The atmosphere in most cities probably have higher CO levels than anything the iOlite might give off. I think the vapor stream of the iOlite is clear from CO though.

A lot of people simply heat it on a knife with a lighter (taking care not to scorch it) and then inhale the vapors. There is no mist and the taste is very light. It's hard to tell if you're getting all the vapor though so you might want to use an acrylic or glass stem...
