Discontinued The Grasshopper

So I've had my hopper for long enough I feel I can do a preliminary thoughts post. For background, I am a light user, 3 to 4 sessions a week on average. Usually 1 bowel per session shared between two people. Mostly my experience with vaping is limited to portables, though I have tried a desktop or two. My "daily" driver for years has been the og firefly. With that context in mind, most of what I will speak too will be a comparison between them.

Firstly I would like to say I was straight up shocked how even the abv is. Especially impressive since it's a full convection vape. Coming from the firefly, it is nice not to have to stir. When I dumped the abv after the first use, I tried to identify which material was closer to the heater. It was, for all practical purposes, indistinguishable.

It is quite a powerful, effortless vape. With the firefly I feel I have to coax it for vapor. The GH delivers volumus vapor on demand, independent of technique. Load, rip, done in minutes. I was able to hit it at 5 natively. It was doable but not pleasant. I attribute this ability to draw denser/hotter vapor with relatively less discomfort to the heater. It has the ability to keep up with however fast I can draw against the resistance. This allows more of a puffing motion then a prolonged draw. I'm guessing the reduced discomfort is from vapor exposure time of 5 to 10 seconds with the GH vs 15 to 30 seconds with the firefly.

Taste is where the ff clearly wins. The GH is not bad, especially on lower settings. But at the functional settings (3 and up), it's merely "meh". I wish the GH had a model that was focused more on quality vapor over stealth. I would be excited to see what they could come up with without the restriction of a stealthy form.

I can't speak of the battery life because I only use one bowel then it's back on the included USB charger. In fact I have not even opened the backend, for all I know it runs on rainbows and sunshine.

Because of the convenience and extraction power, I believe the GH will be my new "daily" driver.
Bowl ≠ Bowel

"I was told on delivery that they are down to under 5% failure rate now. Which is below industry standards. This coming directly from Trevor at Grasshopper. So let hope!"

That's on reddit from theherbcafe vendor. I think that's hilarious and I'm guessing it's about as accurate as their shipping estimates have been.

Wow....if u find yourself having performance issues like me :uhoh:

......get new batts. Pretty silly I waited this long. Also amazing/alarming how quickly my old batts went south (ghb1's).... In love all over again. Guess I just have to order a new round of batts every 4-6 months...hopper labs lifetime warranty insurance premium I suppose:shrug:

Hopper and some sour tangle for the new year!! Cheers fellow hoppers:cheers:

It's quite possible that percentage is not including hoppers destroyed by accidental user error.
This latest cleaning how-to blog indicates that cleaning has caused many issues, possibly most.
This correlates to my experiences with most possible faults.
If it is an actual device failure, a misplaced pin, a unit error (straight to blue light, red then dead LED patterns) it's actually quite uncommon, 5% seems reasonable. Where as sensor issues have impacted almost everyone. Although the device stops working the failure isn't technically caused by a system fault.

The percentage of returned hoppers would be a different figure for sure.
But note that I have personally had repeated user faults causing most of my issues, where as 50% of my total ordered hoppers are entirely trouble free (but have never seen IPA).

I got bad quality ABV from both my devices with the dodgy back-end (old school GT001159) attached. The ABV was green to dark like in the pic above, if I really tried to vape. Otherwise it would be a goldeny brown at best.
A replacement part, or using my other back-end (both with >3000 serial difference from the OG), fixed the issue and the clouds were bigger, faster and the ABV is even and can get way dark.

If you're unhappy with your performance - frequent blue flickering, ABV disparity - file a warranty send the GH away and get one that works. The difference is huge

Dug this up....has the video I referenced previously. Also pretty sure that both of my new Hoppers are newer stock - they both had GHB2 batteries. More testing....something is definitely up with both of these new backends. It's as if they cook the load a little slower to start or something...wondering if the temp programming has changed at all, otherwise my backends are just sensitive/finic

I am wondering this myself. Just recently I've been saying positive things about the new backend temp dial feeling so smooth, but it delivers very thin clouds; swapping an older backend proved that out to me, so I had to send the whole unit in --- and I hope that it's not just that the calibration is different. It would suck if GHL sent it back saying it was fine. I can't get more than a wisp of vapor at T4, and T5 wasn't super either.

