Hey Vapinmofo, How does the crafty get by the security wands & metal detectors at these venues?

I don't know... Except to say I have never been stopped or asked I just walk through they do what they do... Maybe it's the force?

Finally got a chance to time my Crafty. Serial number < 500. FW 2.04. 31 hrs of usage. I've never fully drained the battery and never charged the battery while hot/warm.

Now I know why I always pick up the Firewood 3 these days. From cold start to temp #1 (374) took 2:56.

By that time, I've drained the FW3 and had a glass of water.

Mostly because it's palmable and keeps the time it gets used (124hrs after 10 months of use).
I asked s&B if I can get a Mighty in exchange of my 2.05 Crafty with old fins. They told me that's always possible but now I regret it and will not send mine in.
Someone needs to start producing CU mods with attached bowl minivap style or prepackable bowls (reduced conduction traded for portability).

Exchange for a Mighty may 'always be possible', but the rate you pay may vary.
I had a Crafty go in and it needed battery; I had to pay, and when I asked about Mighty instead, I was offered a $100 US discount (so it would have cost about $300). That Crafty then crapped out and went back, this time with an issue that was covered by warranty. I asked again about a Mighty (having returned Crafty #3) and was offered a 'warranty exchange' for $60, the difference in retail price between the two.
i am very happy I made the exchange.

The coolest thing would be having an app that could turn the phone in vaping mode, like when Google maps navigation is activated, with the ability to heat up using volume buttons. Another cool thing could be using physical buttons on the phone to trigger different pre-set temps. I'd love being able to have an optional 165°C other than 185/205 already on the Crafty. For the first 2 tasty hits when I get to try a new strain or whenever I want to.

Awesome! You deserve a medal for these hacks/apps. I use VCC from my phone due to lack of 2.04 from the official s&b app.
Just goes to show you how uninspired s&b are. They could provide all these features if they put some time and effort into it.

Hey fellow vapers, it's been awhile, my replacement Crafty has been working great. It's going on 4 months, it's a 2.08v. I don't use it as much, because I've got the Mighty, just on weekends when I'm out. I've noticed the cold air does slow performance down. Other than that, it's so small and so powerful, it's a great vape. I know the reliability issues, but I had no problems with SnB replacing my unit. This was my first vape and my daily driver, until I got the Daisy and the Mighty.

One thing I realized, the Crafty should not be your everyday vape, I don't think it was made for that. The Mighty on the other hand is more heavy duty and can be used daily. I know they're expensive, but what other vape this size works this well, let me know... Seriously, I'd like to know.

So the moral of the story is have a back up if you own a Crafty.
It's like that hot girlfriend who treats you real sweet then dumps you, BAM! Only there's no warranty with a hot girl.

I don't mean to go off topic either, but I'll answer your question. Probably better to take any further questions to the crafty/Mighty threads.

Mehh the cooling fins, apart from acting as a heatsink, aren't a big issue. It does not alter it's performance or function.

I think your mean the housing that the cooling unit attaches to. That's much less common these days, they reinforced it very shortly after the initial release for both crafty and mighty.

The units are pretty solid in general, the most common issue with the mighty was intermittent vibrate feature and err002. But I concur with others posts on here, anecdotal evidence from FC threads would suggest the mighty is much more reliable.

Having said that my original crafty with over 1 year of use and 40-50hrs (of actual vaping hrs) is still going strong.
My friend got to 130hrs before he needed a battery replacement (which was expensive! AUD$120) (AUD$1=~CAD$1 FYI).
Batteries are a weak point for the crafty and mighty.... but with the mighty the battery replacement is less often.

One thing I realized, the Crafty should not be your everyday vape, I don't think it was made for that. The Mighty on the other hand is more heavy duty and can be used daily.

I have 17 hours on the Crafty, and I do get that all that the relatively thin hard resin, as superior quality as it is, is not impervious to the long term effects of heat. The Crafty is a small, and low heft, almost delicate feeling device. It's not until you start start turning the pieces that you get how solid it is. I sense that you are right, that the heftier Mighty is going to stand up to use for more hours of operation. Yet the Mighty has the same resin, same cooling fin thickness, same threading dimensions oven housing thickness as the Crafty, I don't expect we'll see a huge difference in heat induced housing failure. Some but not huge. Would be fun to know.

