Oregon is a frightening state to live in

Having lived there. I know it's pretty oppressive as far as rights go. Oregon does have great roads and highways when compared to most of the other states though.

Just curios because I have lived in Oregon for so long . . . how exactly are my rights being oppressed here? We have a progressive stance on cannabis, no sales tax, and a lower cost of living. We have one of the best colleges in the nation, we are the leaders in Track & Field etc . . .

The thing about Oregon that most people don't know is that, in certain areas, we have outstanding fine arts, great sports and entertainment, fine dining, and a plethora of scenic areas, protected wilderness, incredible coastline, with one of the best National Parks in the country at Crater Lake. The reason you don't hear about it is we don't want a bunch of people moving here. Come visit, and go away.

I kinda like it here . . . :)

So, for the most important item here on fc,
how's the cannabis quality and pricing in OR?
Compared to my go-to state of CO where I found superb quality and falling prices/ a great shop with senior discount, etc

Inquiring/Enquiring minds want to know ;)

O.k. here it goes. Compared to other states your property rights are far less in many counties in the state. Fun rights and what one can do are far tighter than many states. Building codes and such far worse. Feeling that freedom yet! Traffic infractions are ridiculously high when compared to others. No wood burning stoves for heat in certain counties. Illegal to be off The grid in many places too. The list goes on and on. It's not like one would know this by just living there. One has to research investigate and then compare. Don't take it personal if you are, you're not Oregon. I prefer the states with the most liberty available in this now vary socialist county. The republic must live again. I love many places and things about Oregon on other levels having lived there many years myself. I just choose to not feed it's system any longer.

Well, my situation is unique so I can't comment on that, however, price/tax wise we are doing way better than WA and the med patients are still under OMMP. You can get a lot of free stuff here but $10 grams, for top shelf, are still being sold here. Seen some $100/oz as well for high quality, good genetics. Its pretty old school on the pricing. Only the government can interfere with that by taxing. So I would say our prices, and quality, are great. If you hold a card, and have a good provider, you can be set very well.

Funny reading this. Decades ago when I considered moving here I ran into those same messages. Or "don't californicate oregon". It's been ages since I've heard those views. Sadly although there is still much beauty it has lessened over the years.

No one like change, but that's the only thing that's constant, especially urban, suburban, and exurban areas. I moved to Vancouver, WA in 1973: I californicated my way up from the Bay Area. I've seen great changes, and I believe still more are to come.

People up here hate competing for scarce housing. That is what it boils down to. Compared with California, our land prices are bargains. industry is booming. But if you compare our prices to depressed areas of the country, our housing dollar would go further, too. We just need to move to Birmingham, AL.

Lifelong Beaver right here. 65+ years.
Can you give some info on the oppressiveness that you mentioned?

Libertarian?
Wood burning is not allowed because of AIR POLLUTION.
Pretty damned good reason.
I am a property owner and do wish the schools were funded properly in the constitution and not from mostly property taxes. But Oregon is in the top 10 places to live in my book, and I have been around.
I am for regulations too. They are not always perfect but we are better off with them than without.
But there is one thing that is a worry.
It is that the reich wing keeps trying to inflict its nonsense on us.
