Underdog Log Vapes

I don't know those joints look pretty close together. Probably good for a couple grasshoppers. Cool though.
Or plug every other and run three dogs! That thing looks rad. Sadly I won't be purchasing as the last three times I've decided to grab some new glass from DHgate my debit card info misteriously ended up stolen within two weeks. Literally. It bums me out because I used to use it all of the time.

I fairly regularly run two dogs but if I could run three or possibly more?! God. Damn.

yooo lol look at what @Hogni posted over in the GH thread...

Think I found my next purchase. Rather than running claisens on claisens....

Yesssss!

I could alternate long GonGs and shorty GonGs! But ya it does look like that'd be a problem for anything other than my micros :p

On the bright side you know a guy who can make a set of skinny Dogs easy-peasy. :p

Yeah I had that problem too with ordering from China as well, DHgate or otherwise. If you've got a Citi credit card you can generate a one-time use CC number instead, we've taken to do that now, problem solved. Then it doesn't matter if it gets stolen. Not sure if other companies offer similar services but they might. :2c: :peace:

It's bc my instagram is private. If you requested to follow me and were approved, the link should work. Damn all these uploading things are dumb... Didn't think it'd require anything if I just gave the direct link.

Hopefully vid.me works >_>

edit:

vid.me just crashes. I will maybe find a better solution tomorrow?

Vid.Me kept crashing on my phone. :(

I'll make my account public

That did it.. nice... looks a little top heavy.

Kind of surprised your vapor isn't thicker given how high a voltage you're running those Pups.. how long had they been at that level? Normally I'd say that's well into combustion range for the average Dog.

Wow really?

I've left the ipe stripe and the banksia at 7.5~ overnight (banksia just a tad lower, ipe a tad higher) and still no combustion.

I use the madrone at 10.2~ on that manual VVPS and feel it can go a bit higher.... It was on for maybe 1hr before I shot the vid.

I use 10.2 for DD with that dog with the LED dimmer, and haven't REALLY dialed in the manual VVPS since I'm using the dual one more... I'll try and get one with natural light sometime bc it is pretty nice... I also usually make the 3 bowls last 3~ or so full hits bc I still have this cough and I get rekt if I pull for too long lol...

Ah... nevermind... I may have theoretically been suffering from a herb hangover when I watched your video and thought it was reading like 15v on the 2 channel... lol. Your actual voltages are down in the range of where I'd expect them to be and nowhere near combustion. Carry on.

Use youtube dude super easy just make an anon account and don't use Mr. Muunch @Gmail.com but you can go in app and upload to account directly on phone

I've only combusted in the NonG's - too pack of tight i think was the issue. Been awhile but I also basically stopped using the NonG's once that happened

I've only combusted once in my ~6-month, daily use Underdog history, using my girlfriend's mahoe log and forgetting it ran a bit hotter than mine. We were still getting acquainted (the log and I, not my girlfriend, we knew each other pretty well by then).

@HellsWindStaff, don't write off the NonGs man, they are the One True Way (unless you prefer something else, in which case, do you, friend). :)

I think he described the travel VVPS size as like, 'half a deck of cards,' and I saw a picture and thought, he must be using some Large Print, senior-citizen ass cards. But sure enough, pictures don't do it justice, it's small! And bulletproof so far, works really well and feels like it will continue to do so for a good long while.

Edit: upon advice from my legal counsel I will say that I value the immense contribution of our Greatest Generation and meant no ill will by referencing their dependence on magazine-sized playing cards, nor will I question their right to nurse a small coffee and plain cheeseburger for two hours at McDonalds; elders, I salute you

Hey Dogs, whew Friday! It's been a brutal week around here so I'm relieved to see the weekend approaching. Of course now that I think about it the weekend is looking to be even more brutal than the work week so.. crap.. oh well no rest for the weary I guess.

Alright, on that note, back to work for this Dog...

I finally got around to unwrapping my travel VVPS.. Nice job Dave! It's even more compact than the buck-boost converter I got from you a while back.. I'm gonna put it to work pretty soon here

Thanks man! Nice to see my hard work paying off in peoples enjoyment of the new power supplies.