I've had the blue flickering on mine from the start. I have 4 different GHB2 and they all act the same. Started a RMA and Caroline linked me to the tips n tricks which helped a little but not much. Gonna soldier on for a few more days then check back with her.

Here is ABV from one chamber I took up to 5, I've separated it as you can see some is a lot darker than other bits. Would you say this is normal?

I can relate to this. I currently have a pint jar filled with this kind of ABV. As @biohacker says, I've noticed that unless you go for a full out toasting of a load, the top layer of flower is greener than the deeper strata. And as @moondog says, it also depends on the pack. But either way, that top layer, being further from the heat path, will be "less vaped".

turns out the GH is a bit less stealthy than I thought.
Don't expect to use this in an enclosed space (blowing clouds out the open window) and get away with it
Just a heads up, I'm home for holidays and thought I could sneak a low temp bong hit in. Apparently it stunk the room up strongly lol. No complaints on my end, but other noses might not agree haha

That's all they'd have with the latest batch, seeing as they sold out before and get them direct from the manufacturer. I think Vapefiend still has old stock floating, which have older chargers and GHB1s.

My 2s are holding up well. One battery saw me through two days for the first time ever last week :p

Caroline got back to me and I have to add batteries to account before Caroline enables free shipping on my account and invoices me separately for DHL shipping to Australia.

"Hi There,
We are only shipping GHB2 Batteries now. We are happy to send you some in Australia, but we must do so with DHL as regulations have changed. This shipping option has not been added to the website yet, so I will need to invoice you for shipping costs after the order is placed. Please go ahead and add the Batteries you want to your cart on GHVape.com and then I will enable free shipping. Once that is done, you can proceed to checkout. I will then send you an invoice via PayPal for DHL shipping costs after I get a quote together for that cost.
If you want to proceed, let me know when the Batteries are in your cart.
Best,
Caroline"

That's interesting. Perhaps USPS has changed their regulations for the new year.
Let us know what the price comes to with DHL, I paid $10 USD postage for my 5 batteries before

If the two Hoppers that I returned are functioning the way they are supposed to be, then I fell in love with a completely different vape! Then again I did get pretty great performance at times with the newer ones, so I think it's just a flaky inconsistent performance glitch. The new ones are now gone, and i'm left with my OG Ti and SS dinosaurs with super tight hard to turn backends and older chargers and GHB1 batteries....yet - my Hopper experience is out of this world!

I definitely did not need 4 GH's, but if the two newer ones worked like my 3rd hand older ones I would have kept them!

I'll more than likely send in my Ti at some point for the FRONT END. The Ti front end will not fit the Ti body, but it will fit at least 3 other bodies, and the other 3 front ends fit the Ti body no problem. Fucked! But i'll wait until the actual Ti body or backend goes before I go through the hassle....for now I just swap the SS and Ti front ends.....looks two-tone....but it works!

Has anyone gotten one that worked, and kept working?
Of course they have!
And I'm actually fairly certain that there are many hundreds out there who are non-stop Hopping happy . . . and will never ever post about it. And for many of them, to do so would be to provoke a potential jinx! Why tempt fate? :worms:

Bad Juju! :zombie:

So all I shall say is - check my post history in this thread, & see for yourself . . . . :)
If you're not rectally vaping, you're missing out!
Don't worry - it's more common than you think. In fact, anally vaping is actually a prerequisite to becoming a member here at FC in the first place!
Check the T&C's :tinfoil:

Hello guys and happy new Year!!

I've just received my two GHB2 battery from vaposhop, I have a trouble with one battery; when i've tried to charge this battery in my Nitecore D2, the voltage was 1.7V and now after 1 hour the voltage is only 3.84, still going up but very slowly ... I never saw any of my GH battery with this very very low voltage, so do i need to be worried about that?

i've always charged my battery in "Low" mode with my Nitecore D2.

I will do more test this afternoon with this battery for check if after some use, the voltage is going down under 3.7v ... Thanks by advance for your advise !!
