a water piece I don't mind and I like to play the air hole like a flute, but if I DID want to use it on water I would have to use one method or another to close it completely.

A dirty Omni may close more completely due to resin buildup, but I like my Omni clean... ;)

Could be, but if you look in his soaking bowl there is an Omni mp and condenser in there.

I have heard (read) some say that they can close the omni off completely and I wonder if there was a period when Omnis did close off. I got mine for BF last year so maybe I should only say Omni's of that vintage don't completely close off.

I seem to remember a statement from DV at one time with a reason why but I don't remember what it was. It might have been avoiding a potential problem with the valve...

Very cool, congrats. Makes me wish I had ordered as I watched the clock click rather than the next day. ;)

In truth there is nothing better than the joy that comes along with feeling the largess of the king of DV. George is a special guy and DV is a special company, and we all benefit from both. I give thanks for Dynavap.

No disrespect to the DV brethren but there is a possibility that this was not intentional and resulted from a failure in the process of making these "black". George is a master at making lemonade out of lemons, like the original Ti MPs that were cut from failed Omni condensers. That makes it no less cool but might reduce the likelihood of future "etched" stems. Actually it might make it even more cool and unique.

It looks pretty deliberate to me. Theres also a break in the pattern on the back. Cant be sure though.