Heh.. you forgot to account for the fact that I usually understate things instead of overstate them. I'm a natural at anti-marketing.. all substance, no hype lol.

Glad to hear another person is enjoying the little Travel VVPS.. I think yours is the first to make it up to Canada too so you're clearly continuing your work as a trendsetter.

Careful harassing the old folks.. gotta keep in mind many of them are all out of fucks to give and just might beat you with a stick if they catch you throwing shade at them.:goon:

I'm the same way, often describing things I really like as 'all right' or 'not bad,' it can drive people crazy sometimes. :)

As far as the trendsetting goes, really all I do is throw some of these crummy Canadian dollars in the air and hope something cool comes back down.

There was some self-deprecating going on there as I'm officially closer to 60 than I am to 20. Gonna have to start carving my own beating stick. Got a few years yet, though, I can't quite pull off the 'befuddled old fart' when the cops show up. :myday:

Loose pack is your friend. I have been getting super heavy rips through mine to the point where I frequently cough.

The path is littered with clumps of expelled ABV to guide you.

hi everyone. does anyone know how the volts translate to temperature? its pretty confusing as I have no idea what 10, 11, or 12v means in terms of Fahrenheit. I have the dimmer switch so I can adjust it but it would help to have a rough estimate on the translation if that makes sense. idk maybe I'm just a bit slow or something.

on another note, I used it without the dimmer switch (just turned it on for 20 minutes, and let a rip), and have to say it really is pretty efficient. in my volcano I used to use like .5g but the glass stem was like .2g or something for the same results (for aroma therapy of course)

Welcom @purplegrass....I'm going to try and answer, but it is not a definite thing. Every dog is different, as types of wood affect heating characteristics. Many other factors affect overall performance, which is true of all of the artisan analog vapes that you see on these threads, both desktop and portable.

Some of these factors include the wood type, which I mentioned above. But even within the same wood species, their are variations.....is it heartwood, or does it have some sapwood in it? Another factor is your particular heater core. Underdog has explained a couple of times in earlier posts that his heater cores which he procures have a range of temperature themselves. Your draw technique and stem choice affect the result, as does the moisture content and grind of your (ahem) aromatherapy materials. You and I, vaping on the same dog with the same temperature setting, load size and stem will achieve different results.

So, IMHO, their is no finite answer to your question. All I can say is that your dog is very ready to become your personal friend, you just have to train it (and yourself), but the journey is often sublime with these bad boys:):2c:

I've never even thought or worried too much about exact temps when using my dogs. There's too many variables as was stated, but always start low and work your way up.

You might also find that adjusting how tightly packed your material or how deep the screen is in the stem or even adjusting your draw rate does the fine adjustments on temp rather than relying on turning the voltage up and down.

If you have an LED dimmer, just start at like 8.5 and make your way up in .5 increments. How dense/tasty you like your vapor and how long you want a stem to last (ie: cache in one-hit, or sip for a few hits?) will also play into which voltage you end up choosing.

It may seem intimidating but it's a nice intimate process that helps to bond with your dog. :)

Hi purplegrass,

As @mucsusn and @muunch mentioned it's pretty tough to translate volts to temperature in a Log with all the variables from different woods to the variation in heating elements. Then that's compounded by the fact that what temperature works for one person might combust with another person who draws slower or uses a different strain, etc. There's basically a sea of different variables and they, well, vary.

Generally what we recommend is start at a particular voltage like 10.5v and let the vape heat up to a stable temp (maybe 20 minutes?) and see how that works with what you're trying to vape. Adjust up or down in .5v increments and allow 5 minutes before 're-testing' with your aromatherapy herbs. Doing this kind of process will serve you well and is pretty quick and easy. It's also helpful because it's also common for different strains to need quite different temps between them and this is the easiest way to find what a particular strain wants temp wise.

That all said I'll see if I can't dig out the measurement stuff and get you some ballpark temp ideas at a range of voltages so you're not totally flying in the dark out there. Things are pretty busy around here but I'll see if I can do that today.