Heat stress to the electronics in the Crafty seems a possibility. Looking at some of the FLIR images, you can see how if you are not drawing air while the preheat tube is cooking along at 27 watts its going to get hot down at the intake. The electronics are close in to the air intake. If the Mighty has more heat isolation than the Crafty, that could boost expected longevity past the Crafty.

I have 2 MFLBs, I like the redundancy. I am loving the Crafty so much, probably going to go redundant here also. For a lot of reasons including the longevity factor, it makes more sense to add a Mighty to my team than a second Crafty.

Redundancy is the name of the game with Crafty, but more like backup vape is what most folks seem to have (need).

Get the Mighty, you will not be sorry! Then use that Crafty less.

Yeah my friend has no idea about vapes or Australian consumer law. He didn't say anyrhing to me and went ahead and processed a claim through ausvapes (aka Australian Vaporizers) and specifically told them the battery died.

It was working perfectly fine and then one day it didn't turn on, that would not indicate a battery failure to me... More likely the power switch or IC board failure (his power switch felt loose compared to mine). But he specifically told them his battery failed (I don't know what possessed him to diagnose his own fault with no knowledge on the matter).

They said to him battery replacement wasn't covered and asked him to pay AUD$120.
This is in less than 10 months of use!

He paid it and got a brand new unit sent, BUT they opened it up and took out the accessories!?!? (seems pretty tight to me).
He has more money than sense and was just happy to have a new unit back in his hands so quickly.

I can tell you if that was me, I would not have accepted that.
But it's mostly his fault for diagnosising his own fault (without any knowledge) and paying $120 without question.

@Stinky FYI. Not that I matters to us who know our Australian consumer rights.

This will only work on android wear - so your friend might have the wrong watch for this - also I will not yet release it - just a PoC currently - the MAC of my crafty is hard-coded for example ;-)

Not just me but the Australian Office of Fair Trading. They confirmed it to me in writing before I bought my unit.

Ausvapes will take liberties until you remind them of their responsibilities. They often tried to get me to pay for postage on my warranty returns until I reminded them that they had told me that they will pay for all postage. Contact your local Office of Fair Trading and get it in writing from them that the batteries in these units are covered under warranty by Australian Consumer Law. Ausvapes are pretty cool and should refund your mate the money he paid to have his batteries replaced.

I most be doing something wrong.
Crafty got harsh and battery temp hot
Could not use it over Christmas so I bought a mighty.
When I shipped of crafty my mighty died. It was only 2 weeks old.
Storz and buckle said they would help to speed warranty
Paid extra to ship from Canada.
Crafty arrived on Monday and mighty Tuesday
Wednesday got a call for money because of parts ordered. They were wrong because I only got one shipping credit and was promised two.
Had to write a email complaining about they don't care that my only 2 vapes are in for warranty and I just wanted one back.
I guess I made a mistake complaining because I got a crafty version 2.08 plus orange stick loose. It took 2 weeks to get one back.
Bought a haze v3 and can't wait to try it so I can cut my lost.

My recent new model Crafty also had a loose orange stir tool but I thought it was normal since it uses a USB port unlike the Mighty. It bugged me a little due to the lack of stealth (could hear is wiggling/knocking around).

You may be disappointed with the Haze v3 in comparison to the Crafty/Mighty, but that's just IMO. Now that the new Boundless vape has been released, it has my eye as a solid replacement for the Crafty, with a much, much faster heatup time. Time will tell.

It is the GH! However, I do not have strong faith in it lasting! Furthermore, i'm not so sure that the GH is a good replacement for the Crafty after all, simply because I think that they are just too different. My wife will most likely not be able to handle the GH due to its short vapour path and heat, unless she can get decent hits on the lower temps that are comfortable. If the GH shits the bed, and/or the wife doesn't like it - I will be forced to purchase another Crafty, unless the Boundless comes through!
